This is a harrowing read.
I feel immensely sorry for the child that was. However I feel more frightened for the women and children G might be incarcerated with.

Thanks XXsex
Do you mind me asking what safeguarding issue you raised. I want to have my facts right if I need to contact the school.

Mine are the non talking kind too.

The fact that BeLonGTo were saying that in order to support trans students they should, on overnight trips, stay in bedrooms with members of the opposite sex (they worded it as stay with the gender they identify with - or similar).

I personally think that as a parent I would have a problem with 14-15-16-17-18 year olds sharing bedrooms. And I would hope that a school would too.

Thanks XXsex. I will check it out.

NWCI (National Women's Council) have sent out a newsletter today in support of BelongTo and TENI.

FFS.

XXSex · 18/11/2020 17:07

Of course they have. Institutional capture. I believe that a transwoman was elected to the board of NCWI this week.

@Weatherwarning actually all of the elements in the thread here are contained in the BeLonGTo pages

here:

ï‚· Promising confidentiality to a child
ï‚· Parental Alienation
ï‚· Promoting use of off label drugs and minimising harms
ï‚· Erosion of sexual boundaries

Completely OT, wasn't sure this warranted a seperate thread but thought other Irish women might want to know

www.thesun.ie/news/6162223/penneys-introduce-gender-neutral-fitting-rooms-irish-shops/
Penneys are introducing gender neutral fitting rooms in some branches.

Wouldn't mind if they were fully enclosed but in my local one its a thin curtain that never seems to go the full way

SecondRow · 18/11/2020 20:38

My local Penney's when I was growing up had a communal women's changing room. Pretty bizarre to think of now. The flappy curtains aren't much better...

Interesting the Sun draws the connection to Travis Alabanza's Topshop tantrum - that's cast a long shadow as Penneys obviously just don't want the hassle.

SecondRow · 18/11/2020 20:54

NWCI were also tweeting about quotas - presumably for women - on corporate boards, the day after appointing a male person to their board.

I saw that in my inbox today @notyourhandmaid. I have unsubscribed from their newsletter. I wonder how many others will do the same?

Barmbraic · 18/11/2020 23:16

Irish Girl Guides retweeted NWCI today. I know they've been captured too but it makes me so sad. I was really encouraging dd to go back to guides this year, she was less interested but she goes to a mixed school so I'd like her to have one all girl space. And I'm a brownies leader with a very vulnerable girl who has mentioned in the past that she's "really a boy". She's 8 ffs. The IGG guidance is to ask her to leave. It makes me want to cry.

XXSex · 19/11/2020 11:49

The IGG guidance then wouldn’t be following the exemptions under the equal status act. Unless she has a GRC then she is entitled to stay.

OP posts:
XXSex · 19/11/2020 11:54

FFS gender isn’t listed in their Equality policy. That’s a joke!!

OP posts:
Cailleach1 · 20/11/2020 07:39

Under the exemptions, would a female not be entitled to stay even if they have a GRC?

The legislation is a load of bolleaux, isn't it? Sex not even protected. No concern about safeguarding, even after all the abuses of the past. The same shower who are on a bandwagon condemning the abuses when they were committed by others in the past, are now basically supporting the creation of situations where abuse can happen more easily in the future.

XXSex · 20/11/2020 10:46

My understanding is that if you have a GRC as a born female then you are not seen as a male. Therefore you are not entitled to exemptions on the ground of female gender under the Equal Status Act.

The IGG allows anyone who lives their life as a female to join them Hmm. Males can also volunteer.

It basically means that anyone, even if they don’t have a GRC, who “fells like a woman/wears a dress/puts on lipstick/whatever the fuck is living like a woman“ can become a leader or join as a junior.

That thread is on fire!!!

I see Colm OGorman is getting his ass handed to him for asking for political and news outlets not to give a voice to women.

How is this happening in 2020?

OP posts:
7Days · 21/11/2020 11:50

That is shocking.

Weatherwarning · 21/11/2020 12:18

Colm O Gorman and the board of the NWCI need to step down from their positions for signing that. It is undemocratic, intolerant and seeks to silence any dissenting voices in Ireland. Any political party that does not condemn this is complicit by their silence.

littlbrowndog · 21/11/2020 13:49

I like this pic.

3timeslucky · 21/11/2020 14:05

I saw that on Twitter last night and re-read it several times to be sure I understood that Amnesty (and the NWCI) were asking for people who hold different viewpoints to be denied political representation. I thought I was past the point of being shocked.

peanut2017 · 21/11/2020 14:15

What a contradiction in terms - Amnesty who are supposedly an organisation fighting for human rights decide they don't care about the human rights of 50% of the population. Disgusting. Colm O'Gorman can go down a drain pipe and never come out

Weatherwarning · 21/11/2020 14:34

They appear to also be advocating for censorship of GC views by the Irish media. GC women are not far right bigots. We are ordinary women, mothers and tax payers who have legitimate rights and concerns, these attempts to silence us are chilling. Amnesty have lost their way. As for the NCWI Biscuit
