I peak transed my husband yesterday by showing him photos of that Scottish chap in prison for murder who won the MissFitness prison competiton, the Kiwi weightlifter chap and the delightful Hannah Mounsey. I read an explanation from one who said that transwomen who are lesbians find it too 'triggering' to see another transwoman's penis. Presumably actual lesbians should be fine with penis though.

Reminds me of that man on twitter who was enthusiastically telling women that transwomen are women until the suggestion that he date one came up. Nobody really believes this nonsense.

For me it was Jenni Murray pointing out (in the Times I think) that being a woman was about more than lipstick and dresses and getting told off by the BBC for it.

For me, it was of all people Eddie Izzard.

He's of the same generation as me, and in my mind he has always been a heterosexual man who just happened to like wearing make-up and heels (and the occasional dress). The original transvestite then, and I have never had any issue with this, in fact I thought he was pretty brave to be doing it in the 80s and he was responsible for a lot of people relaxing their attitudes towards cross-dressing. A lot of people mistakenly conflated it with homosexuality too, but people were becoming more accepting of that as well, so all good.

The I hear him being interviewed on the radio and rabbiting on about him being "the first properly 'out' trans as he'd been doing it since the 80s" and describing how some days he felt more "womanly" than others and I just thought - fuck right off you idiot. You're jumping on a bandwagon to try and keep some relevance in these modern times, all those years you never wanted to "be" a woman and always used to say that you just wanted to be accepted as a cross-dressing man, which you were! You're not trans, not in my understanding of what trans is anyway.

So I started to read more here, and I started to understand...... then I started to worry......

It scares me that only the Christian Right in America seems to be sounding alarm bells about trans abuse of women's safe spaces.

My peak trans moment today has been reading about the man that killed his boyfriend and then attempted to rape a woman within days of being released. Now he's a trans woman. This violent sex offender & killer was then invited to speak at the House of Lords...sorry for the DF link but what the actual fuck is going on?!!

I thought I had already but it may have been last night when I was engaged by a few on twitter and told among other things

And after being really polite was told
"your version of debate is insulting, misgendering and threats of violence"
When i asked they could provide no evidence.

Then they started going on about (actual) women who were placed in mens jails because they were troublesome. They couldnt actually provide evidence but apparently that was semantics as they had said "technically" this had happened.

I also had someone explaining to me that the only change to the GRA was that they no longer needed a process involving doctors and a list of criteria. I tried to explain well THAT is the problem!
