I know it’s not even November yet but I’m starting to write Christmas lists early thanks to anticipation of COVID-chaos. I would love to support as many brave feminists as possible with my purchasing power.

So far I have:
The Ickabog/ Strike books by J.K. Rowling
Difficult Women by Helen Lewis
Embroidery patches by Jess de Wahls

Any more suggestions for Christmas gifts that will support the fearless women (or men) who’ve stuck their heads above the parapet?

That "Cats Against the Patriarchy" tee shirt is excellent.

Jenny Lindsay's and/or Magi Gibson's poetry.

I have the radical feminist journal and a notebook from this site too for Xmas presents. Jaimi Shrive is the partner of Jessica Taylor who does all the work against victim blaming and poor practice with victims of CSE

In fact there is also Jessica's book and she has some merch on her site too

Great thread thank you! Have ordered the Wonder Women cards for DD and put some of the Resistas merch on my list.

For younger girls (or indeed boys)

The 'Great Women who Changed' series by Kate Pankhurst. Includes women who had to dress as men to get what they want.

SmallPug · 25/10/2020 10:07

Yes both Rebel Girls and boys books have trans kids in them. I was APPALLED at this normalising of children abuse.

It really sticks out. It's a book celebrating the achievements of remarkable women and then there's a page about a child who has been transitioned which starts: 'Coy loved dresses, the colour pink, and shiny shoes'. Wtaf. It's so regressive.
MsMarvellous · 25/10/2020 12:48

@HecatesCats my daughter and I discussed this as we have the book. We agreed that while we were very happy that he should be able to be who he wants to be, he shouldn't have taken a place in a book about women and girls!

MsMarvellous · 25/10/2020 12:48

Great thread everyone. Bookmarked for reference! Thanks.

That's lovely 😍

TheChampagneGalop · 25/10/2020 13:19

Oooh, I must buy the suffragette scarf! Subtle t-shirts like TeenPlusTwenties was looking for would be great too.

TeenPlusTwenties · 25/10/2020 13:27

The scarf is nice, but I don't wear scarves so not for me.

Scout2016 · 25/10/2020 13:46

@TeenPlusTwenties not sure if this is allowed but if you wanted to get one made there is a company called Tub's Togs which does ace kids clothes and some women's items. I've had a lot of tops from there for me, just pick the fabric and what neckline style, sleeve length, colour trims and so on. It's all made by a WAHM who is great to deal with. I know etsy isn't in the good books but here's her page. She has a FB one too but think she finds messenger unreliable.

Thanks Scout I'll check it out.

We have some badges if anyone wants a Scottish themed gift. Expensive times for us with the judicial review, so everything helps.

Another vote for Lissa Evans - she's a fab writer. Also used to be a producer on Father Ted, so all-round good egg.

On which note, the Father Ted scripts (published 21 years ago) are an excellent read:

@TeenPlusTwenties
you'll see she specialises in illustrated fabrics but if you message her about what you have in mind sure she'll help. I think purple body and one green one white sleeve would look funky. Or purple body, long white sleeves and green applique pocket. Might look a bit like a jockey though.
