www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10382291/Did-Hertfordshire-Police-force-break-uniform-code-transgender-trailblazer.html

One rule for women and another for transgender women.

Having long green nails and heavy makeup, breaches Hertfordshire Police Forces uniform policy, unless of course you're trans! Then you can do what you like to "feel like a woman".

Well, Cherry 🍒 is a Special Constable, just a bit more special than others it seems. They say Special Constables are allowed a bit more leeway in such matters, so any female Specials in Herts - you know what to do.

I honestly don't get this.
As in, she's wearing make up and nail varnish.
So bloody what?!
It can't be put down to anything like '' valid concerns, taking over toilets!''
I sometimes think anyone who is trans can't win (that's a saying in the UK, it doesn't mean trying to win an end game or anything!)
Don't wear make up.
'' You look too much like a bloke!!''
'' At least makes an effort -
Stop appropriating womanhood! Who says you can wear makeup or nail varnish?!
At least make it consistent.
Or should it be that people shouldn't be trans at all?
Genuinely (honestly) curious

nocoolnamesleft · 09/01/2022 01:29

It's that actual women would not be allowed to wear them in the same situation.

NoNotMeNoSiree · 09/01/2022 01:29

Not that it matters, but I'm female and not trans at all.

OK, I get that, but as a female who isn't trans, I can do my usual self of going out every day without makeup and painted nails (which I do every single day, can't remember the last time I wore either) and nobody cares. If you're trans though, that's my point - you maybe feel like you have to fit in. As in whatever you're going to do with your appearance, there'll be someone, somewhere judging and gossiping about your looks.
ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 09/01/2022 01:42

Fitting in what? No other officer is allowed to wear nail polish and heavy makeup.

TonyThreePies · 09/01/2022 01:43

But it's not about gossiping about looks, that's the point - it's that she is going against their uniform codes and being allowed to.

OhLordyWhatNow · 09/01/2022 01:54

If Cherry wanted to fit in Cherry would follow the same rules as the female police officers.

Cherry doesn't want to fit in as it doesn't get enough attention. Long green nails and heavy makeup has got Cherry the attention Cherry craves. Though I don't think a sad face photo in the daily fail is anything to aspire to.

NoNotMeNoSiree · 09/01/2022 02:01

fitting in what
Thought that was clear from my posts?
Assuming you're genuinely asking, and have read them, I was meaning if you're trans, whatever you do looks wise isn't '' right. ''
There'll always be someone saying Erm, no.

NoNotMeNoSiree · 09/01/2022 02:03

As for the Cherry says Cherry says post, I get it.
Even though it sounds ridiculous, you make your point.
You don't want to see trans so Cherry says Cherry says instead of using any pronouns.
Fair enough

It’s because you’re not allowed to correctly sex Cherry because MNHQ doesn’t allow that.

I thought most people knew that?

We don't know Cherry's chosen pronouns.

NoNotMeNoSiree · 09/01/2022 02:44

I do.
Correctly sex.
Refuse to see as trans. Stay in your lane.
Potato, potatah.

It was clear from your posts that you either didn't read the open post and assumed everyone was criticising them for wearing makeup. Or you think this officer shouldn't have to follow the same rules as everyone else.

If they want to fit in, why would they want to stand out by not follow the rules?

NoNotMeNoSiree · 09/01/2022 03:03

I read all the posts.
My comments said that I wasn't criticising for wearing make up.
People should feel free to wear make up as and when they please if at all.
If you re read my post maybe you might get why I'm saying I can wear make up or not wear makeup and not be judged (actually, that's a laugh, just typing that made me think how I'm sometimes referred to as tired looking Hmm)
If you're trans going by this posr you're going to get commented on your looks if you wear it or not.

Female police officers are not allowed to wear heavy makeup or wear nail polish whilst on duty. They can if they choose when off duty.

Cherry can wear heavy makeup and nail polish when off duty^^ the same as every other police officer. Cherry is there to perform duties as a police officer, not give style and beauty advice.

ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 09/01/2022 03:23

I read all the posts.

Maybe you did. But you either choose to ignore the point or don't understand the point.

NoNotMeNoSiree · 09/01/2022 03:24

Omigawd yes I know, is my original point being ignored or pretending can't understand it though?!

NoNotMeNoSiree · 09/01/2022 03:24

That was to Oh Lordy

NoNotMeNoSiree · 09/01/2022 03:29

Did you miss where I said I was not trans?
Just a woman, wearing make up or not wearing make up?
Still getting judged sometimes due to the fact I don't wear it?!
How if you're trans, whether you wear it or not it's just the same if not worse.
How should a woman look, anyway?!
That conversation can just go fuck itself right away.

I find your original post hard to read. What point are you making?

That trans women don't need to follow the same rules regarding appearance whilst on duty because their 'feelings' about their visage matter more their colleagues?

The rules around appropriate dress code and appearance are there for everyone to adhere to, hence a unisex style uniform available in various sizes, whether you're male or female.

Heavy makeup on duty looks unprofessional. Long nails are a potential H&S issue and impractical when you're trying to arrest and cuff someone.

Are you a police officer?

If not whether you personally wear makeup or have long nails is irrelevant to this thread.
