NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #13

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to continue for 2 weeks although at the start of the second week getting everything done in this time period was looking less certain. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

Access to view the hearing remotely was obtainable by sending an email request to [email protected] headed Public Access Request (Peggie v Fife Health Board) 4104864/2024 and requesting access.

However, as a result of problems with the liverstreaming, apparently as a result of a very large number of observers, remote public access to the hearing was suspended on Tuesday 11 February. It was suggested that it might be reinstated at some point but I wouldn't count on it.

He's 6 foot 1, I don't think the extra inch would make that much difference!

Interesting, most of us with breast cysts are referred on a 2 ww to a cancer hospital. We aren't wasting their time. The gp referring just wants to be certain. Not the patient being over-anxious at all.

The quotations from the minutes that I linked above are dated 15 Feb. 2024 (reference to an internal handling). It's because they're a sub-committee reporting into the Staff Governance Committee although that meeting wasn't until May 2024.

This must be the fascinating material that NC and the team have to scrutinise to pick up clues as to things that haven't been mentioned and about which there are plausible email chains and other documents.

So before SP had received any information about why she was suspended, and this was around the time DU was being chased up by ED who -wasn't- but- was investigating DU complaint (for the first, now denied, time)

I assumed that this is the sort of riveting material they've been digging through, IYSWIM. Which is why, possibly, NC is confident to term KS' email "intemperate" if it continues language like that.
A "hate crime" and "female on female" is something for which I'd expect a Datix. As ever, the content of those would be informative. I've had a look on X and I can see someone sent the original X link comment on the story to FWS who will probably pass it to NC.

I don't have a firm grasp of the timeline in the case. I don't blame myself for that because as was obvious in the boswelltoday summaries upthread, there's a lot of purposeful confusion and blurring going-on.
