What's with all the transgender hate?

I'm new to this and have been looking at the feminism chat and there seems to be so much hate and fear about transgender people! What's that about? And apparently you can't be a feminist and be accepting of transgender people, that just seems ludicrous to me, surely feminism is about equality, I am not pretending to be particularly knowledgeable on the trans subject, but i do think having equality for transgender people is nothing but a positive thing. Has anyone actually been personally negatively affected by a transgender person? Or is it all a theoretical fear?

Luglio · 22/09/2018 23:25

God, is it 2009 again?

Molokonono · 22/09/2018 23:25

Well, the 4 women sexually abused by a rapist in prison were.

littlbrowndog · 22/09/2018 23:25

Foul and beastly

MIdgebabe · 22/09/2018 23:25

Hello there. Please could you point me at what you see as transgender hate as I don't recognise any myself?

AssassinatedBeauty · 22/09/2018 23:26

Read and engage some critical faculties and you should be able to fathom it all out. Good luck.

Namechangebenefit · 22/09/2018 23:26

Oh you sweet summer child. Don't think for a second you can defend trans people on mumsnet or even ask this question. They'll tear you to pieces.

Trans people are the devil, dontchaknow?

Namechangebenefit · 22/09/2018 23:26

See all above responses Hmm

donajimena · 22/09/2018 23:27

Wtf? Sorry I'm too tired to reply more eloquently. There is no hate towards transgender. There is concern about the erosion of women and womens rights. Goodnight

littlbrowndog · 22/09/2018 23:27

The devils all of them devilish

Elephantinacravat · 22/09/2018 23:27

Have you actually read some of the threads here? There are some good ones which lay out the main issues quite well.

Elephantinacravat · 22/09/2018 23:28

Can you lay out what it is that you see as 'transgender hate' on these boards?

Beesandfrogsandfleas · 22/09/2018 23:30

You may have been looking at feminist chat but you certainly weren’t reading it or you wouldn’t ask such ill-informed questions.

UpstartCrow · 22/09/2018 23:30

Lets start with 'what is feminism'. Feminism is a movement for women.

What's with all the transgender hate?
NameChangedAgain18 · 22/09/2018 23:33

Welcome to Mumsnet. Rather than go back over issues that have been extensively discussed on here, it will be easier for you to take a read through this thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3145470-Break-it-down-for-me?pg=1

There should be plenty on there, with the links too, to keep you busy and informed. Do come back and discuss when you’ve digested it.

FloralBunting · 22/09/2018 23:35

I'm new to this. Please spend time explaining that you don't hold the position I've suggested, because I see myself as a bit of a SJW and I will get a warm glow about wasting your time in the most tedious way I can think of.

Trousered · 22/09/2018 23:36

Tiggy

Feminism is about the liberation of women, what has it got to do with transgender?

Are you planning on liberating Caitlyn Jenner from something?

That uncomfortable corset perhaps?

From the need to wear so much slap?

Feminists got rid of that oppressive requirement for women 100 years ago. We care about the important stuff, not what we see in the mirror.

What is your question again?

SpoonBlender · 22/09/2018 23:36

I see no-one is self-aware enough to take on the issue of "why do people who come to Feminism Chat get the impression that we're all anti-Trans".

I think that's important.

UpstartCrow · 22/09/2018 23:37

Those of us who have been punched, doxxed, or had bomb threats, rape threats or death threats from the anti women activists tend to get a bit annoyed when we are the ones accused of hate.

PencilsInSpace · 22/09/2018 23:37

Welcome to MN, how did you find us?

Queenofthedrivensnow · 22/09/2018 23:38

Brave and stunning

AspieAndProud · 22/09/2018 23:38

We support transgender rights. Transwomen, for instance, should have exactly the same rights as anyone else with a penis; no more, no less. If they want more than that, they aren't asking for rights, they are asking for extras.

WhereDoWeBeginToCovetClarice · 22/09/2018 23:40

God, is it 2009 again?

That's exactly what I thought. I was surprised to find it wasn't a reanimated zombie thread.

FloralBunting · 22/09/2018 23:41

SpoonBlender, I suspect that most people who come here and read the content usually see we are not 'Anti Trans'.

But I take your point and have in fact this evening started a thread on terms used. Perhaps posters could have a look at my thoughts on the matter while our 'new visitor' takes some time to read the helpful starter thread posted above.
