How the metro can put out this tweet which effectively suggests a woman shouldn't be allowed to speak is beyond me. Shocked but not surprised. Comments are heartening though, as is the ratio.

Yes agreed, JKR is always right (on this issue). She is not afraid, she has enough wealth to tell the truth. They are afraid of her telling the truth, she is well known and she is influential - which is why they are so aggressive. The tables are turning but the males are so powerful, we live in a patriarchy after all.

I don't agree with quite a bit of JKs politics and I am probably indifferent at best to her work. Nothing majorly just we have differing opinions. And I've trans friends both tw and tm, they're not mad at jk because really she hasn't ever said anything they would argue with, I really don't get the hate for JK besides, shock horror... woman with an opinion.

Absolutely. You see it on reddit, the anger and hatred towards women on some subreddits is terrifying. I think for a lot of them it comes from a place of deep inadequacy and a sense of their own failure to achieve anything. Blaming women is some consolation for coming to terms with their utter failure in life.

As soon as I read this news story I said to dh how they make it sound like it was a woman but actually it's not it's a man pretending to be a woman and giving women a bad name.
