Emma Bunton has posted a picture tribute for her son Tate's 13th birthday with a hashtag #shesmybaby. The 3 young people pictured all have long hair so my initial thought was 'her son must be trans'.

KJK has posted a video saying if she calls her son she/her then she's a child abuser. Not sure what to make of it. I get where KJK is coming from but child abuser?

Or she could keep her gender-questioning, vulnerable child off her social media.

Being a Celebrity with a trans child is the latest fashion. It’s so tedious & sad. Something to do with the attention seeking parents wanting to be special I suspect. Perhaps also the kind of schools/peers they’re exposed to.

If her son is 13 then he's not trans. Transitioning is an action that only adults can take. Children can believe they are trans but they can't actually be trans.

Calling her a child abuser is ludicrous. KJK is working very hard to discredit the whole GC movement imo. These kinds of ridiculous comments overshadow the balanced, reasonable arguments that many people have carefully formed due to concern about children taking puberty blockers, having life-changing surgery etc. KJK is doing the GC movement no favours at all.

The Cass review states that social transition isn't a neutral act. To affirm
her child, whilst understandable as parents always want to please their kids,
isn't in the best interests of the child.

like most on here I'm no fan at all of celebs trans-ing their kids, but in EB's defence the picture is subtle, you can't see the kid's face (wise), they've kept the old birth name, plus at 13 the kids is plenty old enough to know whether they're 'queer' one way or another.

I've never at all minded the semi-jocular use of female pronouns to refer to (e.g.) effeminate gay boys and men, it's the mind boggling blurring of this and the reality of sex that I can't abide.

How would you explain the exploitation of a 13 year old through the medium of social media then? Abuse comes in many forms.

I think she’s so right about everything BUT she seems to be getting a bit OTT. Her videos lately seem to consist of her posting clips of mostly American women (talking admittedly rubbish and gushing about their “trans child”) and then spending ages mimicking/mocking their accents.

I really hate to say it but she’s starting to come across slightly deranged.

I suspect that KJK doesn’t consider herself to be a part of the “GC movement” if such a thing even exists. Billions of people across the globe understand that it’s not possible for human beings to change sex and many of those people will hold unpalatable views or express themselves imperfectly. I think the only person she’s likely to harm is herself.

I’m sure Emma Bunton won’t care about deranged comments. Good on her for celebrating her child.

A once a year post wishing your kid Happy Birthday doesn't seem like exploitation to me. Emma doesn't post pictures of Tate's face.

She's just following the party line - transitioning children is abuse, those who transition children are abusers.
She's an activist. She has a line to stick to. And you can't deny that her actions have changed the conversation.

She could have made a post with a photo of the cake and a simple Happy Birthday Tate but instead chose to be deliberately provocative with the hashtag and the dumb message about being yourself.

He's now being led down a different path he should be taking.

It's absolutely sickening.

If you affirm a child as the wrong sex from a young age then puberty is going to be a hell of a lot worse for them. If her poor child has been told he's a girl then how is he meant to cope when he gets taller and hairier. It might not be abuse but it's pretty damn close if you ask me.

That's the difficulty with the mangling of language and obfuscation of clarity of communications.
