GC Christmas shopping

I know it’s not even November yet but I’m starting to write Christmas lists early thanks to anticipation of COVID-chaos. I would love to support as many brave feminists as possible with my purchasing power.
So far I have:
The Ickabog/ Strike books by J.K. Rowling
Difficult Women by Helen Lewis
Embroidery patches by Jess de Wahls
Any more suggestions for Christmas gifts that will support the fearless women (or men) who’ve stuck their heads above the parapet?

Does Dame Jenni Murray have a book out or due out? I do hope so.
needanewidea · 24/10/2020 14:07
Ooh, great thread!
I'm going to get Jane Clare Jones's The Radical Notion for my feminist friends and possibly a subscription for my mum (my original feminist mentor!)
theradicalnotion.org/subscriptions
also...

needanewidea · 24/10/2020 14:10
... also some of Angela Wild's brilliant designs. (As made popular by JK Rowling!)

Also my daughter (7) has these "Wonder Women" cards and loves them. Like happy families but all accomplished women - scientists, artists, activists, explorers aeronauts etc. I highly recommend them!

I'm getting the 'floweries' postcards from Jess Dewahls as they donate a fiver to FPFW
www.jessdewahls.com/products
Also Standing for Women is considering a Christmas jumper and they have cool pens that identify as a sword or a quill 😆
needanewidea · 24/10/2020 14:23
Oh yes, didn't FPFW have merch before. I wonder if they still do it?
needanewidea · 24/10/2020 14:24
ReSisters have a shop selling t-shirts etc.

The Famous Artist Birdy Rose has a 2021 calendar.
Thehollyandtheirony · 24/10/2020 14:51
Thanks for all the wonderful ideas, keep them coming please.
I’ve also found that Rachel Rooney has a book of children’s poetry published called My Life as a Goldfish. We already have her book My Body is Me, bought from Transgender Trend a while back.
I might buy a Melissa Harrison book for someone.
needanewidea · 24/10/2020 15:26
Oh, that reminds me! We have Rachel Rooney's A Kid in My Class, which is great.

" Invisible Women" by Caroline Criado Perez

(She does a great witch’s hat too).

Ooooh! This is a fun thread!
For anyone looking for "My Body is Me" you can get it here:
www.transgendertrend.com/shop/
Book-wise I'd also recommend anything from the excellent feminist publishers Spinifex Press. Dr Heather Brunskell-Evans has her new one out with them:

Redshoeblueshoe · 24/10/2020 17:27
Those cards look great
HecatesCats · 24/10/2020 17:28
These look great Need, thanks. Excellent thread OP. I've already bought wildwomyn witchy badges and am planning to get some posters/mugs for my feminist friends (and a couple who haven't realised it yet ).
witchesaremysisters · 24/10/2020 17:28
And Angela C Wild includes quite a few lovely links to more shops in her blogpost about supporting women-owned businesses:

I bought the new illustrated hardback edition of Harry Potter based on a JKR thread on this board. It's beautiful!

Scout2016 · 24/10/2020 17:48
Not sure if it counts but this book was published from crowdfunding

And this company do suffergette / literary women etc items.

For those who have everything Lendwithcare vouchers start at £15 and it's sort of micro crowd funding people in other countries to get their business going / bigger. If you get repayments you can either reinvest or tale the money out. I'm choosing to only support women.
Sunscreeneveryday · 24/10/2020 18:20
Home Grown: How Domestic Violence Turns Men into Terrorists by Joan Smith, one of the best books I've read in years.
KimThomas · 24/10/2020 18:26
I’d also suggest books by Jane Harris, recently banned from Twitter for the crime of thinking while female.
Scout2016 · 24/10/2020 18:36
@OhHolyJesus Standing For Women have this jumper. It says "identifies as a Christmas Jumper." And there's a "identifies as a Christmas Card" card too.

Thanks @Scout2016
