Doesn't this just illustrate the whole problem

Parents should be more responsible and accountable for their child's welfare. I don't understand how they can't see how much they are harming their children by pretending to them that they can change sex.

It's surely setting the child up for a lifetime of disappointment and unhappiness. Where is the honesty?

Or do parents just go along with it because they think it's a phase?

Exploiting her son for the SM 👍 - really poor taste.

TeenDivided · 10/05/2024 06:57

Have I missed something? Could this not just be a Mum delighting that her son is enjoying what he wants?

5 and a boy loving his dolls BOOM 13 and #shesmybaby. So much harm done in those intervening years. Heartbreaking for that child

Poor poor kid having such an narcissistic exploitive mum.

TeenDivided · 10/05/2024 07:32

Ah. Just read the other thread. Get it now.

It's awful and it is abuse.

Cos it's fash'nable innit. Look at me I'm one of the "it crowd" I'm getting soooo much attention!!

WallaceinAnderland · 10/05/2024 14:29

At 13 puberty is happening. I dread to think what that poor child is going to experience over the next 2 to 3 years. So damaging. They should have just let him be a boy with his own interests and he would have been fine.

Is this an extreme case of "gender disappointment" or kid not living to parents' expectations ie not a girl.

ColdInApril · 10/05/2024 15:30

What I wonder if anyone has a conversation that it’s okay to like dolls and long hair etc and it just means you might be a feminine boy.
Sharing this to a large following on SM just solidifies and encourages it, how is he meant to turn round and say he’s changed his mind now.

WallaceinAnderland · 10/05/2024 15:36

How is he meant to cope when his body grows into a man, not a woman?

What a mess. EB has 2 sons. Now one is trans.

tiredandabitfat · 13/05/2024 23:36

Who is that in the photo? I thought she only had two kids? Is the blonde one on the left Emma?

It’s not an ice-cream. Have you forgotten the Cass report already? Social transition is not a neutral act. For many it is the beginning of a life on medication.

Check above. This thread didn't give context. It wasn't clear to me the two quotes were from the same person, let alone about the same child!

A) parenting is not a popularity contest - sometimes parents have to say no, sometimes the child doesn’t like that. Parents who affirm that their child is the opposite sex might get a short term buzz from their child’s approval, but it is unlikely to go well in the long term.

B) parenting is a social activity. How one person parents their child directly affects the children around them. Affirming eg that children who like long hair and dolls must be girls increases the pressure to conform to those gender stereotypes on other children too

I am interested in the backstory, can anyone link me to the original thread?
