Hi Horse I hadn't heard of it either, it was a and FB group page for female victims of rape and sexual assault. Now it's a page for anyone who says they are a woman who may have been sexually assaulted or who might be using it as a way to validate their identity.
I assume the tiny percentage of men who are raped would be going elsewhere anyway due to the fact that it was called "I believe her" and because men who are raped have different support needs than women, although all are victims of course.
Frothy can manage her page anyway she likes but I think it's a branding issue and I wouldn't want to be accused of false advertising on FB so it should be renamed. It's also just a page and not a rape crisis centre which thankfully exist (just) and real women continue to fight for those, the one in Canada especially considering the decade of abuse and threats of violence and intimidation women working there have suffered.
You have much support on your post already Frothy and I'm sure all concerns listed here will be deleted or dismissed and that tells us quite a lot about your particular brand of 'radical feminism'.
Your current supporters will be informed of your stance but I ask that newcomers have it explained to them, so they know what type of support they are getting and what they are exposing themselves to, being vulnerable and all I'm sure you will be kind to them and explain it to them. They can then go elsewhere, if they can find somewhere that's safe for them.
Maybe we need a new page "I believe women" and then we can keep it closed and only let women in?
