Sorry for the post and run as O have got to go to bed. I don't have the full story either

@ItsLateHumpty

We Are Fair Cop are all over this.

“ Good news! You will no longer be sacked for believing sex exists!
You won’t get a job at all.
British police forces not welcoming 'gender critical' job applications' | via
@ telegraph”

Responses are heartening.

This situation is absolutely abysmal though.

”Our objective as a police force is to always ensure our officers and staff continue to police in a way that builds trust and confidence by providing a service that is inclusive and unbiased for all.”

Unless you don’t believe in gender. Then we’ll be as biased and as exclusionary as possible. You can trust us on that.

@HazzaTheOwl

Hey Harry - just in case you haven’t seen this MN thread.

Thanks for everything you’re all doing at Fair Cop. If we can help, please let us know.

madcatladyforever · 16/08/2020 15:56

And there was me thinking the police were there to enforce law and order but apparently I was wrong, they are the snowflake thought police.
I'll bet most of the current police force think its all a load of old crap.

HazzaTheOwl · 16/08/2020 16:02

This story is from our upcoming Policing Through The Looking Glass report... unbelievably shocking, sinister and absurd. But I’m glad we were able to expose it.

ItsLateHumpty · 16/08/2020 16:41

Cheers Harry. The apparent totalitarian goose step in the transgender movement is awful.

I don’t live in the UK now but I’d be apprehensive to come back and visit family in case my SM is trawled or is already monitored and reported for wrong think and I end up being invited for an interview.

I’d never have the fortitude of you, Glinner, Maya, Sarah Phillimore, etc

Big up to you all 🍺

“I must point out that I am gender critical, which means that whilst I am firmly against abuse and discrimination to trans people, I do not believe you can change your biological sex,” she wrote.

Just change a few words in that statement

“I must point out that I am a white supremecist, which means that whilst I am firmly against abuse and discrimination of black people, I do believe that white people are superior,” she wrote.

You see the police see the bigotry behind the rhetoric.

attackedbycritters · 16/08/2020 17:05

Superior...a subjective judgement based on an arbitrary selection of criteria
Sex...biology, as fundamental as atoms

thehumanformerlyknownasfemale · 16/08/2020 17:08

Bigot means fuck all these days.

You can't change your biological sex-that's a simple, straightforward fact of life. Always will be. Not bigoted, just nature. Plenty of trans people (not the raging, woman hating TRAs on Twatter) agree with this themselves. Are they bigoted?

attackedbycritters · 16/08/2020 17:09

I must point out that I am transsupporting, which means that whilst I support rights for women I do not believe that their sex has any relevance to their lives

DianasLasso · 16/08/2020 17:11

Hang on - are you suggesting "people can't change sex" (a statement of biological fact) is directly equivalent to "white people are superior" (a racist-as-fuck opinion)?

That is a truly bonkers gloss to put on this, and also the constant appropriation of the anti-racism struggle for civil rights is in itself bloody offensive.

By all means believe in "internal gender identity" - it's a free country. Some people believe in god, eternal souls and young-earth creationism. And (provided those beliefs don't make it impossible to do their job - e.g. employment as a biology teacher), it doesn't really matter 99% of the time. But don't expect other people to go along with those nutty beliefs, or re-write science ("sex is a spectrum"; "there's no such thing as evolution") because of your own ideology.

TBHno · 16/08/2020 17:11

Fine.

But can the police please present the evidence that proves that humans CAN change sex?

I'll wait Smile

OvaHere · 16/08/2020 17:16

@attackedbycritters

I must point out that I am transsupporting, which means that whilst I support rights for women I do not believe that their sex has any relevance to their lives
So on what basis do you think women won rights then if it wasn't sex? Our sex is of fundamental importance in shaping our lives. It's not the only thing but in countries where women still do not have full human rights it has everything to do with our biological sex.
ItsLateHumpty · 16/08/2020 17:16

*... whilst I support rights for women I do not believe that their sex has any relevance to their lives.”

Try explaining that to victims of FMG. I would ask that you explain that to victims of femicide but they’re (in their millions) dead, so what do they matter. Or maybe the aborted female babies. Oh right. They’re dead too. Voices silenced so they do not matter.

cheeseismydownfall · 16/08/2020 17:18

“I must point out that I am atheist, which means that whilst I am firmly against abuse and discrimination to people of faith, I do not believe in God."

attackedbycritters · 16/08/2020 17:22

Sorry, I was not clear. I was trying to demonstrate to gotalife how ridiculous their rewording " proof of transphobia through analogy efforts were.

Yes if you change words, you change the meaning. We can all play that game. My version just highlighting the misogyny ..at least that was clear !

Floisme · 16/08/2020 17:22

I must point out that, if you change a few words in just about any statement, you are likely to end up with .... a completely different statement.

HazzaTheOwl · 16/08/2020 17:23

Fair Cop cops are bloody fantastic. I’m as delighted with this sting as I am dismayed by the state of our police. Thank you, Mumsnet, for your continued interest and support. Some of us are some of you.. and we appreciate it.

cheeseismydownfall · 16/08/2020 17:23

And even the obviously ridiculous atheist vs faith example isn't as bad as what actually happened, given that the existence of God is accepted to be a belief rather than a simple scientific truth.

Gottalife · 16/08/2020 17:23

Get real. The police are not going to employ anyone who is potentially racist, homophobic, sexist, ageist or transphobic.

“I must point out that I am gender critical, which means that whilst I am firmly against abuse and discrimination to trans people, I do not believe you can change your biological sex,”
Is a red flag.

Floisme · 16/08/2020 17:24

I'm too slow today Grin

DianasLasso · 16/08/2020 17:24

@Floisme - Grin

DianasLasso · 16/08/2020 17:26

@Gottalife

Please educate me. Explain to me how one can change one's biological sex. I've been on MN a long time, I've seen this question asked a lot and I've never seen an answer. But you appear to be the poster who has the answer, so please share it with me.

DialSquare · 16/08/2020 17:26

@Floisme

I'm too slow today Grin
It was worth waiting for!
cheeseismydownfall · 16/08/2020 17:26

Gottalife

I am gender critical.

I am not transphobic and I fully support the right of trans people as enshrined in law.

The two are not mutually exclusive, despite what TRAs would like people to believe.

attackedbycritters · 16/08/2020 17:27

You are saying that acknowledging the existence of sex is fundamentally transphobic?

Tell it to the birds and the bees

nicky7654 · 16/08/2020 17:27

Good!
