Continuation thread from Antipodean fruit grower statement

A statement from the owner reads in part:

Downtime Update as of August 26th, 2022

"What I fear more than losing my site, being sued, or dealing with police is living in a world where [REDACTED] can [REDACTED] little boys and girls into [REDACTED] and [REDACTED], while normal people are not allowed to even discuss it.

The mob has already planned subsequent targets. Should we stay down, they will then attack 'gender critical' communities - especially those ran by and for women. No place can exist online which allows criticism of their [REDACTED], and nothing would excite them more than this power and domination struggle being inflicted on a female space instead."

I would link to the statement on the Internet Archive aka "Wayback Machine" but it has made all pages archived from the relevant site unsearchable (or deleted?).

Mumsnet does not permit links to the site Archive Today so that is out too.

Reluctant to install on phone as I tend to browse on my Chromebook (old gimmer)

zibzibara · 22/05/2023 16:08

I'm not certain on this but I think the apps on Google Store also work on Chrome books?

For those with iPhones. Download the Orbot VPB app. It’s free.

Download Brave as a browser (free).

Go to the Orbot browser. Hit connect.

Go to Brave. Open a private browsing window and paste in the Antipodean agriculturalists link ending in .onion

And sneed.

Also the method for Android

TheCreamTeaWasFromMe · 22/05/2023 16:31

OK - thx will try again in a bit.

I suspect I am at the "middle aged and comfortable shoes" end of the orchard, but free speech and fairness makes for funny partnerships I suppose. I thought their coverage of Ukraine's situation was very informative.

This works for me, but I don’t need to use brave. Once I’ve connected Orbot safari works fine.
But I do have to remember to disconnect when listening to spodify or bbc sounds.

That's been the biggest reason I visit. I can get Western commentary on the Ukraine war everywhere I look (and most of it very bad). I can also find English language coverage which is pro-Russian and a lot of it is just reactionary anti-West stuff which is as bad as the anti-Russian. The Farms is one of the few places I can find both sides get to represent their points of view.

As regards visiting the site over Tor, Brave has been mentioned and Brave works fine - so long as you remember to tap the special Tor button in the address bar as for some reason it's not smart enough to recognize a Tor address and do it automatically. My preference though is to install the Tor browser itself and just know that I use that for anything that is on Tor. (Which is just KF as I've never had cause to seek anything else on Tor).

I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised by how people are just taking it in their stride and going "okay, Tor." The TRA war on KiwiFarms has probably done more to mainstream Tor than anything else in years.

Yes, I finally figured out that with Orbot I didn't need a special browser, was overthinking it!

Tallisker · 22/05/2023 17:10

Blimey I wish I knew what you were all talking about with these different browsers and how to get them on your phone. These are the "buttons for the internet, Roy", aren't they?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/05/2023 17:16

Orbot app can be downloaded from the App Store, it's quite simple to use. Connect to Tor via the purple button. Then you can just paste the onion address for KF into the address bar on Safari etc.

Made me laugh - I feel better now I know someone else is bewildered by all this Grin

I feel like Jen on one of her rage days. Tor will not download. Have tried to download brave and not working either. No idea what I am doing wrong and starting to feel annoyed so not the best mindset for working out what fuckwittery I've done to cock up something which otherwise sounds reasonably straightforward.

Will try again tomorrow. In the meantime I am relying on this thread to keep me updated on seven brides for seven farmers.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/05/2023 21:10

Are you using on a computer rather than a phone?

TheCreamTeaWasFromMe · 22/05/2023 21:28

yes on chromebook. finally got brave to work. is there an address I can C&P?

That long url should be preceded by https : //
(again, take out the spaces) - Mumsnet ate that part in my last post.

Thank you for the helpful instructions!

TheCreamTeaWasFromMe · 23/05/2023 20:28

Hope others are having more luck. Caved in and installed tor on my phone - won't connect and I keep getting a proxy server error. I've turned off antivirus and made sure DNS is set to automatic and checked I don't have a VPN already running.

At this point I have much more sympathy and understanding for my 80-something year old Dad, when I'm trying to remotely talk him through how to place an Amazon order.....

So I am giving up temporarily because I don't have any more time to give to trying to solve the issue right now, but I am glad to hear that they are back up and running.

GingerPCatt · 23/05/2023 21:20

If you’re on your phone try Orbot instead of tor. I couldn’t get tor working properly on my phone but Orbot is straightforward.

Have you informed your employer and local police station you are trying to access an anti-trans hate site?

Hepwo · 23/05/2023 21:26

We could ask the you the same question Merl.

You are on Mumsnet. Have you alerted the police?

Posting names and addresses of transpeople and their families and stalking them until they commit suicide isn't allowed on Mumsnet.

But if Mumsnet is going to allow its members to post links to hate sites which do permit the above then maybe Mumsnet could potentially be responsible?

Waitwhat23 · 23/05/2023 21:30

I do wonder if Merlin ever goes on KF to give them grief rather than whinging at us, on a completely different site (I'm guessing not).

I've never set foot on KF, for clarity, before I'm told that I should clype on myself to the Police.

Hepwo · 23/05/2023 21:42

Merl believes trans women are women which indicates a very loose grasp on the truth.

Good job KF doesn't do that and never has done that then, isn't it? Ever thought that wor Jersh might take offence at you repeatedly libelling his website by saying it's a hate site which stalks and harasses people, and invite you to, as the farmers say, fuck around and find out? Maybe you should report yourself.

PS a little way upthread you accused a trans person of trying to make trans people commit suicide, any thoughts on apologising for that, at all?
