OMG - she teaches English language.

ickky · 13/10/2023 17:16

NS - I am not known as a Trans ally publicly.

OP posts:
LarkLane · 13/10/2023 17:16

So she went looking for shit on sm?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/10/2023 17:16

Sounds like it.

Mmmnotsure · 13/10/2023 17:17

NS: Not sent directly to me. In my teaching I'm not massively publically known as a t rights ally so students wouldn't have known to contact me.
It affects several people who are very close to me personally

Signalbox · 13/10/2023 17:17

Are all the OU's witnesses going to be this batshit do we think?

LarkLane · 13/10/2023 17:18

I hope so @Signalbox

LarkLane · 13/10/2023 17:16

So she went looking for shit on sm?

I wrote it down. She said 'I went looking'.

Mmmnotsure · 13/10/2023 17:19

J: You say your ideology and experience led you to think GC = transphobic. In your WS - 'it seems to me that this terminology originated from need to put out anti-trans arguments'

NS: when I saw people calling themselves trans exclu and also GC - they are the two same groups of people

ickky · 13/10/2023 17:19

NS released

Back on Monday at 10am

Oh judge it will get worse

MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 13/10/2023 17:19

"Could have been worse I guess" said the judge.

"Rest your voice Ben" said Jo.

ickky · 13/10/2023 17:21

It seems to be one after the other that have extreme views. This is not good news for academia.

AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!
That's better.

She was skirting around not saying 'terf', wasn't she?

I haven't seen anyone describe themselves as 'trans exclusive', only GC.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/10/2023 17:21

I think it speaks to the point of why the GCRN both was needed and didn't already exist

OvaHere · 13/10/2023 17:22

Well this week was fun. Wonder what next weeks witnesses will bring?

RethinkingLife · 13/10/2023 17:22

JoIsBraverThanIAm · 13/10/2023 17:06

Btw it may help to be aware that Associate Lecturer in the OU is what used to be called Tutor. This particular witness has a PhD from Nottingham in 2017 and, as far as I can see, no peer reviewed publication ever.

NS delivered well-received conference paper on the fact that text could be removed from The Gruffalo and it would be a narrative poem.

In all seriousness ickky, it's incredibly alarming. And I've just seen the Gruffalo link ffs.

MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 13/10/2023 17:23

I've just googled and the OU has 1200 academic staff and 900 post grad students. So 18 out of 2100 is less than 2% overall - the question is are they representative of the whole or just the extremists?

JoIsBraverThanIAm · 13/10/2023 17:24

Good find @RethinkingLife (and it's an interesting point, maybe she should stick to her field) - but I think in that discipline, unlike some others, conference papers are not peer reviewed.

pronounsbundlebundle · 13/10/2023 17:26

Sisterpita · 13/10/2023 17:00

Do they never consider the harm to GC staff and students.

No, and I bet there are more GC students than trans.

Also, all the 'distress' of trans students about setting up a research network to research the reality of biological sex. This is what happens if you commit the abuse of telling people that other people talking about science means they hate you.

These people mentally abuse confused young trans people and make them feel scared of everything as a tool to enable their zealotry and bullying.

CriticalCondition · 13/10/2023 17:29

On Monday I think we have Williams, Bowes Catton and Shakesheft, not necessarily in that order. That's 2 and half hours cross exam according to BC's estimate.
Are we also expecting Dr Drake?

pronounsbundlebundle · 13/10/2023 17:29

Encouraging this lack of resilience in young people in relation to reality is really not very kind.

Mmmnotsure · 13/10/2023 17:29

Thank you for all the times you've made me laugh today. Your comments are offsetting, to some extent, the awful realisation that the world has indeed gone mad and academia could be lost.
