He must have known about BK otherwise his cabinet which includes the Minister for Justice who is in charge of the prison service is asleep at the wheel. I don't believe he didn't know.
However, the signals are brilliant. He was always a straight talker and while his star is fading a bit now, he could make a resurgence if he keeps the mammies of Ireland onside with the Gender Equality proposal for the Constitution and the schools curriculum. The danger lies in the proposed constitutional amendment I think, because while ostensibly it intends to bring equality to all who work in the home, the definition of those people may be problematic and controversial. But we shall see.
I have to say I am delighted to hear him say what he has said about women's prisons. Loud and clear no fudge.

'I know that a similar situation arose in Scotland and it was necessary there to change the law to make sure that women were protected, so we may have to consider that'
MAY?
May have to consider protecting women?
Only just heard about this case?
It's an isolated case? Is it?
Come the fuck on fella.
It's a step in the right direction but can you tell I don't trust any politician now.

Obviously he's lying. What he means is that it was only at the weekend that he realised that he was politically exposed by BK. But I'll settle for that, if we get change. And, as a PP said, once they get themselves into a SNP-type muddle of "Some TW are not really TW if they are rapists but we can't always tell which", the insanity of the whole thing becomes obvious to the public.

It was only a short while ago that the question of whether violent men should be in women's prisons could be instantly derailed by not answering it and instead impugning the motives of the questioner and implying they were being transphobic.
It's taken a concrete example in the real world, Isla Bryson, to make politicians realise they can't use that tactic now. Well, not unless they want to be seen to be visibly promoting harm to women prisoners.

Perhaps it has finally occurred to him ( a gay man I understand), that for heterosexuals (most voters) to be willing to keep voting for him, he needs to take their concerns on board as well as LGBTQ+ ones. I am primarily referring to the conflict with women's rights and child safeguarding issues.

We're talking about male prisoners in the female estate. It's not that most heterosexual voters care about it while most lesbians are fine with it.

My thoughts exactly. He's having a laugh.
Doesn't know if BK is a woman because he hasn't seen the case????
And to the journalist/reporter, the words "violent" and "biological" are redundant here.

Yes sorry I am including lesbians under women and probably should have said GTQ+ concerns.
