So, the Hogwarts turncoats are getting back together, sans Rowling.

They have a brass neck, that's for sure.

Happy to ring every last penny they can out of the franchise whilst continuing to sell Rowling down the river.

Zero moral compass between them. Either they back Rowling, and thank her for the fact anyone other than their mum knows they exist, or they renounce and walk away. You dont get to have it both ways.

The only mention of JKR in the whole article is a tiny little paragraph at the end, which doesn't even acknowledge that she created the whole thing!

The documentary, as part of Movies With Ali Plumb, also saw Radcliffe pay tribute to author JK Rowling, who has expanded the Potter universe to include the Fantastic Beasts film series starring Eddie Redmayne.

That could easily be read that JKR is an author who was brought in to expand the Harry Potter universe.

Don’t they just?

Grasping little quislings. If they had any moral fibre and they thought she was that bad, they’d distance themselves. I suppose the money was really tempting.

Shimmyshimmycocobop · 17/11/2021 07:31

I'm furious on her behalf, and I think its outrageous to do this with barely a mention of its creator.

And am especially furious with the 3 main actors who denounced her but are happy to continue riding on the coat tails of the HP franchise. Angry

Whinge · 17/11/2021 07:38

Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson will join American film-maker Chris Columbus to discuss the films and explore their creation in depth.

How do you explore the creation of the films without exploring the hugely successful book series they're based on?

I'm furious on her behalf. They're erasing her from her own creation. Sad

Hateful spiteful brats the lot of them

MrsWooster · 17/11/2021 07:52

Afshan Azad (Padma P) has just tweeted her recognition and thanks of JKR; looks like it’s Ravenclaw who are brave and true at heart…

Igneococcus · 17/11/2021 07:58

Le creuset is selling a Harry Potter collection now (Deathly Hallows spoon rest, anybody?)and I just checked their site and there is no mention of JKR as the author of the books anywhere. I wonder if it has been deliberately left out.

Naunet · 17/11/2021 08:01

Surprise surprise, the pompous, spoilt little brats can’t even stand by their own morals if they’re offered some cash.

highame · 17/11/2021 08:03

Not only was she the author, she had major input in the making of the films, in fact I think she had more input than any previous writer. Therefore, anything about the creation of the film is useless without her input. However, she is the bigger person and I doubt she will concern herself with this

highame · 17/11/2021 08:03

major input in terms of interpretation. That's why they were so good, not because of three kids

Whinge · 17/11/2021 08:04

I noticed the same when looking at the new Pandora x Harry Potter collection. I couldn't find asingle mention of JKR.
loislovesstewie · 17/11/2021 08:05

They have certainly got too big for their dainty little boots. None of them would amount to anything without JKR.

Waitwhat23 · 17/11/2021 08:14

I've noticed a recent rush of articles due to to the 20 year anniversary which are just little pieces of spite frankly - titles like 'why Harry Potter should not be introduced to a new generation' and repeatedly state that
JKR is a transphobe without actually stating any evidence to back it up. It's become such a common trope that people just repeat it unquestioningly.

There's a push by many TRA's to disconnect JKR from her creation - I've seen some say that it's 'not her world any more, it's the fans' and even some slightly unhinged suggestions that she didn't create it at all. There's constant mentions of how she's rich and powerful with a convenient memory slip that she was struggling to get by when she started writing.

SuddenArborealStop · 17/11/2021 08:21

I saw this and knew immediately she wouldn't be included. They can't even pretend it's the actors only Chris Columbus was in the cast list for it

Whatsnewpussyhat · 17/11/2021 08:26

Radcliffe and the rest would be nowhere now if not for JKR.

They threw her under the bus to pander to the woke activists. Fucking pathetic.

Toomuchtea · 17/11/2021 08:36

If I were JKR's agent, I would license all merchandising rights as 'J K Rowling's Harry Potter'.

picklemewalnuts · 17/11/2021 08:47

To be fair, it's the article that's the issue- the one liner at the end specifies 'Radcliffe pays tribute...'

I hope in the actual documentary there's a lot more than one tribute! I hope the older wiser actors took the opportunity to name drop JKR on multiple occasions.

Hopefully this is a grauniad problem, rather than being a problem with the documentary. Time will tell.

Naunet · 17/11/2021 08:50

The TRAs aren’t happy with them either, which is always entertaining at least.

AlfonsoTheUnrepentant · 17/11/2021 09:05

It's very sad that the three who profited from JK Rowling's work have treated her so shabbily. It shows their true natures.

LindaEllen · 17/11/2021 09:06

I mean, does anyone actually know for sure that Jo wasn't consulted about it? Or is everyone just enjoying creating a bit of drama?

SoniaFouler · 17/11/2021 09:07

@Naunet

Weren’t two of the main three in some sort of trouble for tax dodging? This doesn’t surprise me.
3timeslucky · 17/11/2021 09:15

Not so much as a trace of a moral compass between the lot of them. Utterly shameless.

I wonder if 'the controversy' and JKR's perceived 'problematic' views will form a key part of this - in other words, if it's going to be used as a vehicle to reclaim the franchise for the die-hard fans (who watch it as comfort when they're hungover - a symbol of the weird crossover between maturity and childhood in itself.)

The bit where Judas Radcliffe says that fans feel 'very protective' of the franchise, and the films 'take them to a place of warmth and comfort' sounds a bit sinister. I have a nasty feeling this might be an expensive bit of PR to distance the whole thing from its creator, soothe the fans who feel 'unsafe' and reassure them that it's not transphobic to keep generating cash for the turncoats by rehabilitating the whole franchise from the taint of JKR's transphobia.

Hope I'm wrong.
