This is very important to read for all parents

I know it's the daily mail but this is very important about a man who talks about his journey. It's really good reporting for once! It's about his trans journey and de transition. Counselling and mental health support is vital for all..

I'm de-transitioning and blame 'woke' culture for influencing teens mol.im/a/11691635 via dailym.ai/android

How am I being unreasonable?

Because you are promoting ignorance

I voted unreasonable as it’s hardly essential reading for all parents. How is that relevant if you have a newborn or your children are grown up or you have a child with profound and multiple learning difficulties etc? Not every parent has a teen right now and even if they did the trans issue isn’t relevant to every single one.

How so?

Because you are promoting ignorance

How do you make that conclusion?

This is useful information - it is the opposite of promoting ignorance.

EscapeRoomToTheSun · 30/01/2023 22:05

How tiresome

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 30/01/2023 22:05

He's 33 and lived as a female for the past 6 months. Hardly an impressionable teenager is he?

Yingyamgwingwen · 30/01/2023 22:05

This doesn't just affect teens. Younger children are affected. Also children with SEN or learning difficulties can be affected as well.

Stonewall are targeting children age 2+. Even if you have a newborn, it won’t be long before you need to know how to protect your child from gender ideology.

He still someone's child.

It’s not just his story though is it, as you are claiming it is essential reading for all parents, as if it has some kind of widespread generalisability. Hence promoting ignorance .

I am oddly resistant to anything I am told I ‘must’ read or ‘must’ watch etc. I often miss good tv series because the minute someone says ‘you must watch this’, I switch off. So, no, I won’t read your DM link because I’m far too stubborn and your link is misleading.

Yingyamgwingwen · 30/01/2023 22:08

I know he is older but we don't stop worrying about our children. I'm glad he is getting support now.

Normally daily mail threads are utter tosh. But this one is actually really good indepth reading. I haven't said anything hateful to anyone.

CrocodileShoooooesCrocodileShoes · 30/01/2023 22:10

Its not even essential reading for people with trans kids.

He is in a totally different boat to parents trying to navigate this minefield.

There are loads of detransitioning stories, blogs, videos etc out there without sending traffic to the daily mail.

🙄. It’s in the daily mail is your first clue and yes it’s transphobic click bait .

Yingyamgwingwen · 30/01/2023 22:12

I could have worded it better but I was in a rush to type it! If you don't want to engage not a problem 🤷

Well you obviously haven't read it have you. It's his own personal journey. I can't see anything in the article that is transphobic.

Can you explain why you think is transphobic?

Mangogogogo · 30/01/2023 22:15

Do people here ever stop moaning about trans people? Jesus

Yingyamgwingwen · 30/01/2023 22:17

There is. And the daily mail does have a lot of stories that are bloody horrendous. But on this occasion I think his story is important and highlights his point of view. mainstream media is a Powerful tool. We know that algorithms only promote what we follow. So not everyone will see this story. And someone may read this as gain some insight or understanding. Or can pass it on.

OP posts:
ditherydotty · 30/01/2023 22:21

It's not transphobic, the world has gone bloody mad, its becoming a common sense phobic nation. Men who want to be a woman are still men. They can dress and act as they please, however they are still men.

Tukmgru · 30/01/2023 22:21

The moment ‘woke culture’ was blamed I rolled my eyes and remembered that it’s the daily mail and has no credibility. They could’ve told their story somewhere that had a shred of integrity if they were serious about it. They chose the DM, a prolific hate site, for it, so I have to question their motives.
