I don’t know if she can win given it’s been a Labour constituency since it was formed (in 1980s) and was held by Frank Dobson and then Keir Starmer and according to data is a ‘progressive’ constituency, average age 41 and good job security. Interestingly I can’t find data on constituency make up by sex.

I’m not sure she’s expecting to win. She knows she can cause an awful lot of disruption though. And I say bring it on!

Just as an aside, what happened to Lily Madigan?

I've not seen anything recently, but last I remember, a number of allegations were made on Twitter by female Madigan allies and then it all went quiet. Similar to trends with other student activists.

TheGreatATuin · 29/03/2023 16:17

It would be fucking hilarious if she did win though.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 29/03/2023 16:19

"Labour and TRAs will paint her as a nut job".

They'll try - and the tedious Brighton women will be all over her with their sideswipes about Nazis and jealousy about her looks. BUT, when you hear her speak it's evident that she's not a nut job. She's intelligent, clear and speaks the truth. And they of course are aggressive, out of control and anti women & safeguarding children - they're trying to defend the indefensible and it will show.

BellaAmorosa · 29/03/2023 16:19

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/03/2023 15:38

I understood her to say her plan was to get members on to local councils, police and crime commission etc. To ensure they can't just nod through policies like toilets rape crisis centres etc being open to anyone who identifies as a woman. I think this is an excellent plan

What a massive opportunity the Womens Equality Party threw away.

What a sensible manifesto.

Ditto re the WEP. I bitterly resent all the money I gave them.

It would be awesome!!

crumpet · 29/03/2023 16:58

She may need help to raise the deposit etc to stand in due course

Needmoresleep · 29/03/2023 16:58

Who is easier to portray as a nut job. A petite articulate woman or a raging TRA.

Voters are not stupid. And would soon question Starmer's judgement.

Clymene · 29/03/2023 17:02

I posted this on the JHB thread but I really urge you to listen to Brendan O'Neill's podcast interview - www.spiked-online.com/podcast-episode/how-i-survived-the-trans-mob/

She doesn't talk about running for Parliament but it's abundantly clear she'll be a formidable opponent and I can't wait to see starmer squirm.

Faffertea · 29/03/2023 17:19

She is formidable and outside the usual TRA echo chambers what she’s saying is not exactly radical.

Female people deserve spaces away from male people for reasons of fairness, safety or dignity. That’s it.

A lot less devisive than Nigel Farage and Brexit.

And I think the fact that TRAs will go batshit over this very reasonable position will beautifully demonstrate that misogyny and narcissism are core to the ideology and that ‘fascists’ are anyone who isn’t 100% an ally. They can’t help but show themselves for what they really are and unreasonable behaviour and threats of violence are not a bug, they’re a feature.

FourTeaFallOut · 29/03/2023 17:25

Yes, what she is saying is commonplace and ordinary.

Outside of online echo chambers and beyond the walls of academic navel gazing, this idea that women don't have penises is an everyday knowledge. And yes, people who are busy getting on in their day to day lives might entertain the gender fiction to afford trans people an opportunity to live easier lives, but once they see how this goodwill was taken for granted and weaponised against women, they will be wondering what the fuck the knowledge class and their chums in parliament were fucking playing at.

And that's all she has to achieve. And I'll put my hand in my pocket for that.

TodayInahurry · 29/03/2023 17:25

Well done KJK, I would vote for you, looking forward to her making the idiot Starmer squirm!

I had a Lib Dem around the other day canvassing for council elections, I asked him what a woman was, he squirmed and muttered. Please every ask the question to any politician that comes around

Floisme · 29/03/2023 17:27

If Labour do try and paint her as a nut job, and if I end up spoiling my vote then I might do so by adding KJK's name to my ballot form.

MarshaBradyo · 29/03/2023 17:27

It’s brilliant she’s the face of all this.

It would be harder without her

Hepwo · 29/03/2023 18:03

PatatiPatatras · 29/03/2023 15:17

Labour and TRAs will paint her as a nut job.
We might know she's not but this just means her message will be heard in 20+ years. It'll be glossed over the way farage was glossed over especially if the aim is to paint her as far right.

Women who look up to her will be seen as hysterical.
No one ever listens to women. You'd need isla pink leggings complete with rape charge to run against ks before anyone takes notice of what is going on.

This is not going to be the case with floating centrist voters.

Labour supporters who are already going to vote labour aren't the target. They will try smearing every normal person as nut jobs and hysterical but to who? To labour? This is an own goal. The people they are smearing as nut jobs and hysterical are the voters they need to win an election. Labour will throw the match.

raspberrywine · 29/03/2023 14:44

Gotta love KJK.

My concern is that certain sections of msm will completely ignore KJK so her message won't get out to everyone who needs to hear it.

When it happens we have to make sure it does get out to MSM . I can’t wait to see her ask him difficult questions , and make sure he gives a straight answer , because he NEVER does .
it could be extremely interesting .

Thank you for sharing Clymene, I've just listened to it all.

What an articulate woman she is.

Her message is very clear, her view on the state of current British politics aligns exactly with mine.

Hopefully she will force the hand of Labour. Not being Tory is not enough to get the vote of women, our rights are too important.

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 29/03/2023 18:32

WickedSerious · 29/03/2023 12:52

This is all about getting him into a debate and hopefully forcing him to answer some of those oh so tricky questions concerning us pesky women.

Exactly.

I suspect the last thing KJK wants is the boring day to day work of an average constituency MP!

The point is to force Starmer into a public debate. If KJK runs against him, the news media will ask him about The New Phenomenon of the Penis-Women in every single interview. There will be nowhere to hide.

I hope they televise the constituency hustings and KJK wears an Adult Human Female T shirt at the public count.

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 29/03/2023 18:36

I loved the podcast with BO’N. I listen to him a lot and I heard the catch in his voice when he said (paraphrase because I can’t recall exactly) ‘you’re safe and back home now’, it’s obvious he has a lot of respect and admiration for her.

He wrote at least 3 excellent articles for various publications and (I believe) defended her on both Australian TV news and NZ radio.

He really gives her a chance to shine on a podcast (without interrupting or mansplaining).

JanesLittleGirl · 29/03/2023 18:47

Fair play to KJC but I can't see her gaining any traction. Labour will run "Project Avoid KJC" and she will be effectively silenced. Starmer won't spend a minute in the constituency until the declaration. He will refuse to be in the same building as her, never mind the same studio with a live microphone. MSM will treat her as just another fringe candidate and completely ignore her. Labour will discreetly request the TRAs to stay away from her hustings to avoid giving her any attention and, just to make sure, the break up any TRA protest before there is any danger of it being reported. KJC will be able to make a speech at the declaration but the TV cameras will have been packed up long before she does.

I would love to be proved wrong but.....

JanesLittleGirl · 29/03/2023 18:48

The police will break up

MandyMotherOfBrian · 29/03/2023 18:49

Oh dear, someone should buy the poor man a massive fridge to hide in. He’s going to need it.

Seeing that just a fragment made me think ‘Didn’t Sting do that ages ago’?

beastlyslumber · 29/03/2023 18:52

Thanks for the optimism, janeslittlerlgirl! Must be nice to have such a hopeful disposition 🤣

I think it's going to be amazing and KJK will, as always, find her audience.

Just googled The Police and they broke up before I was born.
