I know it’s not even November yet but I’m starting to write Christmas lists early thanks to anticipation of COVID-chaos. I would love to support as many brave feminists as possible with my purchasing power.

So far I have:
The Ickabog/ Strike books by J.K. Rowling
Difficult Women by Helen Lewis
Embroidery patches by Jess de Wahls

Any more suggestions for Christmas gifts that will support the fearless women (or men) who’ve stuck their heads above the parapet?

Thank you for the reminder I think DD1 would love Gillian Phillip's books.
(& I was amused to see that the "others looked at these authors" list on Amazon was Galbraith, Shrier, Nobre , JKR)

The suffragette pins from For Women Scotland are really lovely here

Jessica Taylor/Victimfocus have some good stuff.

There's a sweary colouring book for adults: victimfocus-resources.com/collections/frontpage/products/end-victim-blaming-the-adult-colouring-book

And reflective journals, if you know anyone in women's services or social work or that kind of field, there's one for them victimfocus-resources.com/collections/reflective-journals/products/the-reflective-journal-for-practitioners-working-in-abuse-and-trauma

Or if you know anyone who's studying or doing research, there's a reflective journal for academics: victimfocus-resources.com/collections/reflective-journals/products/the-reflective-journal-for-researchers-and-academics

I’d also forgotten ‘Hey Girl’ which my niece will love. I want to get My Body is Me for my sisters grandchild - but niece is a bit wokey-bo-Bokey and I don’t want to cause an international incident... (will it?)

[quote needanewidea]Also my daughter (7) has these "Wonder Women" cards and loves them. Like happy families but all accomplished women - scientists, artists, activists, explorers aeronauts etc. I highly recommend them!

Brilliant!! Will be getting these for my nieces and nephews! Thanks

No no nopety no. Oxfam have pulled it for ‘usual reasons’ . Oxfam are problematic anyway.

onlysomany · 24/10/2021 12:45

FFS Oxfam! www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10123867/Oxfam-drops-Wonder-Women-bingo-game-celebrating-inspiration-woman-including-JK-Rowling.html

I've already got the Wonder Woman cards, they're great! But I'll be buying a few more packs this Christmas for other kids to stick two fingers up at Oxfam. Fucking idiots.

@mum2jakie

I bought the new illustrated hardback edition of Harry Potter based on a JKR thread on this board. It's beautiful!
The second volume of that series 'Chamber of secrets' is also available for pre-order now on Amazon. They are beautiful versions. I think I am buying them for non-existent grandchildren lol.
CruellaDeVilla · 25/10/2021 16:17

Oh thank you for this thread, I’m refusing to shop at John Lewis or M&S this year, I’ll spend everything with organisations who support women instead

I've scanned the thread and haven't seen this mentioned yet, but sorry if I've missed it..

www.scarfmonkey.com/

Does some great t-shirts for mighty girls. I had to stop looking as my basket was getting very expensive 😄

KittenKong · 25/10/2021 18:57

Oh you... you... I love that scarf monkey ! What’s the quality like?

lurking · 25/10/2021 19:27

I haven't bought from them before sorry but I've heard good things. My shop should arrive very soon though so I can update then!

KittenKong · 25/10/2021 19:39

Cool - the stuff looks really good. Shame some isn’t adult sized though.

CakeMonster100 · 25/10/2021 20:52

I've had kids t shirts and jumpers amd adult jumpers from scarf monkey and they're really fab. Although do size up for the kids tshirts if you wash like me and shrink things... the jumpers have lasted really well though without shrinking and are still very soft and comfortable 18 months on. Although they don't display all options I think there's a 'choice' option for adults where you can choose which design you'd like printed.

If no one minds I'm going to copy relevant info over to Twitter, as well as a link to this thread, so we can maximise views. Happy shopping everyone Smile

KittenKong · 31/10/2021 12:07

Hello... I spotted you earlier (not stalking, honest).

DinosaursInPetticoats · 31/10/2021 13:27

I sell feminist t-shirts on Amazon and occasionally Redbubble and Etsy. Just want to say thank you to anyone who has bought them and left 5* reviews. I think I saw that recommended on one of our feminist action threads. It especially brings me joy when I see that someone has purchased two in completely different sizes. One for themselves, and one for a daughter, maybe?

On another note I have a male relative that gets the hump that the POD and dropshipping methods I use means I am earning pennies money in my sleep when I should be keeping myself busy being up till 1am ironing designs onto t-shirts and spending my weekends selling them at markets. Hmm

Off to search Creative Fabrica for uterus designs now. Grin

This is a really helpful thread !

TedImgoingmad · 03/11/2021 00:58

For Glinner fans, the 3 Count Arthur Strong series are all available on DVD, and very funny.

You can find lots of replica - and the occasional real - suffragette jewellery in deco/nouveau styles on eBay, plus replica pins for stocking fillers.

Posie is selling Christmas jumpers.

NotLikeJane · 04/11/2021 14:12

Someone mentioned Emma Bridgewater's mugs earlier in the thread. I just saw an ad for a new 'strong women' one which might make a nice present: www.emmabridgewater.co.uk/products/purple-toast-strong-women-12-pint-mug

MedusasButterDish · 16/11/2021 11:05

Re writers: openly GC writer Simon Edge (The End of the World is Flat) is one of the Lightning Books authors able to sign and dedicate any books ordered through the publisher's website:

www.eye-books.com/post/let-our-authors-sign-and-send-your-christmas-gifts

I've enjoyed both his supposed roman à clef The End of the World is Flat (about you-know-what), and A Right Royal Face-Off (completely unrelated to you-know-what Grin).

I've also had three books of poetry from Rachel Rooney, who is lovely.
