Just saw this. This will be happening in Scotland soon. I asked my gym, Nuffield, to confirm if the female open plan changing facilities would be open to males who say they identified as women, and they said they would decide on a case by case basis. So, yes

they said they would decide on a case by case basis.

My understanding is that, in law, "case by case" doesn't necessarily mean what it does in everyday speech.

Case by case can cover an entire class - it's not always proportionate to make a determination on individuals. I'd like to see Nuffield lay out their procedure for making their case by case decision.

I think it's a customer complaining but my god she's impressive. She's assertive, civil, very clear about the nature of the problem and she's not backing down.

Thanks for posting, OP. The woman behind the desk was not standing up for women, I don’t think. It was hard to hear her, but I think she says it’s the law. The woman objecting is a paying customer. I guess some of the other women standing around might also be customers who felt equally uncomfortable.

We need to all object as loudly and confidently as that woman. Even if the law is against us, the law is wrong and we need to make a fuss. These men have demanded entry with loud voices in public and extensive lobbying in private and that’s why they’re there. Now we need to say loud and clear that this is wholly unacceptable and that we will not go away and be quiet.

Good for that woman. Again, it's a WOC standing up for the others. It looked like the women and girls had walked out of the changing rooms. The woman who was asking for her money back looked visibly shaken.

I thought the youngster on the desk was male, but I could have been wrong. The customer is a force of nature! 'Give her her money back!' she says as another woman goes to the other staff member behind hte desk. Interesting to see the young man patronisingly explaining to her that the naked person isn't a man, he's transgender. She's having none of it, and good for her! How dare these men tell us what we must and mustn't do in our own designated spaces. Why aren't they applying all that energy on telling other men to be more accepting so transwomen feel safe in men's spaces?
