Antipodean fruit grower statement

nothingcomestonothing · 27/08/2022 13:44

The antipodean fruit growers site is down. A statement from the owner reads in part:

What I fear more than losing my site, being sued, or dealing with police is living in a world where [redacted by me as would be against MN talk guidelines] while normal people are not allowed to even discuss it.

The mob has already planned subsequent targets. Should we stay down, they will then attack 'gender critical' communities - especially those ran by and for women. No place can exist online which criticizes [redacted], and nothing would excite them more than this power and domination struggle being inflicted on a female space instead.

Posted for info.

Yes, I have been watching Nulls change of character over the past years. He has become way more of a feminist that he will ever truly admit.
He opened up a space for Gender Critical feminists when every other site was pushing us away.

I am very grateful to him. If the Farms falls then it really is the last true bastion of free speech gone, and he is right. then the mob will turn their attention here.

The Farms must exist.

picklemewalnuts · 27/08/2022 14:00

Wow! I had no idea!

AlisonDonut · 27/08/2022 14:04

It was only a matter of time.

MorningPlatypus · 27/08/2022 14:05

Thank you.

I saw comments on Twitter saying that the people going after that site will come for Mumsnet next.

Cavvies · 27/08/2022 14:07

😂 I thought it was going to be about a small group of female apple growers in tasmania or something 😂

it is frightening

but I also think it is important to remember that the online world is important but also a different place to the real world

Rightsraptor · 27/08/2022 14:23

Indeed the online world is a very different place to the real world. But the problem is that we meet & organise online. They must be wetting themselves with excitement at the thought of that no longer being possible.

I read a post on there, written by Caroline Farrow, regarding her doxxing; and she said Null was incredibly decent to her.
And absolutely nothing like she thought he'd be.
You have to speak as you find, I suppose?

The Farms certainly are tense, but i do read it occasionally. I'm aware that there are some MN terven regulars.

Ive just signed up to Premium Mumsnet as I think they are safer the less they rely on advertising.

FOJN · 27/08/2022 14:41

To add another complication for Null, Marjorie Taylor Green was swatted and someone claiming to be a member of the antipodean fruit growers so now she's on board with trying to take the site down. I suspect foul play and manipulation. Let's hope Null can weather the storm.

The most marginalised and oppressed have power and influence we can only dream of.

“Fuck these people” indeed. Hope the fruit cultivation can continue. He’s not wrong about the agenda in taking it down.

In today's world we need the online world, many reasons why but one is to get the word out to more people. Its quicker than gossip over the garden fence and a phone tree and reaches more people.

And as the words are there in black and white, there no changing context, meaning etc. Of course snark is sometimes detected whether meant or not, but snark never did damage anyone.

I am hoping the farm survives as it is still one of the very few places we can talk about this. If its successfully taken down then MN will have a battle and I think fwr will disappear too.

inkjet · 27/08/2022 14:42

I get the impression they’re a lot more techy than MN so I’m not sure MN’ll stand a chance. Happy to be corrected!

Null has been attacked for years and Mumsnet doesn't stand a chance against these loons.

Not one single chance.

If anyone has email addresses that might be linked to you in real life I'd suggest switching it for a random unlinked email address pronto.

FOJN · 27/08/2022 14:55

The Farmers wouldn't last 5 mins on MN. I suspect they'd be quite baffled by our support of a forum which moderates it's "product" quite so heavily. Although I think they're savvy enough to be banned and come back multiple times without being detected as a PBP.

thequeensrarebit · 27/08/2022 15:00

Especially if you had a post reported a couple of months ago around the time of the big data breach that allowed TRAs to harvest the email addresses of everyone they reported.

How are you defining “women”?

Theundertaker · 27/08/2022 15:02

If only they'd target the porn sites (including reddit), which profit from the rape of women and children, with such gusto.

Yes that's in the original post.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 27/08/2022 15:49

How do you link new emails? Do you need to sign up again?

picklemewalnuts · 27/08/2022 15:52

@AlisonDonut @thequeensrarebit can I use an email address that's an alias attached to my usual one? As in my main email is [email protected], and it has an alias which isn't my name attached to it?

I'm not that clued up and can't tell whether they can be linked by techy people.

ChagSameachDoreen · 27/08/2022 16:02

Tattle.life has a decent gender critical contingent, and less ridiculous censorship than here.
