How the metro can put out this tweet which effectively suggests a woman shouldn't be allowed to speak is beyond me. Shocked but not surprised. Comments are heartening though, as is the ratio.

I should think she has a large media team, so if you make your tribute extravagant enough, it will reach her!

Froodwithatowel · 27/02/2024 13:09

I love how she says, loudly and publicly, whatever everyone else is trying to be heard saying. And it whangs straight into the press, where everyone reads the shock horror headlines and goes.... yeah. Plain sense right there, what's the wittering about?

It's a man. The tolerance for continuing to pretend for any men is rapidly diminishing because of this ceaseless ridiculous pushing for extremes. This is the general public starting to get really pissed off.

lechiffre55 · 27/02/2024 13:11

So the murderer also identifies as a cat?
Do we have a prison for cats? What if they ask to go to cat prison and we don't have one?
If that happens can we get Nicola Sturgeon back to answer questions about which prison a murderer who is a cat should be housed in? I think it could make a great season 2 to season 1's rapist gender & mein campfervan story arc.

I know I'm being facetious above, but there is no difference between believing you are the opposite sex and believing you are a different species. I'd really like to see some of the useful idiots that have nailed their flag to this insanity have to answer the series of ever more absurd questions that follow on in this delusion so I can watch them squirm as they are forced to confront the absolute ridculousness of the consequences of their actions.

Should cat prisons be segregated by gender into men's and women's cat prisons? Stay tuned for this and many more exciting questions....

How fucking despicable of them to say that.

I don't agree with quite a bit of JKs politics and I am probably indifferent at best to her work. Nothing majorly just we have differing opinions. And I've trans friends both tw and tm, they're not mad at jk because really she hasn't ever said anything they would argue with, I really don't get the hate for JK besides, shock horror... woman with an opinion.
Intelligent woman to, how very dare she 😂

Which bit of JK's politics don't you agree with?

I know hardly anything about her politically.

This lot were born out of their time. Sad. No witches being burned alive, no one being ducked and drowned in their village, no scolds' bridles, what's a ragingly nasty piece of work supposed to do for their kicks?

Nah, I don't think woman-silencing misogyny ever went away.

They bloody hate that they can't cancel Rowling!

You mean, open our mouths? How do we dare?

I am off to dare!

How very Taliban adjacent of them.

My gratitude to and admiration of JKR increases every day - I have a bit of a HP merchandise problem as a result.

I can't understand how no-one is speaking up about the horrendous disrespect these lies about the sex of this male murderer show towards Jorge Martin Carreno and his* family.

*Note that I do not know Jorge's gender -based pronouns so am using standard English. No-one has presumably bothered to find out if they were different from sex based, certainly none of the news outlets. And of course no-one can ask him directly now because the man 'Scarlet' Blake killed Jorge. But yet they're falling all over themselves to comply with Jorge's murderer's demands. Clear siding with the murderer over the victim. I can't see how it doesn't breach all kinds of standards.

I think she used to be a Labour supporter. But like many of us, she might not be any more. Because of their woman-hating stance on this biological women’s rights issue.

JK Rowling: Nandy 'one of the biggest reasons' women on Left don't trust Labour’

Froodwithatowel · 27/02/2024 13:18

JKR's politics?

Well I admit, I've always had a bit of a problem with the budgeting for the decoration of the ministry of magic. All those gold statues, and yet the poor employees have to flush themselves in from the public loos. Where's the inquiry?

anunlikelyseahorse · 27/02/2024 13:20

RebelliousCow · 27/02/2024 09:33

I'd really like for someone to ask Lisa Nandy her perspective on the situation. She is just one of the Labour MPs who declared that TWAW and that they should be housed in a prison of their choice, according to how they "identify".

