Yes, it’s the Mail. No, I’m not apologising. This is fantastic!

It’s fantastic, I really don’t understand all the hate for the Mail, you’d never get something like this in the Guardian.

bellinisurge · 01/04/2022 06:15

The Mail is a piece of shite but one day the Guardian and those other hand maiden hack rags will wonder why they didn't have the courage to cover this properly.
If it's only right wing papers that cover it ( and presumably with the bonus of winding up progressive people), I don't blame Maya and others for speaking to them. This issue needs as much sunlight and mainstream coverage as possible.
If Brexit taught us anything, it should have taught us that failing to address people's reasonable concerns will end badly.
I fear on trans people who deserve support and healthcare. Just not undermining women's support and healthcare in order to get it.

BenCooperisaGod · 01/04/2022 06:16

Those are 3 badass ladies. I am not sure i will get any knocks this time. Have already asked them all what a woman is

ResisterRex · 01/04/2022 06:24

Not to derail but if we are talking Mail vs Guardian then the former has this too:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10674561/Student-silenced-Oxford-claim-raped-halls-storm-erupts-gagging-order.html

Oxford college then run by Alan Rusbridger 'imposed blanket gagging order on woman who claimed she was raped - and the former Guardian editor desperately to convince her not to complain'

ResisterRex · 01/04/2022 06:25

Back on topic!

I'm very glad to see this campaign. There's so much sunlight we're all gonna need shades 😎

BettyFilous · 01/04/2022 06:31

This is a great campaign and very straightforward to understand. What’s the phrase, a ‘marmalade drop’ for a shocking news item read or heard over breakfast? There will be some people new to this reading all those assembled politician quotes agog. It spells out the reality of the situation, that we are talking about intact males here and the loss of single sex provisions for women AND girls. Masterfully done Maya, Heather and Caroline. 👏

Theeyeballsinthefuckingsky · 01/04/2022 06:52

Bloody hell. Front page in the newspaper read by the constituency most likely to vote. The quotes by politicians make them look like absolute fools!

Labour might finally have woken up to the damage they’ve done ti themselves but it’s a loooong way back

NonnyMouse1337 · 01/04/2022 06:53

Fantastic campaign! Hope lots of women can get involved in this, including up here in Scotland.

Here's the website with more info.

Fantastic work ladies, and thank you Daily Mail

This isn't on the mail online. Interesting.

Nice 👏👏👏

FannyCann · 01/04/2022 07:06

I've noticed DM readers comments on certain articles recently show they are well up to speed with issues and asking questions. Very heartening in some instances.

Oh yes it is, just a little down the page.... Get over there and click on it everyone. Get it to the top of the page!

OH MY GOD. This really is the tide turning. This actually is it. Front cover of the Daily Mail. (Did you know it’s taken over from the Sun as the most read newspaper?) Call to action from voters. Brilliant, brilliant campaigning by Maya and colleagues. Thank you. Flowers

Please let this not fall apart by becoming a left v right issue with voters- ALL political parties currently have this problem. Misogyny is in every party.

  • with the exception of the communists I think. They avoided gender identity politics. There were threads back awhile on that.
Bobnotpop · 01/04/2022 07:17

What a wonderful way to start off the day.

Do you think some readers will think it’s an April fools joke? I mean, some of the MPs responses read like a joke.

Absolutely agreed Bellini.

Datun · 01/04/2022 07:24

Oh, well done Maya, Caroline and Heather. Superb coverage!

Those quotes!!

And that's just the tip of the crazy.

There was a thread here five or six years ago where posters imagined the headlines as soon as the press got wind of what's going on. It felt as though it must be imminent because what was happening was so bad. But its taken years.

And now we have it. 😍

The tanker has well and truly turned.

And I'm loving Maya forging ahead, not waiting for her case result, just gathering momentum and support like the unstoppable force she is.

Vebrithien · 01/04/2022 07:24

That. Was. Fucking. AMAZING!!!

So clearly written, loved the quotes by the politicians.

Well done!

Killermontstreet · 01/04/2022 07:26

You're right Bob, the absurdity of those politicians' responses do sound like an April Fool. Fantastic to see this coverage!

Datun · 01/04/2022 07:26

They do.

And that would be another great story.

'We were inundated with readers telling us our April fools story was just too ridiculous, well...'

Taswama · 01/04/2022 07:29

Great article and the examples of sex deniers (may have just made that up) come from across the political spectrum too, so you can't just say its Labour bashing.

OverByYer · 01/04/2022 07:29

👏👏👏

And doesn’t it feel great to have been in it from the start???? The days of the red T-shirts, Speakers Corner, the Westminster Hall debate when Layla Moran told everyone she could see souls!

Thanks for sharing this great piece and hope to see it build momentum.

Should we all be writing to our MPs to ask if a woman can have a penis? What about local councillors ahead of the may elections?

For the avoidance of doubt, we want someone to be brave enough to come out and say that no, if a person has a penis, they cannot be a woman and only the male sex has a penis.

Why oh why is that so difficult, they teach this in year one don't they??!
