I don’t know if she can win given it’s been a Labour constituency since it was formed (in 1980s) and was held by Frank Dobson and then Keir Starmer and according to data is a ‘progressive’ constituency, average age 41 and good job security. Interestingly I can’t find data on constituency make up by sex.

I’m not sure she’s expecting to win. She knows she can cause an awful lot of disruption though. And I say bring it on!

I'm desperate to be able to vote in a socialist government without signing the lives of women over to "progressive" men.

I also say bring it on.

NZKateS · 29/03/2023 12:46

I love her more than ever - yes please bring it on.

Rarar · 29/03/2023 12:47

I (sadly) don't think she'll win but the sunlight her campaign will bring will be glorious, which is the whole point. That said I do think a lot of people are ready for something 'different' politically and stranger things have happened! I have huge admiration for her for even trying, whatever the outcome.

7Worfs · 29/03/2023 12:47

Very clever move. She knows she won’t win, but she will make him squirm and look like an idiot. If she gets good media coverage she could cost Labour the elections.

If she comes up with something hilarious and incisive like “I’m not a vet, but I know what a dog is” in a debate against him, he’s toast. 🤭

maltravers · 29/03/2023 12:50

Yes, the point is so that he can’t duck questions and to make him spell out Labour’s position on sex based rights/whether female “sex” includes transwomen in the equalities legislation etc.

WickedSerious · 29/03/2023 12:52

This is all about getting him into a debate and hopefully forcing him to answer some of those oh so tricky questions concerning us pesky women.

Beowulfa · 29/03/2023 13:00

Of course she won't get near winning. She will however get a shit ton of publicity as journos will love her, and she's going to make Starmer look like a village idiot if he doesn't start making clear statements about single sex spaces.

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 29/03/2023 13:00

Brilliant move. Will make the election far more interesting - and entertaining.

Giggorata · 29/03/2023 13:02

Rubbing my hands together with glee at the prospect of the debates… 😀

risefromyourgrave · 29/03/2023 13:02

I can’t wait for this. Keir Starmer is such a drip, he needs to get a spine and actually say what it is he believes in.

Floisme · 29/03/2023 13:03

I very much doubt she has any expectation of winning, but if she succeeds in exposing the idiocy and misogyny of gender ideology then she'll be doing us a huge service.

I admit I'm a bit apprehensive that the Labour TWAW lobby will realise they can't possibly win in a debate and so will double down on the smearing. Indeed it's arguably already begun.

Redshoeblueshoe · 29/03/2023 13:06

This is going to be so much fun
Bring it on

heathspeedwell · 29/03/2023 13:07

The more journalists who see her, the more chance she will get coverage on more mainstream media channels. She'd be wonderful on Question Time for example.

AlisonDonut · 29/03/2023 13:08

She knows she isn't going to win against Keir Starmer! She is doing this to show his lack of backbone when it comes to women and girls.

Hepwo · 29/03/2023 13:10

That's going to be fascinating, watching all the Labour supporters and spokespeople calling her a Nazi and losing 100s of votes every time they do!

JacquelinePot · 29/03/2023 13:11

I can't imagine she'd want the hassle of being an MP, but the PR generated in the process will be bloody GLORIOUS

SapphosRock · 29/03/2023 13:18

This is what happens when male politicians completely lose touch with their female voters.

maltravers · 29/03/2023 13:18

Well, the GI side are all for “accountability” as per dear Graham Norton, so I’m sure KS will welcome explaining his views on the (lack of) rights of women and girls to object to TW access to our spaces, to whether he thinks we have a right to name ourselves as “women” not “vagina havers”, whether we are graciously permitted to object to “cis” etc.

maltravers · 29/03/2023 13:19

And I’m sure the female voters in his constituency will be interested in the answers.

Pigsinspaaace · 29/03/2023 13:20

I'm going to watch this play out with great interest. She brings sunlight and logic despite all the smearing and threats.

I'm ex Alliance Party myself. I hope all parties, who claim to be progressive, will be watching just as closely.

As a voter, cowardice on this matter has been duly noted.

beastlyslumber · 29/03/2023 13:21

I think it's a brilliant move. I am a bit worried that the leftists are going to go into full on violence to try to stop her. I think she needs 24hr protection tbh.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 29/03/2023 13:21

This is going to be fun

is it possible for Starmer to look even more like a wet lettuce?

I guess we’re going to find out…

BoredOfThisMansWorld · 29/03/2023 13:27

Not had any politically incisive comments from this board's more binary thinkers and gender fans yet? This is going to be a hard situation to grasp for them. Although I agree with PP that this is probably going to drive a small number of genuinely dangerous people into a frenzy.

SmoothSeasDoNotMakeGoodSailors · 29/03/2023 13:29

And with it will bring more sunlight. Stay safe Posie.

reesewithoutaspoon · 29/03/2023 13:29

Its a tactically genius move. If she had stood in any other seat, she would be ignored, to stand against Kier forces this issue into the sunlight.
