How the metro can put out this tweet which effectively suggests a woman shouldn't be allowed to speak is beyond me. Shocked but not surprised. Comments are heartening though, as is the ratio.

I noticed on ITV news the female reporting on the story at no point referred to Blake as a woman or she. Don't say he was a man either.
Just kept referring to him as 'Blake then sent their jacket to their partner etc';
Half a win?

WandaWomblesaurus · 27/02/2024 10:17

I can just imagine the sweaty little TRA who typed that getting hot and bothered about shutting her up.

Makes me think of that idiot Jameela telling JKR to "shut mouth and open purse"

or Body Shop "Have a bath"

However as we know JKR won't shut up. Because unlike these sick fetish pandering fools, she understands the difference between morally bankrupt behaviours and speaking the truth.

Damn cis woman daring to raise valid concerns about reporting of dangerous criminals.

Ironic that I don’t see the TWAW brigade welcoming this killer with open arms.

He killed a cat.

No one is prepared to defend that. Do you not remember Cherie Blair vs Humphry?

Boringlaptopday · 27/02/2024 10:29

I’m sure they are sad about it. JKR shines bright light on all their bollocks. ( And almost literally).

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/02/2024 10:35

Was this also in the print version?

Anywherebuthere · 27/02/2024 10:37

Rowling is right though isnt she? So whats the problem.

Rowling is right though isnt she? So whats the problem.

She is always right. But the TWAW brigade don't actually listen to her words.

PronounssheRa · 27/02/2024 10:40

Even by the metros low and ever plummeting standards that is a god awful take.

CatBumJuice · 27/02/2024 10:41

I was pleased to see the 10 o'clock BBC New item on it referred to him as a trans woman throughout, and said he'd be going to a male prison.

Polkergheist · 27/02/2024 10:59

Add MyLondon for not mentioning that Blake is transgender until below-the-fold. The paper also signally fails to mention that Blake's lover is transgender.

This is a serious thing. The metro is a free sheet with enormous circulation. They have stands in publicly owned space - in every tube station. If they pull stunts like this, they should have that privilege revoked.

Agreed. I don't think we should be saying "it's not exactly high brow journalism so it doesn't matter"

It matters. It's everywhere and it's free. It was the primary way I consumed news in the 2000s when I was a teenager/early 20s commuting. People read this. People will be influenced

Oneearringlost · 27/02/2024 11:14

Well, maybe someone was listening...he has been placed in a man's prison.

ForTonightGodisaDJ · 27/02/2024 11:44

They're just making themselves look stupid and misogynistic like another poster said.

cerisepanther73 · 27/02/2024 12:08

@DayAndAge

Andrew Pope take,
His diagram on this topic has nailed it 👌 spot on .!

SabrinaThwaite · 27/02/2024 12:16

Wheresthescissors · 27/02/2024 09:23

What does that mean? According to TWAW, if this person says they are a woman then they are a woman.

Oh yes indeedy. I’m sure this TW would be very happy to share a cell with this convicted murderer if it came to it.

JK Rowling has sadly opened her mouth again
SabrinaThwaite · 27/02/2024 12:20

Always nice to see MN getting a mention in dispatches when it comes to protecting women and girls - thanks India!

maltravers · 27/02/2024 12:21

The Metro is sadly channelling misogyny again.

lechiffre55 · 27/02/2024 12:24

I enjoyed the MN shoutout too. Thanks for that India.

Is it me or are the press treating JKR as being a worse person than the guy who killed a cat, blended the cat corpse, and then killed a person?

caringcarer · 27/02/2024 12:27

JK Rowling speaks the truth. The killer was not a female. The killer was a male and will be going to a prison for males.

maltravers · 27/02/2024 12:27

Well she (JKR) is actually a woman you know Le Chiffre

I was pleased to see the 10 o'clock BBC New item on it referred to him as a trans woman throughout, and said he'd be going to a male prison.

The BBC actually referred to him as a transgender woman which is as clear as mud for many people - does it mean a man who thinks they are a woman or vice versa? - but yes they did say he'd be going to a male prison.

TeenTraumaTrials · 27/02/2024 12:29

I do think all of this could be avoided by simply stating the truth - "Blake, who is a biological male who identifies as a woman" - but hey I'm a simple soul.

He identifies as a transwoman and a cat.
