Quite jarring to hear him say it out loud but yes, this white man has stated love on the radio that there should be no spaces where biological males can’t go.
Just before 8am.

How are these men allowed to go on tv and spout all these statistics that are completely untrue? Just listened to Sadiq Khan on Andrew Marr, completely unchallenged. Ed Davey repeating soundbites that have no basis in reality. I hope Andrew Marr goes away and does some fact checking.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/09/2021 09:49

Am still watching. The one in 4 trans teen suicide attempt.

Earlier on this in the programme AM interviewed Alison Phillips from the Mirror, who was discussing an article from the Sunday Times. Rosie Duffield is not going to the labour conference due to death threats. She said ‘safeguarding piece’ challenged Kier Starmer to address the lack of free speech.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 19/09/2021 10:04

Thanks, Old Crone

Also, quelle surprise.

Artichokeleaves · 19/09/2021 10:43

what value 30 pieces of silver has

The painful truth of it.

Will he now have the guts to stand behind his statement that the Lib Dems don't believe female humans should ever be allowed to be without male supervision?

1Endeavour2 · 19/09/2021 11:50

Yes, Lib dems have been taking money from trans pressure interests for quite a while.
Seems to me the ONLY reason that someone purportedly same could say such ridiculous things is if he is being paid to do so. So now I will think of him as Ed 'thirty pieces of silver' Davy. Shame on him.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 19/09/2021 13:24

Wha'ts that, Artichoke?

"his statement that the Lib Dems don't believe female humans should ever be allowed to be without male supervision?"

Like the Taliban?

Artichokeleaves · 19/09/2021 13:34

I don't see how he can justifiably argue otherwise.

What other measures of dominance and superiority does he feel British males should have over females, who he clearly views as a subordinate class?

DdraigGoch · 19/09/2021 16:44

@TonyThreePies

Ed Davey is my local MP. We've had conversations about this before and he's set in stone. Is there anything I can do to help him see the other side of the debate? I've been shot down in flames so far.
Get a group together, follow him into the gents and come up with a really distracting topic to discuss among yourselves (so that he can hear). Something to really put him off. If challenged, say that you all identify as men and call him a transphobic bigot.
Artichokeleaves · 19/09/2021 17:06

Perhaps point out to him that no one ever asks what is the definition of 'man' and what does that say about who's identity and rights are seen as negotiable, who gets to do the decision making, and whose identities and rights are seen as so fixed that they're not up for debate?

At this point the sexism is so massive we're all having problems peering around it.

DdraigGoch · 19/09/2021 17:26

This comment on Facebook did amuse me.

Just heard that when giving a sentence judges will be given the option of either a handing down a prison term or sentencing someone to be leader of the Lib Dems

Vulval dermatitis on the end of my massive prolapse would be a good one. Sometimes stuff comes out of it.

FortunesFavour · 19/09/2021 17:58

Haven’t rtft I’m afraid so apologies if I’m repeating pps….
I’m delighted that the odious Mr Davey was forced to show his true colours, and prime time on Today no less. Ha! Sunshine galore which we so desperately need.

I particularly like that he was pressed about biological men accessing female spaces. This is the killer point that I don’t think many of the public understand…they often think TRAs are fighting for access post op, whereas we know differently - deliberate sleight of hand no doubt. The more people who understand this point the better….I’ve shocked a few friends by explaining about lady penises, wi Spa etc and they reconsidered their stance as a result.

Also the comments in the Times this weekend, and on BBC politics today are excellent, the tide is definitely turning in the U.K. at least (wee Jimmy Krankee notwithstanding). Brilliant…the strategy of stealth and no debate has failed, and now that it’s getting into the mainstream media concern is growing fast because people are starting to understand this grubby little game. Hooray for the women who won’t wheesht!

FortunesFavour · 19/09/2021 18:13

Also three cheers for Sir Lindsay H, although disgusting that KS hasn’t intervened to protect Rosie Duffield. It’s not so much Labour losing women now as Labour have lost them. It’s going to take a fierce reckoning tackling Labour’s alarming misogyny to ever get us back. KS just doesn’t have the stomach for it….so they’re no longer an effective Opposition because they’ll never see power. Absolute shambles.

And make nasty comments about his appearance, penis, tell to smile & cheer up, grab his arse, call him frigid for not showing you his cock.

donquixotedelamancha · 19/09/2021 18:31

So now I will think of him as Ed 'thirty pieces of silver' Davy.

If that's the price of Ed Davy's integrity someone has overpaid.

I have a feeling thats a nickname that might stick on MN
NiceGerbil · 19/09/2021 19:28

Just thinking.

Are the libdems attempting to shift things further?

If the transcripts of the two shows are correct he has twice said that biological men should have the right to access things for women. Prison sport etc etc etc.

Not transwomen. Or even trans women and non binary people.

Biological men in BOTH interviews.

I don't think this might be an error misphrasing etc.

Anyone else notice that?

I just think hes a fuckwit tripping over his own words to try and prove he's 'not transphobic'. Wait until election debates. He will fall flat on his arse. Tories will be prepared to pick up on it, because he will trip on this word salad nonsense because it makes no fucking sense.
Feelingoktoday · 19/09/2021 19:48

Yes. Men.

PronounssheRa · 19/09/2021 20:02

Do you think MPs ever watch back or read back what they have said and think, 'fuck I made a bit of a dick of myself there'

donquixotedelamancha · 19/09/2021 20:17

Well it will be nice to have a way of remembering who Ed Davy is.

MrsSkylerWhite · 19/09/2021 20:57

Very interesting conversation with our 18 year old son today. We discussed this question and he was very sure of his argument whilst we were using the terms man and woman.

He firmly believed that trans women should be afforded every right that women born as women are afforded.

When I changed direction and asked him how that played out in terms of male versus female, he was a bit quite so certain.

He is a very young person doing, I believe, his very best to accommodate the sensibilities of all.

What would your advice to him be? (He is very open to informed advice).

MrsSkylerWhite · 19/09/2021 20:57

(Not quite so certain)

Feelingoktoday · 19/09/2021 21:03

I would ask him how he would feel if :-
When you are an elderly woman and need intimate care and ask for female carers and a Trans woman turns up and you have no say as gender is now a protected characteristic and not sex;
His daughter plays football and the girls team starts recruiting trans girls as they are stronger. His daughter loses her place.

We can still be kind but you can’t change sex and women should not lose their protected characteristic for men.
