It seems the Labour Party has commented:
"The post is an adaptation of a viral social media trend and contains a mix of two music tracks.
“We acknowledge the translation of the lyrics are completely inappropriate. We apologise and the video has now been deleted."

'Inappropriate', doesn't really cut the mustard.

Vile, disgusting, misogynistic lyrics about punching young girls in their genitals?

I would have to say, it's a bit more than inappropriate.

And how did they get to be advocates for it??

Datun · 06/01/2025 17:41

I have to assume they didn't know what the translation was and so are now back peddling!

But That's the whole point.

It's so fricking basic, working out what the lyrics are to a song on your own advert.

That's bad enough.

But glomming onto what you think the youth are going to like? Just because it's on bloody TikTok.

Using that logic, have they subsequently concluded that 'the youth' are hopelessly misogynistic now?

Or are they not misogynistic? Or is TikTok not representative of the people who they think might vote?

It all seems so bloody clueless.

Edited to say, I don't think I'm explaining myself properly!

But do they think that the sort of people who write those lyrics are the sort of people who are going vote for them? Because oh my God, what a double whammy.

fempiricist · 06/01/2025 17:43

Haven't read the full thread but looked up the song out of curiosity- I was surprised mostly because I recognised it! 😳

Thankfully not that version, but it's a remix of a (far more pleasant and completely innocent) song from Les Choristes, a French film. I'd highly recommend the original, "Vois sur ton chemin", if anyone needs to a nice track to erase the memory of that tasteless remix.

I imagine someone in the Labour Party's PR department will be getting fired tomorrow morning, if they haven't already!

WhoPutTheBomp · 06/01/2025 17:43

JFC.

What on earth were they thinking?

CurlewKate · 06/01/2025 17:46

@SkiingonKaraSea "And how many hours did it take you to work that out? Was it when you saw the response?"

Well, yes, it probably was. Isn't that how correcting mistakes happens?

larklane17 · 06/01/2025 17:48

The translation of the lyrics is inappropriate.

It's not the translation that's the issue. The lyrics promote VAWG. In any language.

Do they think we are so thick that we don't see the weasel words used to constantly minimise valid criticism?

Inappropriate. FFS

Sasskitty · 06/01/2025 17:53

’"The post is an adaptation of a viral social media trend and contains a mix of two music tracks.
“We acknowledge the translation of the lyrics are completely inappropriate. We apologise and the video has now been deleted."

That’s just like when a person hurts someone else and they say - ‘I’m sorry you feel that way’ or ‘look what you made me do’ etc

wasn’t the behaviour inappropriate. etc

Inappropriate?? We can all see misogynistic labour strikes again.

IGuessIllbetheFirst · 06/01/2025 17:54

Its a bit like that Balenciaga advert with the child porn court case documentation - at first you think it must have been a mistake, how could someone mistakenly chose this, but then you think well who did chose this actually - because a choice was made to publish this kind of content - and then how did they get past all the checks & controls that are in place for anything that is published.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/01/2025 17:56

Yes, exactly.

larklane17 · 06/01/2025 18:02

Seeing as Labour are thinking of giving 16 year olds the vote, their choice of TikTok content, in trying to court the yoof, is veering towards the noncey.

CandyCane5 · 06/01/2025 18:03

Labour are so embarrassing. I can't believe people voted for this. Shameful.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/01/2025 18:04

To be honest the people at Labour HQ shouldn't be allowed the vote, let alone 16 year olds

Chersfrozenface · 06/01/2025 18:04

..and then how did they get past all the checks & controls that are in place for anything that is published.

I"m not convinced that the Labour Party is well organised enough to have checks and controls in place for everything it publishes.

@SkiingonKaraSea "And how many hours did it take you to work that out? Was it when you saw the response?"

Well, yes, it probably was. Isn't that how correcting mistakes happens?

So you agree they only decided the lyrics were inappropriate when they saw the response to them? They couldn’t determine that for themselves?

Aren’t 16yr olds running Labour HQ?

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 06/01/2025 18:08

Waited all my adult life for Labour to get back in… and we get these clowns 🤡

struck me most was the stereotypes of sexy bunny nurse

I couldn't work out if she was a tiger with weird AI ears or a bunny with tiger stripes.

If you don't know what the words mean don't use them. Or get a translation?
It wasn't a bunny, but a hare.

I spent over half a century organising for them.
What a fucking clown I was.

Sasskitty · 06/01/2025 18:14

Was a member of the Labour Party. It’s my family’s way. No idea what my grandad would think of them as they are today. Never again.

WhereYouLeftIt · 06/01/2025 18:22

Chersfrozenface · 06/01/2025 15:02

I reckon it's because AI is based so much on US materials. Those markings look like those of a jack rabbit, actually a hare, the American desert hare.

I assumed hare, because the accompanying text is 'you'll be seen sooner by our NHS' and I thought they were trying to have the roles assume the traits of the animals - owl/wise/teacher, hare/speed/NHS. Falls apart depicting politicians as lions!

Same here. My grandfather was a Labour Party activist, an old style socialist, and he'd be ashamed of what they've become.

larklane17 · 06/01/2025 18:28

The police as bulldogs with no bollocks image left me somewhat bemused.
Is this move away from rainbow lanyards literal progress?

Also hedgehogs/energy and badgers/trains - not seeing the links.
