I can't yet find a job description for a comms job at party HQ, but have found one for a Communications and Social Media Officer for local constituency parties.
Under "Key Responsibilities and tasks: Social media" it says
"Create compelling social media content which communicates Labour’s message at a local level and CLP activity, including videos, photos and graphics. You can use Connects or Localise to ensure content is on brand and consistent with national messaging."
So those employed at local level need to ensure social media content is "on brand and consistent with national messaging". What about those at HQ?
If the Tiktok thing needed sign off, did the content creator think as I suggested above, perhaps showing examples of the content they had copied and adapted, and the authoriser, knowing little to nothing about Tiktok, AI graphics, current music or any language but English, say "Yeah, that looks great"?
But not knowing does you no good. In advertising, and political advertising in particular, people outside the organisation will know, and at least some of them will be vocal about your failings.
What's that phrase again? Do better.
