...please could I ask exactly what was your lightbulb moment? What did you hear or read that pushed you to our alpine slopes?

A transwoman telling me I was asserting my privilege over her by wearing trousers. Apparently as I don't have to wear dresses to be considered a woman I am oppressing her

It was sports - transwomen with male physicality in competitive sports against women.

Then on reading more, the realisation that my initial view of ‘why not accept people and let them be women if they want to be’ was predicated on men actually transitioning to transwomen (ie hormonal changes, no longer having a penis). I think a lot of people don’t realise that most transwomen don’t undergo transition.

I started reading the Feminism Chat on Mumsnet. Not so much a lightbulb moment as a dawning realisation that I was sleepwalking into a nightmare.

I’ve always wanted equality for women, but I’ve never really thought of myself as particularly feminist. And now apparently I’m not just a feminist, but a radical one.

So thanks to the women of this board. You have opened my eyes.

I peaked when a FB friend came out as transgender, started wearing head scarfs and pink lipstick (he is bald), and jumped on the #metoo hashtag. Oh and when he mansplained mansplaining

I peaked a while ago but it was though reading on here.

I was always a trans ally, I still feel the same about transsexuals really . I felt it was the next step for LGBT.
There were a few niggles before. Remember that girl who stood up
infront of Barrack when he came over here and announced 'I'm coming out to you as a non binary person'?
Then started going on about toilets and other 'injustices'. Then you had all trans allies piling in, telling her how brave she was . I remember thinking, fucking hell, people have too much time on their hands, she's not even trans.
I think it was little bit by little bit, I read on here about the cotton ceiling and the transmen not inheriting.
I think I read the line on here saying 'demedicalising transition for adults, and medicalising it for children' and it fell into place.

I thought I'd peaked, but recently I've started viewing things ore and ore through the eyes of my daughter, and I've truly peaked now. My Mum peaked today, I think. She is a Labour Party activist and original 1970s feminist, and just came round for a cup of tea which ended up being half a bottle of wine and an epic rant about the Fucking Labour Party and 'the worst assault of womens rights in a generation'.

No bloody idea. The gist was that she felt I was making a point by wearing trousers. I don't think she knew what she meant either beyond being annoyed I looked like a woman in or out of a dress

I think it was the Top Shop changing rooms thing.

The fact that a major corporation that probably does not give a flying fuck about workers rights, the environment etc etc, suddenly caved to some self promoting wanker and gave men the right to walk into the women's changing rooms.
It was craven and so wrong footed. And it was also that they disagreed with the shop worker that took one look at the bloke in stubble and pink lipstick and said, 'Nope you can't go into the room where 12 year olds are changing.'

Or it may be the 60 year old woman being punched by a TRA for daring to try to discuss the erosion of women's rights in Speakers Corner. A place that has always be sacrosanct in terms of free speech.

Or the male nurse with stubble and fat fingers who complained because a woman who wanted a female nurse objected to him treating her because he was obviously a man.

Or any fucker calling me cis.

Again, being cissed makes us swear

I've been becoming more and more uneasy for a while, but India Willoughby on CBB and the swimming pool regulations have made me raging ( so much so that I bloody emailed the Daily Mail about it yesterday and they actually reported on it!)

I'm also on Twitter and I'm now following a lot of gender critical feminists and some of the stuff they post is v peaking. I challenged a Trans who described women as 'cis' and got called a 'terf troll' a few days ago. Woo hoo!

Have (MtoF) trans colleagues and never really thought about it all, and we never discuss personal matters at work.

I understand trans people’s concerns about discrimination and risk of abuse and violence.

But for girls and women am very concerned about biological men (who are deemed “women” on their word) in single sex spaces (eg privacy, cultural concerns, risk of attack from a minority of those people), schemes and posts for women going to biological men saying they are women, especially if stats aren’t measured.

The ONS thing blew my mind: these are supposedly logical statisticians and should not have been so easily lobbed!

I still don’t understand the legislative issues. But want to. Always thought Maria Miller had dubious views - understatement - on womens issues so am suspicious of anything she is in favour of.

I also really dislike the sex stereotyping: a boy or man should be able to wear a dress, make up, whatever, without this meaning anything about his sex.

For me it was the battering that Rose McGowan is taking. I'm very much a 'live & let live' person, i assumed that transgender folk wanted equality in terms of being allowed to live their lives without discrimination. That Andi's outburst & the subsequent crap from the trans movement has made me realise that some actually want more, which goes against the rights that us women have to live our lives safely. I have noticed that a lot of the issues are from mtf tho, which is worrying me!
