Quite jarring to hear him say it out loud but yes, this white man has stated love on the radio that there should be no spaces where biological males can’t go.
Just before 8am.

*live

No love there for women obviously!

Just heard that. Good for Justin Webb pushing him.

Clymene · 17/09/2021 08:04

just posted a duplicate thread. It really is extraordinary

somethinginoffensive · 17/09/2021 08:05

Yeah I just heard that ... men deciding that men can go wherever they want.

Me too.

Absolutely clear gender ideology is a MRA movement.

It was an outrageous statement.

But I don't understand what him being white has to do with it?

CigarsofthePharoahs · 17/09/2021 08:10

So it's a lib dem MP? Colour me unsurprised.

somethinginoffensive · 17/09/2021 08:11

Quote

"So there should not be spaces where biological males cannot go?"

"No, precisely"

somethinginoffensive · 17/09/2021 08:12

Fucking outrageous!

EdmontinaDonsAutumnalHues · 17/09/2021 08:13

I was listening and, frankly, had the feeling he didn’t understand either the question or his own answer. But I don’t know enough about him to be certain.

It was an alarming thing to hear said out loud.

somethinginoffensive · 17/09/2021 08:16

Why would you think he didn't understand? Justin only mentioned women's spaces and whether there should be spaces biological males weren't allowed to go.

Both times the answer was "no".

Forestdweller11 · 17/09/2021 08:16

Juxtaposed with the 8.15 interview re women being/feeling safe ...

sashagabadon · 17/09/2021 08:17

I thought the Lib Dem’s wanted to appeal to disillusioned Tory voters in the shires. Good luck with that with their gender woo position. It’ll sink them like it did last time

KaycePollard · 17/09/2021 08:19

Sunlight.

Fucking entitled male privilege

Theeyeballsinthesky · 17/09/2021 08:19

Ah the Belcher effect in the Lib Dem’s. It just keeps on giving for them doesn’t it?

CatsOperatingInGangs · 17/09/2021 08:22

I believe Davey, like I, has a disabled child. I can’t believe he does not believe his child is entitled to same sex intimate care.

Ed Davey on LBC was unequivocal having listened to women's concerns about female single sex spaces being mixed sex and who feel threatened,

"I don't agree with them"

He also thinks women just "don't understand the facts and experience [of transwomen]"

TabbyStar · 17/09/2021 08:23

Surely Ed Davey is being transphobic agreeing that transwomen are biological men.... I'm not entirely sure he knew what he was saying either.

Hathertonhariden · 17/09/2021 08:24

I posted about it in Chat

42SrauvP · 17/09/2021 08:24

Justin Webb is always really good on this subject.
My all time favourite retort of his was “you don’t know anything about me” when someone tried to refer to him as cis gender.

By the way (in response to a PP) I referred to Ed Davy as a white male because he is one, and that happens to place him in a position with huge privilege, as opposed to say, women who need safe spaces. He will never suffer the consequences of his beliefs. Shame on him. He has told us who he is though, and we should be glad of that. Too many politicians are afraid to say what they think.
Anyway I’m thinking about my you young daughter and how a senior politician believes she should never be able to go anywhere that a biological male can’t follow. Because that what it boils down to.

Glad a light has been shone on him. Listening to the debate I have minimal confidence that the police will do anything effective either Just think of them spending all that money on rainbow coloured police cars etc. How about police cars with pictures of battered women and children on them instead?

Zeugma · 17/09/2021 08:25

@Forestdweller11

Juxtaposed with the 8.15 interview re women being/feeling safe ...
Exactly.

It was jaw-dropping that the question to Davey was specifically about women and his answer was specifically about trans. He couldn't even bring himself to utter the word 'women' (and, indeed, didn't at all, iirc).

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 17/09/2021 08:26

Its horrendous

Do they not actually want to be a political force in britain?

Didnt whats her face say that (paraphrasing) ‘ if you believe in biological sex we don’t want your vote’….it was something like that

You’d think it couldn’t be much worse than that…Ed seems to have managed it though

1Endeavour2 · 17/09/2021 08:26

Does he think male bodied people should be allowed in teenage girls changing rooms too?

EdmontinaDonsAutumnalHues · 17/09/2021 08:27

Justin Webb is always really good on this subject.

Yes, he is.