Edited

Fml no wonder our country is in a state if this is how our politicians think, hmm think is perhaps not the right word here, as clearly no thought process in that statement. It really is a cult isn't it, but it's a worry those who'd like to be in power can't see it.
Now be good children and repeat after a me "there is only one true sex, man who can and shall be both man and woman". And that's why the population is dropping" repeat ad infinitum

cerisepanther73 · 27/02/2024 13:22

I used to think the metro was ok read to while the way the time hanging about waiting for whatever trains would turn up,

Now after reading this i think it's on similar lines between as The Sun newspaper The Daily Star newspaper and the Viz comics,
It's as about as credible as that...

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 27/02/2024 13:22

And isn't it interesting that people who identify as cats may harm... cats? In grotesque ways, no less.

Did his cross-species identity necessarily indicate respect and admiration of cats? Should cats have found his wish to be considered a cat flattering?

IamRoyFuckingKent · 27/02/2024 13:22

FFS
Love, as ever for JKR ❤

Yes. It throws it all into sharp relief doesn’t it?

beatrix1234 · 27/02/2024 13:24

Oh the misogyny of the British media! As a woman this is so Embarrassing and infuriating to read. Yep…In their eyes Why can’t women just …keep quiet?

PaperWalkAndTalk · 27/02/2024 13:27

The trouble with modern journalism today is this desire to put personal opinion into a headline and to tell readers how to think; "sadly opens her mouth again", when an unbiased headline would be "JKR criticises Sky News".

It is this current generation of journalists who are not being told to leave personal opinions out of reporting. Write an opinion piece instead.

EdithStourton · 27/02/2024 13:32

Boringlaptopday · 27/02/2024 10:29

I’m sure they are sad about it. JKR shines bright light on all their bollocks. ( And almost literally).

That has made my lunchtime!

GailBlancheViola · 27/02/2024 13:35

Deleted or not the level of misogyny and downright contempt in that tweet is off the scale.

SinnerBoy · 27/02/2024 13:44

The people responsible for it need a real roasting, jeez, it's just indescribable.

They can't do that because then they would have to say 'JKR critices Sky news for calling a male a woman'. Which they also do.

Once you twist reality you cannot untwist it. They all fell for this shite and they are unable to straighten it back out again.

Totallymessed · 27/02/2024 13:49

BitingtheSkirting · 27/02/2024 12:52

I think the papers may be playing the long game.

'See, we didn't call this murderer a man. We are respectful and careful about gender identities and made sure to say WOMAN until some of our readers couldn't take it any more. Then we just reported in terribly shocked tones how awful it was that JKR didn't recognise Blake's murderous femininity...

Oh gosh, has everyone now realised this was a male crime? Never mind, not our fault.'

I'm sure it must be difficult for them, but they are supposed to be journalists. Printing things that they know are untrue hoping that someone else will be brave enough to print the truth. It's not journalism, they are engaged in propaganda. We're in a situation where it's a novelist speaking the facts and the "journalists" are writing what they are told to.

As good old George said:

In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
– George Orwell

Ah no, @Meadowfinch, I have to disagree with you there: the Metro has other uses than merely protecting one's clothing from a dirty train seat.

It's quite good for lining litter trays, too.

And not bad for stuffing down wet shoes to dry them out after a particularly rainy walk.

On another bit of derail - why is 'sadly' inserted everywhere now? I heard some idiot on the radio say someone had 'sadly been murdered'. Say tragically if you must, but sadly?

I don't know why it's 'sad' that JKR opines on this topic. Personally, I'm joyous that she can and does so.

I think it comes from single family anhilators (men who kill their families then top themselves). The press would bang on about the tragic loss of life when it was due to some ah man who was probably about to lose wifey and kids for being a prick.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 27/02/2024 14:06

How dare you put this thread in 'Feminism'. This is not a feminist issue, it is not our crime.

IncompleteSenten · 27/02/2024 14:11

Trans ideology and its impact on women and the hatred for women who don't centre men and who stand up for women's rights is 100% a feminist issue.

Yep. Particularly on the Sex and Gender Discussion board.
