If women cannot be defined biologically what happens to sex based oppression?

I mean reproductive issues such as abortion, antenatal care, maternity leave and impact on career etc.

Will we not be able to speak out on these for fear of offending the 'women' (ie trans women ) to whom this does not apply?

If transwomen are women, what are natal women... not representative of 'women' under the trans ideology it seems.

I have nothing against trans women living a life they wish and 'as a woman' if that eases dysphoria etc but my greatest fear is that female biological rights and issues will be suppressed under this ideology.

It feels like the way things are going it will be soon offensive to discuss these issues as it excludes transwomen.

Or am I exaggerating this?

Would transwomen ever support their fellow 'women' in fighting for these rights. Or see it as exclusive?

I'm referring to mainly reproductive issues as this is the one thing above all others transwomen can't do... no transwoman to my knowledge has gestated a child yet.

Fliss - for clarity, and to prevent a banning - I have to call Eryn "neptunian" on the thread?

NBs use planetary pronouns now? Sheesh, I can't keep up. Thank fuck they sent that massive telescope up. Maybe the James Webb will send some images that could be used in a zine guide to the new sexless normal.

ErynIsTrans · 05/01/2022 21:02

Hi! Thank you for the questions, I'm not a trans man, I'm neptunian, which is a non-binary gender (you can just say non-binary if you don't want to use neptunian /gen) I actually prefer to use the men's toilet because although I am AFAB (assigned female at birth) I have a masculine haircut and wear masculine clothes, so although I used to use the women's toilet, as I began to look more masculine, I would begin to get strange looks from the women in there, so for my own safety I use the men's.

And yes! I was assigned female at birth! I plan to start taking testosterone, and eventually have gender affirming surgery, so at that point my sex would be male (please don't bring up chromosomes, they're unreliable and give me dysphoria as they make me feel like i could never truly be non-binary) so although thats what the doctors decided when the analysed my body at birth, my sex will hopefully change (or at least to an extent)

If my dad came out as trans, i would use her preferred name and pronouns! There isn't a time limit on coming out, you're just as valid if you are 10 when you come out, or whether you're 60! And yes she would then use women's facilities, if she wants to/feels comfortable to. I think it would be up to her if I called her mum or not, but if she wanted me to, I would use it.

dw! you can use non-binary if you prefer!
littlbrowndog · 05/01/2022 21:06

@ErynIsTrans

that includes women who were assigned female at birth
No erynis. The sex of our babies can be seen early on in pregnancy

Why do you think girl babies are aborted.

Millions of them according to UN.

Missing girls

I've never heard a better argument for switching off the Internet, worldwide.

Also I don't use planetary pronouns! my pronouns are they/he. And nowhere near all non-binary people use neptunian as a label, they often just use non-binary, but it is something that fits me, and I like it.
HaroldMeeker · 05/01/2022 21:27

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria

I have become much more militant about language over the last 2 years.

Perhaps it's lockdown and more time to read the politics and reflect on policies and the way that women are being silenced (unsurprisingly, each of those comes with the comment "WHAT THE FUCK?")

Perhaps it's age and getting to the stage where I no longer give a shit about what other people think about me.

But, really, I think it's fear. I am absolutely terrified for what this means for women.

I'll be ok, I have resources and support - but the women who need the refuges, who are incarcerated, who are unwell and the young women who see what is going on... Fucking terrified for them.

This is the difference between TRAs and us. We care about each other. They only think of themselves.

Men are a threat to women, the stats don't even support #notallmen so I'm no longer saying that SOME men are a threat to SOME women. The men who are giving my rights away, the politicians, the executives ant those medics, police and teachers who are turning a blind eye - they are a threat.

So, no, I will not call a male person a woman. No.

Agreed.

No.

Every person on the planet is non-binary.

No human is all Barbie or GI Joe. Sorry to break it to you, but you are not as special as you think you are.

ErynIsTrans · 05/01/2022 21:45

Oh i don't think I'm special, I'm just not a woman or a man! Lots of people are trans like me

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 05/01/2022 21:45

Eryn, genuinely, I have never heard of neptunian. Totally new one on me - and I'm no ignoramus when it comes to trans issues.

Care to expand on the meaning of the term? Who gets to be Poseidian?

Alltheprettyseahorses · 05/01/2022 21:48

I've heard it all now! 'Cisgender' is not a medical term.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 05/01/2022 21:49

Jesus wept. I googled it and everything. Is it a thing to identify as an astrophysicist now? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Neptunian_object

Does this mean I get to identify as Prof Brian Cox's muse?

You most certainly are either female or male.

Every human on the planet is. It is literally how we make more humans. It is how all humans are made. Through sexual reproduction.

I don't know what people have told you but all humans are either one or the other. Not both and not neither.

Am blaming JKR for this nonsense. That woman has a lot to answer for

Neptunian gender affirming surgery. Does it involve a tripod?

littlbrowndog · 05/01/2022 22:16

No but I think the clingers might be involved.

The original definition of neptunian is a gender linked to the gender-neutrality and to a soft, masculine energy. It is never hyper masculine. It is not male-aligned, simply linked. Ones who identify as Neptunian may feel different amounts of masculine energy at different times.

Thank you for taking the time to learn!

I would get male affirming surgery because I identify most with a man
