NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #12

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to continue for 2 weeks although at the start of the second week getting everything done in this time period was looking less certain. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

So DU says the missing emails to the BMA are because they’re from his private email and he “forgot” about them and JR says they are about well-being so not disclosable - so they haven’t been forgotten then DU have they? N C not accepting this before the break, let’s see where we are now…

I would like to know WHEN Dr Upton stopped being male.
Was he male when he did his medical training?
Was he male when he married his presumably straight wife? If not, does he realise he deceived her?

When did the magical change happen? And what is it that changed? Was he always a woman?

What exact changes (apart from growing his hair and putting in earrings) occurred for him to now be an ACTUAL female?

YouGov (my bold) and specifically relevant to this case:

In terms of the wider principle, most Britons (55%) say they believe that allowing transgender women to use spaces reserved for women, such as women's toilets or changing rooms, “presents a genuine risk of harm to women”.

And that figure opposed goes up to 63% if the "transgender woman" hasn't had gender reassignment surgery.

Brilliant - this is what the judge needs as "evidence" of what the "typical person" thinks. I reckon the survey was done pre-hearing - I'd love to know what the results will be if the survey were to be taken again next month!?

The top of the peak for me today has been Upton's slimy admittance that he believes he has the right to perform an intimate examination on a seriously unwell female patient who has already requested same sex care unless that patient refuses him personally.

Everyone needs to understand just how big a problem this is.

It’s the outsourcing of responsibility to the patient. The patient must protest, even if they are semi conscious and traumatised but have already managed to put their request for women only to a Medic. They must find the energy to assess and potentially protest about every staff member they encounter. Never able to relax. Constantly hovering on the edge of trauma because medics can no longer be trusted.

And bearing the responsibility for ‘kicking up a fuss’ ‘being a bigot’.
