NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #8

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

Incredible. I'm actually starting to think he is insane and definitely NOT fit to practice as a doctor.

This man is a doctor. Just let that sink in. He thinks doctors make ‘their best guess' at the sex of newborn babies.

So doctors are just guessing about whether a baby is a boy or a girl?

Christ - surely a doctor who has such limited knowledge/acceptance of biological fact should not be allowed to practise medicine?

Clearly he is allowing his beliefs to influence his medical judgement

NC - you never sggested you have a DSD?

BU - no, giving a comprehensive argument

NC - leaving aside DSDs, doesn't take a doctor in majority of cases

BU - legally it's a doctor who makes that decision

NC - it's an observation, that any five year old could correctly make

BU - I don't know enough five year olds.

How can anyone employ this person as a doctor?

I would like to have NC ask him in what way he is a biological woman.

BU - age is not a marker of intelligence. Development varies.

Like -

A doctor makes a best guess to sex at birth?
There’s no definition of biological sex - it’s very nebulous?
I don’t know, I’m not an obstetrician?

Our taxes paid for this man to be educated and attain the position of doctor and yet he doesn't understand the basic differences of sex. How did we come to this?

Side note, I see nothing fragile about this man. He is ruthlessly trampling his way over women's rights and he knows exactly what he's doing.

NC - whatever you say about your GI, you're a man.

BU - I disagree.

Wow. He says he's biologically female because he's biological and not a robot. And sex is assigned at birth based on medical professionals' best guess. Under oath. 😳

If these responses from a qualified doctor weren't so terrifying they'd be hilarious. This is beyond belief.
