I hope you are right midgebabe.

There's more. So they sack the one person who knows that the police should be impartial? Unbelievable. We are Fair Cop have tweeted about this.

The chair of a policing watchdog has been sacked after publicly questioning whether a senior officer should be wearing an LGBT rainbow lanyard.
Bob Fousert was forced to step down as chairman of Cheshire police and crime panel by seven votes to five with one abstention.

The panel’s role is to hold elected Labour police and crime commissioner (PCC) David Keane to account.

Apparently at a panel meeting he questioned Keane about the deputy chief constable wearing a rainbow lanyard whilst in uniform at a meeting.

Mr Fousert said: “Do you consider such an overt, political statement to be appropriate for a senior officer to wear given the police should be seen to be impartial in all it does and what message do you think this sends to officers and staff in terms of integrity, leadership and objectivity as espoused by the constabulary’s code of ethics?”

Wow. That is disgusting. His question was powerful. I wonder if it would have been more acceptable to snowflake thinking had he worded it more diplomatically. Unlikely. Not so much a thin, blue line anymore - a rainbow coloured one perhaps?

I think that deserves its own thread.

Cancel culture in action again. It is shocking that Mr. Fousert has been removed from his position in response to his incisive, pertinent question. It is also sadly unsurprising. The police should not be broadcasting partisan political support for any party or lobby group, for obvious reasons. They should be impartially and consistently investigating and arresting criminals. They have become a seriously unfunny joke in the UK.

Floisme · 18/08/2020 08:15

I agree that needs a separate thread.

I'm still open mouthed at the police rejecting applications from people who believe in maintaining the current law. It absolutely buggers belief.

Floisme · 18/08/2020 08:16

Excuse my potty mouth. Beggars belief.

SheWhoMustNotBeHeard · 18/08/2020 08:18

I'll start a new thread for this.

This!

If officers were allowed to wear rainbow lanyards then why not badges belonging to other organisations that helped address issues facing the police, he asked.

“Should we ignore Women’s Aid. Cheshire has a domestic abuse problem and the constabulary’s record on solving rape cases appears to be sinking without trace? Let us not forget Shelter - the homeless on the streets is an ever increasing problem.”

But I don’t understand this - homosexual is offensive? Confused

Cllr Thompson was also unhappy with Mr Fousert’s written reply to the PCC in which he referred to ‘homosexual relatives’ and the ‘homosexual community’.

He said by and large the term ‘homosexual’ was seen as offensive in the modern world.

And is he now comparing Bob Fousert (the guy who’s just been sacked) with Putin Shock

“In the last month only two people in some form of public office have gone about talking about gay people as homosexuals. One is the chair of the Cheshire police and crime panel and one is Vladimir Putin,” he added.

ItsLateHumpty · 18/08/2020 08:26

I will repost on the new thread - can you add the link here when it’s ready?

ItsLateHumpty · 18/08/2020 08:29

S’ok I stopped being lazy and found the new fred !

Siameasy · 18/08/2020 10:22

If homosexual is offensive a) what is the recommended term b) who says it’s offensive and c) are heterosexual and bisexual also offensive??
