I don’t know if she can win given it’s been a Labour constituency since it was formed (in 1980s) and was held by Frank Dobson and then Keir Starmer and according to data is a ‘progressive’ constituency, average age 41 and good job security. Interestingly I can’t find data on constituency make up by sex.

I’m not sure she’s expecting to win. She knows she can cause an awful lot of disruption though. And I say bring it on!

Fair play to KJC but I can't see her gaining any traction. Labour will run "Project Avoid KJC" and she will be effectively silenced. Starmer won't spend a minute in the constituency until the declaration. He will refuse to be in the same building as her, never mind the same studio with a live microphone. MSM will treat her as just another fringe candidate and completely ignore her. Labour will discreetly request the TRAs to stay away from her hustings to avoid giving her any attention and, just to make sure, the break up any TRA protest before there is any danger of it being reported. KJC will be able to make a speech at the declaration but the TV cameras will have been packed up long before she does.

I would love to be proved wrong but.....

Your forgetting a lot of the MSM are tory and right-leaning, the daily fail has a huge readership and this is gold to them, the chance to make Starmer squirm. Most fringe candidates like monster-raving looney aren't a threat so don't get air time, but there's been enough in the media about getting Labour to answer 'what is a woman' for this to be something they can use to make him look incapable. fuck sake they crucified ed Milliband for eating a butty the wrong way and Corbyn for wearing the wrong clothes.

Thanks for the optimism, janeslittlerlgirl! Must be nice to have such a hopeful disposition 🤣

I think it's going to be amazing and KJK will, as always, find her audience.

Ha I thought that

She’ll still get headlines whether he hides or not. She already does.

That would certainly be a smart strategy to employ, but I see it this way...

For a political journalist, election coverage is normally so dull, with candidates sticking to a script, that they usually pray for a scandal to come to light, or for a "gaffe". So KJK will be a gift. Straight talking is always in short supply in politics but even more so at election time. Not to mention the visuals. This is one of those situations when sexism works for women - small, attractive blonde versus big bloke is great telly. Whether they agree with her or not, news outlets mostly just want good soundbites and eye-catching footage. Which she will provide either directly, or indirectly by providing difficult questions for KS to answer. She will get plenty of exposure and so will KS. Not all the journalists or their editors will play ball. Remember how the Scottish media suddenly wanted to skewer NS about Isla Bryson/Adam Graham? Because there was a big constitutional story + penis-hugging leggings.

IcakethereforeIam · 29/03/2023 19:12

Fuck! For a second I thought that was Eddie Izzard.

FullaSpjäll · 29/03/2023 19:15

She doesn't need to win. She needs to siiiiing!

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 29/03/2023 19:15

It might’ve been possible to get the news cycle to ignore KJK a couple of years ago, but not any more.
She’s got some proper media contacts of her own now and isn’t reliant on gatekeepers in the same way.

I expect The Guardian will do it’s best to ignore her and possibly The Metro but the other print titles and the TV media will love the circus.

Oh! You mean it's not?

@beastlyslumber did you get Izzard to model for your gif?

Boiledbeetle · 29/03/2023 19:17

Does anyone honestly think for one second KJK is going to let the press ignore this??

She will be everywhere knowing her. Any show that talks about the election i have a feeling she'll pop up!

DOBARDAN · 29/03/2023 19:26

Oh please, let it be so, how exciting!!!

colouringindoors · 29/03/2023 19:28

I am So ready for this. I was impressed with her after the LWS events, now this - brilliant. She is so brave and refuses to be intimidated despite major attempts.

Hepwo · 29/03/2023 19:43

Labour will discretely ask the TRAs to stay away!

What a beautiful statement of wishful thinking.

They can't leave her alone. Twitter is full of labour supporters on full pelt repeating the Nazi slurs.

They won't stop! Let them at it!

EpicChaos · 29/03/2023 19:55

((( YOU! )))
Yes, YOU!
What about you?!
I hope most of you are going to put your big girl bloomers on and stand for election with her?!
There's an awful lot of constituencies you know and the more women that stand, the better, so start thinking about whether you can join her and her party in standing up for women ( and kids ) if you are possibly able to.
I know it's not a cheap thing to do, politics is a very expensive business but even if you could put yourself forward as a prospective councillor, if you can't stand as an MP, that would still be excellent. The more GC women we can involve, the better.
So have a serious think about it.
We have some extraordinarily knowledgeable and able women on here and within the greater terfing community of LWS, you girls could and would make an awful lot of very beautiful noise!
Even you @Sinnerboy, you could stand in support of the cause in your local area, if you were of a mind to but you women would be brilliant.

@JanesLittleGirl KJC, janes? Who she?
( Mines a double of whatever it is you've been on today, lol :-D )

I think come the election hustings, starmer will find somewhere else he has to be but that can very easily be ' spun ' to make him out to be cowardly in the face of dealing with reality, up close and personal.

@EdithStourton I know for a fact that chipmunk identifies as a squirrel. Look it's had species confirmation surgery on its tail.

I think Kier will try to avoid her. Well, he can run.....

Maybe he can borrow Johnson's fridge?

I have a note from my cat excusing me.

Seriously though, even if I was well enough, I'm certainly not brave enough!

circleback · 29/03/2023 20:07

Lord Buckethead gets on the news so I don’t see why KJK would be ignored. She’s media-friendly and media savvy.

Hepwo · 29/03/2023 20:10

I had a labour councilor knock on my door recently.

I got the impression she already knows what I think because I've written and met my MP.

She very pointedly asked me if I wanted to say anything.

I declined, she was older than me and had a terfy glint in her eye! I told her I had not yet decided. It's a safe labour seat so makes no difference but I think on the ground women are doing it for themselves.

Posie is the best of those women. The best of us.

It's Ursula!!! Izzard can dream of being that awesome

EpicChaos · 29/03/2023 20:26

That's such a shame @Boiledbeetle but if your cat says no, well, there's no arguing with that really, is there?
I understand perfectly about your health being a bar to any plans/hopes of megalomania, I'm of the same ilk but hopefully, some of the women here can and will put themselves forward.

I mean I would, but you know you can't go against the wishes of a cat. It's just impossible!

ValancyRedfern · 29/03/2023 20:57

So excited to see how this plays out!

rhywlodes · 29/03/2023 21:11

Floisme · 29/03/2023 17:27

If Labour do try and paint her as a nut job, and if I end up spoiling my vote then I might do so by adding KJK's name to my ballot form.

I was thinking this too! Would there be a safe way to take photos of ballot papers and compile them?

OneMorePlant · 29/03/2023 21:19

I have never been this excited for a political party in my entire life!

We all know she's not going to win, but damnit it will be marvelous and exciting and hilarious!

Musomama1 · 29/03/2023 21:25

I agree with PP re MSM being conservative and KJK potentially being a disruptor to the left.

I would like to see her break through as a Nigel Farage type - single issue, plain speaking and stealing the show. Hopefully the UK is ready for this given all the debate we've had over the last year.

Unlike Farage though I totes agree with KJK.
