If women cannot be defined biologically what happens to sex based oppression?

I mean reproductive issues such as abortion, antenatal care, maternity leave and impact on career etc.

Will we not be able to speak out on these for fear of offending the 'women' (ie trans women ) to whom this does not apply?

If transwomen are women, what are natal women... not representative of 'women' under the trans ideology it seems.

I have nothing against trans women living a life they wish and 'as a woman' if that eases dysphoria etc but my greatest fear is that female biological rights and issues will be suppressed under this ideology.

It feels like the way things are going it will be soon offensive to discuss these issues as it excludes transwomen.

Or am I exaggerating this?

Would transwomen ever support their fellow 'women' in fighting for these rights. Or see it as exclusive?

I'm referring to mainly reproductive issues as this is the one thing above all others transwomen can't do... no transwoman to my knowledge has gestated a child yet.

Am blaming JKR for this nonsense. That woman has a lot to answer for

JK Rowling has a lot of the same points that many transphobes have, for example, that trans women shouldn't be allowed in women's toilets. JKR has nothing to do with my identity, I don't like her, nor do i like the harry potter universe.

Why do we actually need all of these labels? Genuinely I don't understand.
I'm a female, shy and quiet etc etc but I've never had to look up what that means or what label I need. I just know that's who I am.
If you feel you want to be a man then can you not just do that? Why the Neptunian label?

ErynIsTrans · 05/01/2022 22:33

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria

Eryn, genuinely, I have never heard of neptunian. Totally new one on me - and I'm no ignoramus when it comes to trans issues.

Care to expand on the meaning of the term? Who gets to be Poseidian?

Also- forgot to cover this, but firstly, neptunian doesn't work like that its a gender, not roleplay.

Neptune is roman mythology and Poseidon is greek, and are actually the same person under different names!

Dammit *trident!

littlbrowndog · 05/01/2022 22:36

Are you a clanger erynis. Answer honestly

Moonbabysmum · 05/01/2022 22:36

Question for Eryn - one of the identities which I've read about, is identifying as a non human, anything from an alien to a fairy etc. Is it ok to discriminate against these individuals because they cannot have human rights? If they have human rights, it would surely be denying their existence? Or should we be more inclusive by ditching the whole concept of human rights?

Because I'm not a man, nor am I a woman! If you don't feel comfortable addressing me as neptunian, just refer to me as non-binary or don't refer to me at all! The label makes me feel comfortable, but you don't have to use it! Nor do you have to label yourself, its a personal decision and and no-one can make it for me.

I like to use them because this is all lighthearted discussion.

"The original definition of neptunian is a gender linked to the gender-neutrality and to a soft, masculine energy. It is never hyper masculine. It is not male-aligned, simply linked. Ones who identify as Neptunian may feel different amounts of masculine energy at different times"

Can you define "original", Eryn?

Cos, I'm assuming this "definition" was established around last October in a meeting of four navels on 4 chan.

I'm identifying as Cox's muse anyway. I don't think I need a definition to do that. I read Stephen Hawking's book about a million years ago AND I've gained half a stone over the Festivities. In fact, stuff muse - I reckon I'm more of a planet than you are. I'm claiming Venus.

littlbrowndog · 05/01/2022 22:39

So are the clangers. And well perhaps not soup dragon. As you know she has a baby

littlbrowndog · 05/01/2022 22:39

I am a human btw, if thats what you are suggesting, I've never personally had a discussion with someone who does identify this way, but I would treat them with kindness and respect for how they feel.
PlasticPlantsDontDie · 05/01/2022 22:41

I have a masculine haircut and wear masculine clothes

In what way are your clothes and hair masculine?

It has been updated to accommodate to how more people feel and to make more people included (if they want to be of course)
Waitwhat23 · 05/01/2022 22:42

I very much hope the comment from MNHQ about 'everyone's preferred monikers being respected' includes women's request not to be referred to by the made up, nonsense term cis, several of such requests which have been ignored on this thread.

And no, it is not a medical term. It is a Latin prefix meaning 'on this side of' which is mostly used to refer to chemical bonds in scientific research. It has been (incorrectly) co-opted as a term to refer to women, who refuse the validity of its use. Mainly because it is utter nonsense.

ErynIsTrans · 05/01/2022 22:43

also btw the feminine version of neptunian is venusarian, so you're very welcome to identify that way if you wish!

littlbrowndog · 05/01/2022 22:43

Erynis just having a laugh. Tbh. And watching to much CBeebies

littlbrowndog · 05/01/2022 22:44

Moonbabysmum · 05/01/2022 22:44

@ErynIsTrans

I didn't say you weren't human.

But if you were otherkin, do you think that human rights apply to them? If yes, how is that compatible with supporting their identity?

ErynIsTrans · 05/01/2022 22:44

@PlasticPlantsDontDie

I shop in the men's section, and I get my hair done by a unisex hairdresser and it is more stereotypically masculine looking
