You may attend in person or remote viewing has been quite limited but you can request log in details from

Email [email protected]

Header should read

URGENT CURRENT CASE - Public Access Request - J Phoenix - The Open University - 3322700/2021

ALL OU witnesses.

Wow.

Mmmnotsure · 16/10/2023 10:55

DarkTunnocks · 16/10/2023 10:54

I'm mostly lurking here - thank you to everyone who is keeping us informed.

Quick question, can I just check - are these witnesses ones who the OU have put forward in order to defend their case?! Or just people who were involved and so are 'witnesses' for either side?

@DarkTunnocks You may well ask! These 19 witnesses are people the OU have called FOR their case

Melissamelisante · 16/10/2023 10:56

MrsDoylesCake · 16/10/2023 10:53

I think the OU witnesses are all confused about who is on trial at this tribunal.

I think you are hitting the nail on the head here. They are all here to make it clear how abhorrent Jo is and her views. They do not feel they are having to justify themselves at all. They are here to tell the world how terrible Jo is.

Mmmnotsure · 16/10/2023 10:57

CW is now "trying to differentiate between "network with a small 'n' "
or ...

I don't know. Some other bollocks

RocketPanda · 16/10/2023 10:57

I would bet my house they use a terf blocker on Twitter so think everyone sees them as reasonable and right, akin to those living in religious communities.

ickky · 16/10/2023 10:57

You would think the OU would have chosen witnesses that were level headed, apart from Ian Fribbance, they all seem to be TRA's .

BC: you end with "Let's get together and mobilise some solidarity comrades"

[we are in The Young Ones]

Are these comrades staff or students?

In the Gibson's Bakery v. Oberlin Case weren't there some e-mails that showed staff were actively encouraging a student mob to picket the bakery?

LarkLane · 16/10/2023 10:58

DarkTunnocks · 16/10/2023 10:55

Wow.

Fans DarkTunnocks who has fallen into faint, and waves a caramel wafer under nose. There There my dear.

Mmmnotsure · 16/10/2023 10:59

BC: not my q. I'm going to suggest you are again disingenuous and mincing words c what is being asked c this letter. Asking OU to treat GCRN less favourably than any other networks.

CW: no

CW continues to go a'weaselling again.

LargeSquareRock · 16/10/2023 10:59

These people are morons.

Staff I think but not sure

CriticalCondition · 16/10/2023 11:00

CW - we took into account the record of the members of the research network

Mmmnotsure · 16/10/2023 11:00

CW: we were not confronted with a Platonic ideal research network

mushti · 16/10/2023 11:00

Nobody is giving evidence in chief here, the OU witnesses aren’t led through their witness statements by their own side’s counsel; is it tribunal practice to accept the witness statement into evidence and go straight to cross examination?

ickky · 16/10/2023 11:00

yes @mushti

If I never hear the word 'harmful' again, it will be too soon

CriticalCondition · 16/10/2023 11:01

CW - there were people with problematic records with respect to students and freedom of speech

Ameanstreakamilewide · 16/10/2023 11:01

Or problematic.

Farmageddon · 16/10/2023 11:01

Mmmnotsure · 16/10/2023 10:48

@Farmageddon I use c for circa (in all kinds of ways - around, about, etc). Not sure c others.

Ah cool, thank you.

pronounsbundlebundle · 16/10/2023 11:02

Look the answer is obviously 'yes' - yes they wanted to shut JP down but they don't want to admit that so they're self-identifying their answer as 'no'.

I.e. up is down, and we can trust nothing they say as they're liars - that's a fundamental core guiding principle of the ideology. The only one who had any competence or integrity was IF.

I hope BC now comes in with GC beliefs are WORIADs because these people definitely believe they're not and that they know better than the courts. They are totally misinterpreting the law left right and centre.

Chrysanthemum5 · 16/10/2023 11:03

These witnesses love an opportunity to lecture - and it shows me that being in an actual lecture by them would be tortuous

Chrysanthemum5 · 16/10/2023 11:03

Now CW is sounds annoyed

ickky · 16/10/2023 11:03

CW we do not object to the existence of the GC Network, just the OU platform and endorsement.

OP posts:
CriticalCondition · 16/10/2023 11:03

CW - one thing we were v clear about was that we were not asking the OU to shut it down. We didn't want them to have access to the 'brand'.

Zebracat · 16/10/2023 11:03

They all seem very reluctant to admit anything about the open letter , so the fact he admits he wrote it or co wrote it is an advance, although obviously it doesn’t say what Jo thought it says.As it’s an open letter, any chance some clever person can tell me where to find it?
