As far as I can tell, there aren't any audible lyrics in the actual clip (a few incomprehensible garbles). The AI animals are pretty awful.

Audible lyrics from 22 seconds. But that is beside the point.

Only incomprehensible garbles if you don't understand Portuguese.

Anyone using music in ads, especially political ads, needs to take note of its lyrics. Doubly so if the lyrics are in another language.

It seems a lifetime away from when I used to join in singing The Red Flag at Conference.

Vai na pica safada? Let's sing along with Kier and the NEC.

The graphics are based on a current craze, "countries as animals", that has even turned up on my social media feed. I'm not on Tiktok and I'm decades away from being yoof.

The music is, according to the Metro, "Ritmos Colombianos Brazilian 2.0 (Speed Up), a 2023 song by F3RZXID and Dj Camaro". I haven't been able to find the lyrics in the original or translation so far.

Anyone else want to research it?

Yeah this looks like much to do about nothing.

Labour probably shouldn't be wasting their time doing animal country memes but equally that song doesn't even have lyrics on in the clipped segment and it's a super popular meme/ reel song.

It is disturbing if that song has a long form lyric version which does say that. They are awful lyrics. But not sure how labour would have known. Probably why political parties shouldn't meme.

Of course they should've known. If you're going to have a song in your ad, you do your due diligence about what it means.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/01/2025 11:30

Agree with Datun on due diligence, but also agree the memes are cringey af and that Labour shouldn't be doing them.

Reminded of "how do you do fellow kids"

SqueakyDinosaur · 06/01/2025 11:32

PronounssheRa · 06/01/2025 07:25

I thought it was just a bit cringe, but what the fuck, those lyrics.

Who do they have on comms, this if fucking dreadful

Alastair Campbell must be spitting tacks.

Course they shouldn't. They're never going get it right, and not just because they're never going to get it right. They're just not kids.

SkiingonKaraSea · 06/01/2025 11:43

There are 11 seconds of audible lyrics on the clipped segment that cover the first few lines of the lyrics I posted.

Appalling lyrics. Par for the course in rap / hip hop though? They someone new in charge if comms. Someone with a nodding acquaintance with reality. Is there a young John Prescott out there? Rosie Duffield perhaps...

SkiingonKaraSea · 06/01/2025 11:47

The TikTok clip is only 34 seconds long. If you are going to try and justify its awfulness you should at least listen to the whole thing before making statements that are clearly untrue; claiming there are no audible lyrics.

OP posts:
SkiingonKaraSea · 06/01/2025 11:51

Remember Labour put this out at the same time as refusing a call for an inquiry into ‘grooming’ gangs raping and torture of thousands of young girls who were often plied with drugs to get their compliance. Read the lyrics again with that in mind!

I'm amazed anyone is even attempting to justify it.

GoldThumb · 06/01/2025 11:56

Oh wow, those lyrics are vile

ArabellaScott · 06/01/2025 12:03
the thick of it angry reaction GIF

Well. Someone needs to call Malcolm Tucker.

larklane17 · 06/01/2025 12:05

Looking forward to Billy Bragg singing it at the next Tolpuddle Festival.

ArabellaScott · 06/01/2025 12:11

Oh, god, BOAK.

GoulashSoup · 06/01/2025 12:55

Aside from the overall cringe factor, using AI instead of employing actual humans, the truly horrific choice of soundtrack, what struck me most was the stereotypes of sexy bunny nurse, raging testosterone bull builder. Absolute car crash!

I’m sure I’m not their targeted demographic being a rights hoarding dinosaur, but it’s a massive no from me.

Agreed. And the British Bulldog police officer has 1970s racist overtones to me.

ResisterOfTwaddleRex · 06/01/2025 13:37

Not surprised people are defending it. The double standards of the left never fail to deliver.

BlueSilverCats · 06/01/2025 13:45

Someone had one job. That someone did not do their job properly, or due diligence

The defence of "ooops , who can possibly know what all these newfangled things do" doesn't work anymore.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/01/2025 13:49

I couldn't work out if she was a tiger with weird AI ears or a bunny with tiger stripes.

Is Google broken? Of course they should have known.

Craftymam · 06/01/2025 13:57

@Datun

I agree they should! But they haven't 🤣

It's quite shocking actually. This song is literally the backing for every third TikTok meme.

I also the original song for the original animal country AI meme.

So I can see how this happened. It's a constant shit show and is laugh or cry humorous.
