So, the Hogwarts turncoats are getting back together, sans Rowling.

They have a brass neck, that's for sure.

Happy to ring every last penny they can out of the franchise whilst continuing to sell Rowling down the river.

Zero moral compass between them. Either they back Rowling, and thank her for the fact anyone other than their mum knows they exist, or they renounce and walk away. You dont get to have it both ways.

I have emailed Ms Rowling's office several times and have always received lovely responses.

And I say that as someone who is not a HP fan but who admires Rowling for her writing skills, courage and generosity.

@Vanishun

Horrific person GrinGrinGrin

God how do some of you survive in the real world?

They can’t, that’s why they have to try to force the rest of us to bend reality until it resembles their fantasy world.
ArabellaScott · 17/11/2021 12:42

Yeah, that's not chilling at all. They've 'archived' a person.

ArabellaScott · 17/11/2021 12:43

And I mean, it goes without saying that JKR is a goddess among women. But I'm happy to say it again.

PrinzessinCressida · 17/11/2021 12:49

It has always been acknowledged that the films were so good because of her close involvement and ability to remain level-headed. So saying they can focus on "the creation of the film" without discussing the party she played, the inevitable compromises, the absolute hard lines she wouldn't budge on (I imagine there must have been a few), etc. is just nonsense.

Sophoclesthefox · 17/11/2021 12:50

AFAIK Ms K was invited but chose not to turn up. Was it because the rest of the cast are LGBT-friendly and she doesn't want to be around them because of that?

When you refer to “Ms K”, do you actually mean Ms R, eg JK Rowling?

And your suggestion is that she’s not appearing due to a homophobia so deep seated it extends not just to LGBT people, but to people who aren’t themselves gay or trans, but are just allies?

That’s…absolutely bonkers. You do know that, right? You’re aware on some level how malevolent and out to lunch that statement is, yes?

GromblesofGrimbledon · 17/11/2021 13:00

@MargaritaPie

Was it? Was it?

Was it because she doesn't like LGBT people? Was it because she hates trans people? Was it because she thinks trans lives don't matter? Was it because she had to wash her hair that day? Was it because she had to shave her cat? Was it because she doesn't like green eggs and ham?

We'll just never know...

ScrollingLeaves · 17/11/2021 13:04

In the end generation after generation will love JKRs books so long as those who aren’t TRAs let their children read them.

There might even be a remake of the film one day.

Beowulfa · 17/11/2021 13:15

Woman points out that the word for people who menstruate is "women".

Still awaiting an explanation as to how this is inaccurate or outrageous.

ArabellaScott · 17/11/2021 13:20

Also, apparently horrific.

Hyperbole standards are slipping, I find.

Well what do you know, I heard that JO wasn't invited because the snivelling no talent rats like EW, RG and DR couldn't look her in the face. They felt too challenged by a woman of integrity, charity but most of all honesty. One who has never said or written a transphobic thing which is why nobody can ever post a link because none exist

Greencoatblue · 17/11/2021 13:22
  • should be Jo or JK
Rhannion · 17/11/2021 13:27

Radcliffe’s mother is a casting director, wonder if that how he got the job...?
Have any of those three wee ungrateful and untalented sods been in any decent films?

ArabellaScott · 17/11/2021 13:28

I issue a challenge!

Give me a quote, o ye who despise JK Rowling. Give me a verifiable quote that she has said, that is 'bigoted' 'hateful' 'horrific' or even unpleasant? One thing. Show me one thing she has said, ever, that could justify cancelling, erasing, burning and archiving her?

I'll wait.

Snoozer11 · 17/11/2021 13:31

@HumousWhereTheHeartIs

Let's be honest, the three child actors were very average - in fact Emma Watson was awful. The reason the films are so successful is because the books are so loved. I feel very sorry for JKR for the abuse she suffered in her first marriage and for her 'cancellation'. Using the word women is not transphobic and the fact some people believe it is, is terrifying.
Average?! That's incredibly kind.

Radcliffe and Watson are nothing short of woeful. I can't stand to have either of them on my screen. I would say Grint grew into the role and is fairly inoffensive.

I genuinely cannot fathom how people can spend a decade of their formative years doing something alongside some of the best in the industry and not become even moderately proficient at it. But there we are.

For ease, I'll include JKR's essay here - www.jkrowling.com/opinions/j-k-rowling-writes-about-her-reasons-for-speaking-out-on-sex-and-gender-issues/

Those who state as fact 'JKR is a transphobe', feel free to cut and paste the relevant sections here so we can see them.

Rhannion · 17/11/2021 13:36

@Yourstupidityexhaustsme

I loved the books as a child/teenager and they were a huge part of my adolescence.

However I've never really understood the whole obsession with the 'universe' and the subsequent expansions of it. How many times can you flog a dead horse?

I personally lost support of JKR when she received flack for supporting the business that produced anti-bisexual memorabilia and anti-queerism. It was just a bit icky, read the room.

Of all the small businesses she could have supported it had to be one that promoted criticism of a very well established sexuality. That and get the 'L' out of LGBT was just too much.

It felt as though lesbianism was being fetishised over any other sexuality.

What” anti bisexual “ and anti “ queer “ was that then? Do share.
Cailleach1 · 17/11/2021 13:44

@EmergencyHydrangea

Eh, JK Rowling is completely overrated as a writer, the films are way better
I'm not sure I agree with that. As children's books, my offspring became interested in reading due to Rowlings' Harry Potter series. We started with the CD's every bed time. Then moved onto the books. It was wonderful.

The films would still have been made with other actors if the chosen lot hasn't been around. They are irrelevant, and would have been easily replaced by others without any difference to the story. JK Rowling on the other hand was the creator of the Harry Potter series. So no HP at all without JKR.

Also, I was just thinking that they could do a remake of the Harry Potter series in film, and we wouldn't have to suffer inanities uttered by the previous cohort of players. It seemed no time had elapsed before Spiderman with Toby Maguire was remade into Spiderman with Andrew Garfield.

That's a long wait ahead of you @ArabellaScott

Can I get you a cup of tea or something?

NovemberWitch · 17/11/2021 13:49

I’ll have to look at the wildwomynworkshop.comstuff and check, because I don’t remember. Lovely T-shirt’s though.

ArabellaScott · 17/11/2021 13:53

Thanks, Waitwhat. That should make it even easier for our JKR hatin' pals to point to exactly what she's said that has justified her being the subject of a modern day witchhunt.

Grombles, I wouldn't mind a biscuit, now that you mention it.

Waitwhat23 · 17/11/2021 13:55
