How the metro can put out this tweet which effectively suggests a woman shouldn't be allowed to speak is beyond me. Shocked but not surprised. Comments are heartening though, as is the ratio.

It’s a very misogynist freesheet. It doesn’t employ the brightest and best.

Peskysquirrel · 27/02/2024 08:22

I think she has quite happily opened her mouth actually, to say what she said.
Shocking sentence construction from Metro.

Hotairblues · 27/02/2024 08:23

Damn cis woman daring to raise valid concerns about reporting of dangerous criminals.

Ironic that I don’t see the TWAW brigade welcoming this killer with open arms.

SerafinasGoose · 27/02/2024 08:26

Skewing crime statistics is dangerous. The sex-based statistics show very clearly exactly who is a threat to who. If these are manipulated to reflect 'gender identity' then the distinction between the sex class which represents a clear and lethal threat to the other sex class, with two women murdered at the hands of men per week, then this dinstinction is eroded. This potentially puts the more vulnerable sex class at even greater risk at the hands of the dominant one.

As if men ever needed more of a green light to harm women. The crime of rape is de facto legal as it is.

Women's safety matters not a jot to these misogynists.

KohlaParasaurus · 27/02/2024 08:29

A lot of us are sad that the news media is indulging the whims of a misogynistic ideology with such apparent enthusiasm.

BackCats · 27/02/2024 08:30

That it truly chilling.

Seems to be written by the same sort of person who wrote that a woman who speaks out of turn should have her teeth smashed out with a brick on the Enmetena and Urukagina cones. The misogyny is ancient.

LizzieSiddal · 27/02/2024 08:36

That’s appalling.

I wonder if JK will respond. I hope so.

cerisepanther73 · 27/02/2024 08:39

Didn't know this news source was biased li that...

Did they mean she opened her mouth in a sad way perhaps 🤔

ThePoshUns · 27/02/2024 08:43

She had so many positive messages in response to her tweet, from men and women.
The general public have had enough of this nonsense, it's the media that keep promoting it.

Wheresthescissors · 27/02/2024 08:43

Would they say the same about a male politician saying something they disagreed with? Or a footballer?

mwmmwm · 27/02/2024 08:45

They've now deleted the post 🙄

theremustbecake · 27/02/2024 08:46

How dare a woman "open her mouth"

Noshowlomo · 27/02/2024 08:48

How dare she open her mouth about this. How dare an actual woman open her mouth and give an opinion.
also, the metro page on instagram makes NO MENTION of her being a trans woman.. it’s all woman woman woman. What’s the agenda??!

Theraffarian · 27/02/2024 08:49

The metro quite often has poorly constructed headlines first thing that are then altered when the grown ups wake up and take over .

Meadowfinch · 27/02/2024 08:49

It's the Metro - it's only there to sit on when the tube seats are too dirty. It's hardly highbrow journalism, or indeed any sort of journalism.

JKR simply stated the truth, Scarlet Blake is a man. I wouldn't have thought it newsworthy. It's like announcing that Mickey Mouse is an animation.

newnamethanks · 27/02/2024 08:51

I wish the biased media would comment similarly about Lee Anderson, Suella, Patel et al. But no. How very odd.

ShareTheDuvet · 27/02/2024 08:52

They’ve deleted it 🙄🤬

Meadowfinch · 27/02/2024 08:55

Reassuring that the Ministry of Justice haven't fallen for this nonsense, and SB will be detained in a men's prison.

DoYouWantToStartACultWithMe · 27/02/2024 08:57

Wow. In a nation where 2 women are killed weekly by men that's a pretty fucking inflammatory way to talk about a very public figure.

TheLightOfEarlyMorning · 27/02/2024 08:58

Fortunately people are posting the screenshots to their own Twitter pages and further. This misogyny shouldn’t be allowed to be hidden away. Is there a way to complain about it somewhere?

Datun · 27/02/2024 08:59

Oh dear. They clearly have no idea what that makes them look like.

Women speaking? Whatever next.

fromorbit · 27/02/2024 09:02

Including the screencaps of recent tweets below. The "I am sick of this" one has over 6.5 million hits so far.

Also this follows on from a whole series of other recent amazing JKR tweets on males in women's jails. She is on a roll.

The Variety coverage of this is interesting note how it uses Rowling's words and full quotes without much push back. Peaking time.

Andrew Pope has posted an excellent print-out-and-keep guide to people pondering whether they may open their mouths on social media.
