You may attend in person or remote viewing has been quite limited but you can request log in details from

Email [email protected]

URGENT CURRENT CASE - Public Access Request - J Phoenix - The Open University - 3322700/2021

'I was thinking about the LGBT network, the claimant wasn't in my mind at all'. BINGO

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/10/2023 16:20

The GCRN home page

The Gender Critical Research Network brings together a range of academics and scholars who share a common interest in exploring how sexed bodies come to matter in their respective research fields. The network is also for those who share a common commitment to ensuring that a space within academia is kept open for rigorous exploration of issues of sex and gender, including critiques of gender norms and stereotypes and conceptual interrogation. We provide a hub through which theories and research can be shared and exchanged, via maximally accessible academic events and an active distribution list. We aim to foster evidence-based and rigorous research in this burgeoning field and explore ways to foster maximum knowledge exchange, impact on policy and ideas and dissemination.
We encourage membership from across all faculties and from outside the University. We also encourage involvement from PGR, academics and researchers who are interested to understand and know more about what is meant by gender critical research.

PK - To be frank I wasn't thinking about the claimant. I was thinking about the LGBT network. I wasn't thinking about the claimant at all.

Too right.

Mmmnotsure · 13/10/2023 16:20

PK: To be frank I wasn't thinking about the claimant. I was thinking about the LGBT network. The claimant wasn't in my mind at all.

[To Claimant, add women. Ever.]

Sisterpita · 13/10/2023 16:21

The advice I had when I was a witness was:

  • answer the question clearly. Then expand if necessary
  • Talk to the judge
  • Talk slowly as the panel take notes
  • Be honest, don’t worry if you think it undermines the case, that’s my job (barrister).
ickky · 13/10/2023 16:21

He is so verbose.

ickky · 13/10/2023 16:22

Is there ANY evidence that he isn't hostile to GC networks?

OP posts:
MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 13/10/2023 16:22

@Sisterpita I was told - if the question is "do you know today's date?" then the answer is yes (or no). If they want to know what the date is, they will ask you "What is today's date".

Mmmnotsure · 13/10/2023 16:22

PK: I am not in any way hostile to GC research. I am here to tell you the truth that I'm not.

The impression I have formed is that PK et al research into the trans side of things ignoring the impact on women, whereas the GCRN wanted to look at things from a sex / women point of view. Is that broadly right?

iirc, GCRN wanted the right to conduct research that didn't start from a foregone conclusion. E.g., a wider evidence base than Harper's tiny sports study.

Linda Blade's book likewise highlights scant evidence for GI assertions and its disproportionate impact on international governing bodies for sports.

"N=8" denotes the number of male born runners it took to change the rules of sport for ALL female athletes in the world across ALL sports.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) changed transgender participation rules in 2015 based upon a single flawed study of eight male runners who self-reported a reduction in their running times after undergoing hormone replacement therapy."

I genuinely think he feels he is really teaching BC a lesson. It's always astonishing how delusional some people can be

'gesture of solidarity' motivation for signing the letter. Seems witnesses are coached to say this.

Melissamelisante · 13/10/2023 16:24

He's telling Ben off.

katmarie · 13/10/2023 16:24

Ben pointing out that no one seems prepared to admit they support the letter they signed.

CriticalCondition · 13/10/2023 16:24

Unthinking and groundless support isn't solidarity—it's Lifton's 8 criteria for thought reform.
