So, the Hogwarts turncoats are getting back together, sans Rowling.

They have a brass neck, that's for sure.

Happy to ring every last penny they can out of the franchise whilst continuing to sell Rowling down the river.

Zero moral compass between them. Either they back Rowling, and thank her for the fact anyone other than their mum knows they exist, or they renounce and walk away. You dont get to have it both ways.

@ArabellaScott

And if there was any actual justice in the world they would have had a visit from the police by now.
Yep. Ribbons and stickers are serious enough for the Police to investigate but apparently not stalking or doxxing (i.e. actual crimes).
Unmerited · 21/11/2021 00:11

It’s interesting how they can very well tell who’s female when it comes to choosing who to victimize.

PronounssheRa · 21/11/2021 08:00

I understand that but they are claiming it is due to transphobic messages, rather than admitting they did something wrong. Unsurprinsingly.

Who knew being called out for acting like stalkers is another thing which is transphobic

Sophoclesthefox · 21/11/2021 08:08

It’s easy to be righteous when you’ve utterly dehumanised people who have a different opinion. Dehumanised people don’t have rights to be respected, so JKR is fair non-human game.

What a time to be alive.

JustcameoutGC · 22/11/2021 14:05

I wonder will any of them come out and defend her doxxing today?

"They should have reflected on the fact that I’ve now received so many death threats I could paper the house with them, and I haven’t stopped speaking out. Perhaps – and I’m just throwing this out there – the best way to prove your movement isn’t a threat to women is to stop stalking, harassing and threatening us.”

And another one...

"What is important to highlight is that, when a trans person says they are male or female, that is what they are and that is how we should treat them.
"It is damaging to them to say otherwise.
"They are a very small minority who have an awful lot to deal with, and the best thing we can do is support them like we would - or should - any other human being on the planet."

I'm happy to be sympathetic to someone with gender dysphoria, sure, but why exactly should we pretend someone is male or female if they're not? Why should I have to pretend the man who raped me is female? Why should we have to pretend male bodies in women's sports are acceptable because they're just as female as ours, despite being male? Why should we pretend males are female and that's it's not massively offensive and a con when a violent male offender suddenly discovers his 'womanhood' post-arrest?

Either he hasn't thought about the problems inherent in saying males are female or he doesn't care. Not a good look either way, imo.

LangificusClegasaurous · 28/12/2021 12:24

Chris Rankin (who played Percy)-
"They are a very small minority who have an awful lot to deal with, and the best thing we can do is support them like we would - or should - any other human being on the planet."

It's so surreal how this bit is so obviously right on, so how do they get to the bit where pretending to believe things that don't make sense is something we should be doing for any human being on the planet?

Apologies to any actors reading this for any offence caused, but I do wonder why we pay so much attention to their views on contentious subjects. Some actors are highly intelligent, well-informed, sensible, clear, logical thinkers. It's not a given, though. Not many will have any scientific training or healthcare qualifications, so this subject in particular is not one they are well qualified to talk about.

What actors usually are extremely good at, in my limited experience, is talking, whether they know anything about the subject or not. Also saying what they think they need to say to secure a job, or at the very least not rule themselves out from ever being considered for another acting job again.

That's what we're seeing here. It's pitiful.

It doesn't affect him, why would he bother to think about it any more than to issue some twee "heal the world" pronouncement?

Sashimimimi · 28/12/2021 15:23

He said the wizarding world of Harry Potter and its school, Hogwarts, had long been a "safe space" for those in need.

"There is this saying that Hogwarts is a place for anybody who needs it, and it has been that for so many," he added.

"I have had countless people tell me that Harry Potter is where they felt able to be themselves.

What does that even mean? How are you either being yourself or not, through reading any particular book? Hmm Sorry, I know I’m missing the point.

zanahoria · 28/12/2021 16:28

Percy Weasley?

Cannot even remember him

0ne of the twins?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/12/2021 16:32

The third brother, after Bill and Charlie. Swot. Goes to work at the Ministry of Magic. Takes his time to choose a side when things go wrong, but does eventually pick the right one.

WorriedMumsDontSleep · 28/12/2021 18:57

Life imitating art. Percy chooses the wrong side, who use intimidation, threats and harm to establish a new world order, which gaslights the population into believing that the least powerful group(muggles) are the oppressors.
Perhaps he did too much method acting and accidentally became a misguided, sanctimonious permanently.

I’m not remotely offended.

The thing to always remember about us actors is that we’re very highly trained liars. And that we get paid, basically, to lie. And that, sometimes, lying through our teeth in interviews is part of the contract.

And if it’s a choice between lying through our teeth or never working again…

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/12/2021 19:53

@Anactor, Grin. I used to have some dealings with actors professionally. Fantastic company! Not backwards about coming forwards, either.

MargaritaPie · 29/12/2021 01:02

Even if some of the cast aren't on talking terms with JKR anymore, they will still be friends with and want to meet up with each other?

BraveBananaBadge · 29/12/2021 17:16

Interesting top line from the BBC, with a round up of reviews all asking where JKR is:

Bloodybridget · 29/12/2021 18:23

A story from the NY Times came up on my Google feed today which said that JKR is going to be included in the reunion thing, and quoted a few of the actors who had slated her saying quite friendly things about her. I wonder if this is a damage limitation exercise!

I don’t get it? Are they saying they are redoing it last minute with her in it?
BlissfullyIgnorant · 29/12/2021 19:58

@Whinge

Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson will join American film-maker Chris Columbus to discuss the films and explore their creation in depth.

How do you explore the creation of the films without exploring the hugely successful book series they're based on?

I'm furious on her behalf. They're erasing her from her own creation. Sad

Columbus didn't work on every film, did he? And the ones he did work on probably added substantially to his mint
Bloodybridget · 30/12/2021 03:38

@IHateCoronavirus sorry, it was a short piece which I didn't read with full attention, and I'm not clear on exactly what JKR was now being included in - perhaps it was some event? Vague, I know!

Bloodybridget · 30/12/2021 03:41

Just found this story in the Independent

zanahoria · 30/12/2021 09:59

I did read one piece saying she was involved but I think it just meant old clips.

Perhaps she is not interested, she does not often make media appearances and thus looks a bit showbiz and schmaltzy

DisgustedofManchester · 30/12/2021 13:46

I saw a comment on twitter today about JK being cancelled from the 20th anniversary program. I remember all the right wing press and GC social media up in arms about it. The thing is, Rowling is in the program yet amazingly, she never corrected any of the media storm at the time. Now why would St Rowling be so disingenuous?
