On the plus side, if I was a language teacher it’s a good example of why studying a language is useful. Hey kids, listen to this!

SkiingonKaraSea · 06/01/2025 14:06

Given it is still up, I don’t put it past Labour to have chosen the lyrics on purpose.

Has the lyrics thing been highlighted to them?

Yeah this looks like much to do about nothing.

Labour probably shouldn't be wasting their time doing animal country memes but equally that song doesn't even have lyrics on in the clipped segment and it's a super popular meme/ reel song.

It is disturbing if that song has a long form lyric version which does say that. They are awful lyrics. But not sure how labour would have known. Probably why political parties shouldn't meme.

Unless they think foreign words are just meaningless grunts and vocalisations they ought to have vetted the lyrics. It's like those people who get menu item words in Japanese tattooed on their bodies because they think the kanji is pretty. Clowns.

DeanElderberry · 06/01/2025 14:31

not sure how labour would have known

How? The same way anyone knows anything, basic research before spending money. Employing someone to do an elementary check on what they were going to use in their campaign would have prevented this. Easier to do now than ever before in human history.

Chersfrozenface · 06/01/2025 14:36

not sure how labour would have known

A few simple steps.

First, is the song you propose using in English?

If yes - Check that the lyrics are suitable for your ad, your brand and your message.

If no - Get a reliable translation and check that the lyrics are suitable for your ad, your brand and your message.

Not surprised people are defending it. The double standards of the left never fail to deliver.

And the ignorance of the right always delivers. FWIIW I don't think you would find a single left winger supporting this - or the Labour Party. Being left of Nigel Farage, and left wing are a long distance apart.

CurlewKate · 06/01/2025 14:42

By doing 30 seconds research? And I'm a Labour loyalist.

duc748 · 06/01/2025 14:46

There's an ad I see all the time, but I think it's mostly on YouTube, for one these ambulance-chasing legal outfits, featuring a lion and other animals, so it kinda looks like a nod to that. Witless rubbish for a PP ad, though. And the lyrics? Well, it's cock-up or conspiracy, isn't it? I think the balance of probabilities goes with cock-up this time. Woefully inept.

larklane17 · 06/01/2025 14:48

Well there's certainly a fair bit of cock up in it.

You’ve not RTFT. There are people defending them by making crummy excuses.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 06/01/2025 15:01

What a ridiculous thing to say. Presumably they know how to use a search engine? Why wouldn't they check the content of their PR stuff? Idiots.

Chersfrozenface · 06/01/2025 15:02

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/01/2025 13:49

struck me most was the stereotypes of sexy bunny nurse

I couldn't work out if she was a tiger with weird AI ears or a bunny with tiger stripes.

I reckon it's because AI is based so much on US materials. Those markings look like those of a jack rabbit, actually a hare, the American desert hare.

Labours TikTok Ad - WTF!!!
Datun · 06/01/2025 15:10

I'm sure there is a lot that goes into an advert, but clearly, the main things are, the pictures, the words, and the soundtrack.

I can't help thinking it's so basic that the reason they didn't check is probably quite significant.

Furthermore, the fact that it's a regular meme on TikTok isn't an argument for why they might have chosen it. It's an argument for why is TikTok indulging in such disgusting misogyny.

And yes, I know it's par for the course, but can we really accept at the government, or their advisers, are so inured to it being spouted absolutely everywhere, that they don't even bother to find out what it means?

Datun · 06/01/2025 15:13

Plus, and I'm the last person to be on top of technology, those AI generated images are old hat, even to me.

themostspecialelfintheworkshop · 06/01/2025 15:15

It's almost as if, having won the election, they've found out governing is hard work not just freebies and photo ops and other than Wes Streeting, they're actively looking for ways to get kicked out asap.

If a child put this forward as an 'ad' for a GCSE course they'd fail and their parents get called in!

Alongside the failure to react appropriately to the calls for some action on grooming gangs it's appalling.

Chersfrozenface · 06/01/2025 15:15

Whoever put this travesty together is shallow and really doesn't think.

"Ooh, these AI animals are really popular, they're everywhere. Let's adapt them for our soundbites!"

"Ooh, this track is really popular, it's everywhere! Let's use it for our animal ad!"

its not Labour, it’s Starmer. Any real Labour politicians with left wing ideals have been shut down by Starmer the dictator. And the dictator doesn’t have any ideas of his own behind trying attaining power and trying to cling onto power.

Imnobody4 · 06/01/2025 15:49

I'm beginning to think it's sabotage from inside the Labour Party.

Of course the Labour Party support this. They are promoting it!

It is THEIR TikTok!
