So, the Hogwarts turncoats are getting back together, sans Rowling.

They have a brass neck, that's for sure.

Happy to ring every last penny they can out of the franchise whilst continuing to sell Rowling down the river.

Zero moral compass between them. Either they back Rowling, and thank her for the fact anyone other than their mum knows they exist, or they renounce and walk away. You dont get to have it both ways.

@DisgustedofManchester

I saw a comment on twitter today about JK being cancelled from the 20th anniversary program. I remember all the right wing press and GC social media up in arms about it. The thing is, Rowling is in the program yet amazingly, she never corrected any of the media storm at the time. Now why would St Rowling be so disingenuous?
From the BBC story linked earlier:

"Rowling does not appear with the cast members in the special, and is only seen in archive video clips."

Wouldn't say it's JKR being disingenuous here.

When you say she is 'in' the programme, do you mean she's in the live footage? Has JKR now been invited to appear?

Or do you mean she's mentioned by other people in the programme (without being present) and appears in archive footage?

The latter is quite possible to do almost right up to the programme being broadcast and possibly doesn't even need JKR's knowledge or consent - it needs the actors concerned to be called in for an additional one day (possibly even half-day) discussion, then some time in editing to add in the new discussion and some archive clips. If JKR's original contract included the right to use archive footage for 'news' clips, the only thing they need to do is send her agent any royalties.

If they can quickly book the actors, the editing suite and find the 'in-contract' archive clips, it's not a massive problem; certainly less of a problem than 'cancelling' the author of the books was turning out to be.
