Just seen this on Twitter.

twitter.com/ruth_hunt/status/1098604129394585601?s=21

I’d like to think her successor will be less homophobic. We shall see, although I’m not holding out much hope.

I wonder which transgender person will replace her?

Macareaux · 21/02/2019 16:26

It is inconceivable that her replacement will be someone who knows that TW are not W.

My money is on a TW.

AuntieCJ · 21/02/2019 16:26

Let's hope it's someone who wants to restore the "L" in LGBT.

Lol
People are really laying into her, with good reason.

This tweet and thread is excellent Grin

Ruth Hunt is leaving Stonewall

Lily...Aimee...Pips....get your applications in quick.

I wonder which part of the Stonewalls public/charity sector diaspora Hunt will end up in. Lottery, Girl Guides? I think she will go down in history as the person who failed the gay rights movement.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 21/02/2019 16:31

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Don't let the door hit your arse on your way out, Hunt.

And anyone who thinks that Stonewall will appoint anyone other than a transperson (preferably a transwoman) or gay male is much mistaken.

Whatisthisfuckery · 21/02/2019 16:33

Even if it is someone who understands biological reality, it’d take years to undo the damage done in the last few, and that would rely on somebody even trying. I will not forgive Ruth Hunt for what she has presided over. Young lesbians in particular have been harmed by Stonewall and its prioritising of bepenised women. There’s a special cozy spot in hell reserved for her.

As in any charity, the role of the Trustees of the charity is to direct the charity’s work (or should be). The staff, the executive and Director as their manager are there to efficiently carry out the Trustee’s direction.

It could be that Ruth Hunt as Chief Exec has held some magical sway over a particularly weak set of Trustees for years (seems unlikely if they objected to what she was doing all these years- you’d have seen trustees bowing out) or it could be that the Trustees have recently realised Stonewall’s PR has gone down the toilet and are scapegoating Ruth Hunt and hoping if she leaves they will get a clean slate to carry on. If the Trustees don’t change though, unlikely that as a charity Stonewall will change in any way whether Ruth Hunt personally goes or stays.

Whatisthisfuckery · 21/02/2019 16:35

I’ve written a particularly bracing (truthful) reply on that twitter thread. My phone is pleasantly pinging with likes. It’s very heartening.

Don't worry Auntie, it will be a lesbian transwoman.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/02/2019 16:38

The trustees have probably noticed Stonewall is losing credibility and are blaming her but the next person they appoint will continue the same policy. I don't expect them to improve.

RomanticFatigue · 21/02/2019 16:38

The comments though Shock

OvaHere · 21/02/2019 16:38

What is worrying is where she is going next. Typically these CEO's move from one org to another. It may turn out to be good news for Stonewall (dependant on new appointee) but she might be starting afresh 'queering' a whole new sector.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 21/02/2019 16:39

rustees have recently realised Stonewall’s PR has gone down the toilet and are scapegoating Ruth Hunt

She should have left years ago then shouldn't she, instead of being a puppet.

Binglebong · 21/02/2019 16:41

I know she is connected with Shelter, will probably spread the "love".

LangCleg · 21/02/2019 16:41

My thoughts precisely. She'll end up somewhere else in the Third Sector Industrial Complex and get busy fucking that up.

Bowlofbabelfish · 21/02/2019 16:42

It’s a merry go round soaked in gravy at that level. She will leave and take up another chummy position for a hugely inflated salary.

This stuff damages the public perception of all charities. I no longer give to big ones, only small ones I know personally or have good reason to think aren’t corrupt

WeRiseUp · 21/02/2019 16:43

Maybe someone on the trans advisory board is moving up in the world?

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 21/02/2019 16:44

What is worrying is where she is going next.

BBC? Guardian? LibDems? Greens?

Oh, Shelter is a good guess. They can start prioritising housing for trans people over families and single mothers.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 21/02/2019 16:47

Sounds worryingly accurate.
This is going to get far far worse before it gets better.

PalmTree101 · 21/02/2019 16:51

100% going to be a white lesbian trans woman with a penis (i.e. a straight male)

FloralBuntingIsObnoxious · 21/02/2019 16:51

Imagine being the CEO of a charity for LGB people, a lesbian yourself, and leaving after a decade and a half proud that you had converted it into a charity to enable heterosexual men to shit all over lesbians?

ADropofReality · 21/02/2019 16:55

A lesbian who has presided over making the cotton ceiling a thing; pressurising young lesbians into having sex with people with penises. Goodness me, what a thing to be proud of.

Who's next, then? Alex Drummond? Aimee Challenor? Sarah Brown?

BoomBoomsCousin · 21/02/2019 16:56

Just to give you nightmares - Isn't Women's Aid looking for a new CEO?

It's interesting that she's stepping down without having already been hired for a new role. That normally indicates being asked to leave one way or another. But I can't really see why Stonewall would ask her to leave. There has been some push back on the Trans agenda, but from the perspective of those who want that agenda, she has been incredibly effective. So I wonder if there is something we don't know.
