Quite jarring to hear him say it out loud but yes, this white man has stated love on the radio that there should be no spaces where biological males can’t go.
Just before 8am.

@Theeyeballsinthesky

Ah the Belcher effect in the Lib Dem’s. It just keeps on giving for them doesn’t it?
Belcher supported Davey's bid for leadership and he in turn expressed hopes that his friend, Belcher, will be an MP in 2024.

Ed Davy on R4 Today - there should not be safe places for women
July 16th 2020
Ed Davey on LBC was unequivocal having listened to women's concerns about female single sex spaces being mixed sex and who feel threatened,

"I don't agree with them"

He also thinks women just "don't understand the facts and experience [of transwomen]"

twitter.com/LBC/status/1283844809405464576
Hes a blithering idiot

I voted for them a few times, then they said they didnt want people like me to vote for them so that made life easier at the polling booth

1Endeavour2 · 17/09/2021 08:29

Amazing that the BBC actually didn't censor this out. They have sink so low I elect nothing from them. What does Davey think there is to negotiate anyway? Men are either in or out of girls private spaces. There's no halfway option.

MorrisZapp · 17/09/2021 08:31

Ed Davy can speak shite until forever, the Lib Dems said goodbye to all hope and credibility with the loss of Charles Kennedy.

I'd love it if we could stop accusing idiots of being white, as if it's one more reason they're an arsehole. It's a mutable skin colour, not a character trait.

endofthelinefinally · 17/09/2021 08:31

He did a MN Q and A a couple of years ago and made his views very clear. He cares nothing for women's sex based rights, so today's interview just confirms that.

MorrisZapp · 17/09/2021 08:32

Or do I mean immutable. Which is which? 😂

Jaysmith71 · 17/09/2021 08:33

If it's not Tim Farron saying gays are going to burn in hell, it's this.

You'd think there was a (safe) space somewhere between for the LDs, but seems not.

Hold your breath and dream of Daisy Cooper.

MorrisZapp · 17/09/2021 08:33

Is he the leader?

Jaysmith71 · 17/09/2021 08:34

....He IS the leader.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 17/09/2021 08:34

Worryingly Morris he is!

1Endeavour2 · 17/09/2021 08:35

Having just listened to the LBC interview with Davey, it's clear that he believes that his views are simply superior to those of women. He even had to listen 'with patience'. Condescending, arrogant male pr**K....!!!!!

MTCoffeePot · 17/09/2021 08:36

Davey mentioned something about a need for national discussion ... but couldn’t bring himself to say the word ‘women’. Agree that the item on violence against women at around 8.15 is really disturbing contrast.

Jaysmith71 · 17/09/2021 08:37

....To be fair, after Swinson (cough) it was either him or Moran, condescending arrongant female etc...

donquixotedelamancha · 17/09/2021 08:38

I’m thinking about my you young daughter and how a senior politician believes she should never be able to go anywhere that a biological male can’t follow.

Who is the senior politician, the thread only mentions Ed Davy?

Amazing that the BBC actually didn't censor this out.

The today program has been vociforous in pursuing this issue. It's not that 'the BBC' censor anything, it's that some sections see it as an important story and some want to push the 'be knid, nothing to see' line.

If you comapre the output of Justin Webb to Ben Hunte it's like one works for the old BBC and one works for Pink News.

NashvilleQueen · 17/09/2021 08:38

The only positive is that I do feel Justin Webb is an ally on this topic.

1Endeavour2 · 17/09/2021 08:40

Also, he tends to piggyback trans rights with racial issues. Rarely mentions trans rights alone. It's psychological manipulation. Who, after all, could deny the discrimination many minority race groups experience?

MarshaBradyo · 17/09/2021 08:40

That is awful to hear

KohlaParasanda · 17/09/2021 08:40

Oh, right. We know what the Lib Dems stand for now. I was never quite sure before.

donquixotedelamancha · 17/09/2021 08:41

If it's not Tim Farron saying gays are going to burn in hell, it's this.

Tim Farron didn't say that. He's supported gay rights for decades. The woke lot that ousted him for being Christian are the same ones who put Swinson in and backed Moran.

I doubt Ed Davy really believes any of this crap but he wants to be leader and wants to unite the party so he has no choice but to toe their line. In many ways that's worse than if he were just an imbicile.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 17/09/2021 08:42

@Jaysmith71

....To be fair, after Swinson (cough) it was either him or Moran, condescending arrongant female etc...
Swinson that was it….of course

Do you need something for that cough 😀

I’ll have forgotten her name again in a minute…

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 17/09/2021 08:42

Does he think biological women should be allowed to be members of Gentleman's Clubs and inherit titles in front of their brothers?
I have a feeling the answer would be no...

merrymouse · 17/09/2021 08:43

"So there should not be spaces where biological males cannot go?"

"No, precisely"

At least he has made his position clear.

MorrisZapp · 17/09/2021 08:43

Jfc. He's the leader? How utterly dispiriting. If Charles Kennedy was still around and took this heart sinking route I'd pack a sad little suitcase and go to live on an island.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/09/2021 08:44

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

Does he think biological women should be allowed to be members of Gentleman's Clubs and inherit titles in front of their brothers? I have a feeling the answer would be no...
He might not care about that either, probably doesn't affect him either way.

2020 Interview for LBC

Iain Dale "What do you think of J.K. Rowling's position on transwomen?"

Ed Davey "I don't agree with it."

ID "Why?"

ED "Because I think transwomen are women and transmen are men."

ID "Do you think that transwomen who haven't undergone surgery should be allowed in women's toilets for example?"

ED "yes"

ID "Pre-op transwomen in women's prison?"

ED "yeh, because I think some of the arguments that are put against this just don't understand the facts and experience. You know, transpeople are some of the most discriminated against in our society. They suffer violence. They suffer harassment."
