By 'it' I mean what @FrothyDragon and her little woke friends are dismissing as transphobia.

Could somebody please say briefly what "the page" is?

I've been here about a year and never heard it mentioned before.

Hi Horse I hadn't heard of it either, it was a and FB group page for female victims of rape and sexual assault. Now it's a page for anyone who says they are a woman who may have been sexually assaulted or who might be using it as a way to validate their identity.

I assume the tiny percentage of men who are raped would be going elsewhere anyway due to the fact that it was called "I believe her" and because men who are raped have different support needs than women, although all are victims of course.

Frothy can manage her page anyway she likes but I think it's a branding issue and I wouldn't want to be accused of false advertising on FB so it should be renamed. It's also just a page and not a rape crisis centre which thankfully exist (just) and real women continue to fight for those, the one in Canada especially considering the decade of abuse and threats of violence and intimidation women working there have suffered.

You have much support on your post already Frothy and I'm sure all concerns listed here will be deleted or dismissed and that tells us quite a lot about your particular brand of 'radical feminism'.

Your current supporters will be informed of your stance but I ask that newcomers have it explained to them, so they know what type of support they are getting and what they are exposing themselves to, being vulnerable and all I'm sure you will be kind to them and explain it to them. They can then go elsewhere, if they can find somewhere that's safe for them.

Maybe we need a new page "I believe women" and then we can keep it closed and only let women in?

We Believe You was a campaign that originated on Mumsnet from the FWR boards, which took the stance of believing women who had been the victims of men's sexual assaults and rapes. Believing women who have been raped and sexually assaulted by men is a sea change in the culture, which automatically blames women for the harm done to us by men, or labels us as liars.

There's info about the campaign here: www.mumsnet.com/campaigns/we-believe-you-mumsnet-rape-awareness-campaign

The I Believe Her webpage picked up the concept to support the woman in the Ched Evans case, which had also been much discussed here.

The Mumsnet campaign specifically mentions "women" whereas FrothyDragon has decided it's time to include everybody. Except nasty "TERFs" of course. Apparently they get banned.

"Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities". Voltaire.

I have never looked at the page, but I know the campaign.

Frothy is free to admin a page however she sees fit and I actually accept that the derailing of unrelated posts is something to warn against, as is actual transphobia but

I was originally a radical feminist, but I cannot stand by and watch transwomen be excluded from vital services

is adopting a position. And that position will not be palatable to feminists who centre women. Division of biological sex is always relevant to rape and it is imperative during recovery. If your service cannot do this, it is not safe.

Would FrothyDragon also be on the side of Kimberley Nixon who cost Vancouver Rape Relief tens of thousands of dollars because they didn't want Nixon as a rape counsellor? They saw the value of female only space for rape victims and it cost them dear.

Maybe she thinks it's OK for trans to have picketed the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival and shut it down after decades of running a women only music festival on women's land. One of the Michigan trans picketers went on to murder his two lesbian neighbours - the most marginalised I suppose.

There's a reason they came for the radical feminists first. There's a reason that the term of abuse for a "transphobe" is "TERF", rather than a name for the men who violently assault trans people. It's got nothing to do with being oppressed or marginalised.

So you don't believe her do you, Frothy? Because you don't listen to women, you blithely ignore and try to suppress what they are saying to you about their feelings on the matter.

Women know your place.

It’s funny.

Yesterday this was posted on I believe her. I took it to be a criticism/another example of how we’re never allowed to say men rape without someone coming along and saying “women rape too”. And then I saw the comments underneath it. Half of them are “yes women rape too” and I thought wtf. In light of frothys statement last night it has all become clear. This wasn’t a “oh here we go- another ‘women do it too’” comment. It was a “don’t forget- women rape too” post. By frothy. On a page for female rape victims. What. The. Actual. Fuck. Frothy you need to take a serious look at yourself and decide what you actually stand for.

Frothy, I know you’re a feminist. Some of your views on patriarchy and capitalism still make me think sometimes.

I know you put women first. I don’t doubt that for a second given your posting history but I struggle with the radfem view that accepts transwomen into the group “woman” and therefore into female spaces. I wholly accept that some transwomen need protection and access to services but why do they need access to female only services ?

Is it uniting against a common enemy or genuinely seeing them as part of the group that is woman ?
