Yes unashamedly a thread about a thread.

It is like entering the bloody twilight zone over there. Sad

Jeez there are MNers basically caring more about OP's husbands right to sex rather than believing OP and helping her.

Totally understand if this gets deleted for being a thread about a thread - but if it gets more of the feminist viewpoints onto that thread then great.

Shocking Shock

I'm so saddened that people believe that a man who puts his penis inside a woman, who says she doesn't want to have sex has not committed rape.

Prolesworth - it is not the done thing (!) and it may well get deleted - but I thought it was worth it as it was all against OP until I think Elephants jumped in (sorry if I misremembered anyone else posting in support of the OP).

I have just read some of that thread just now, didn't post but yes I am utterly shocked at some of the attitudes on there. The thing is, the OP could well be describing me and my DH with the exception that my DH wouldn't be trying to put his cock in my without my consent!!
He is fine and accepts the fact that I have a very low libido (lots of issues going back many many years for which I have had unsuccessful counselling for). He would have been horrified if one of his mates had done that to his wife.

No wonder rape convictions are so fucking low if the courts and the police have the same attitude espoused by some of the posters on that thread.

I really hope the OP does manage to make at use of the good advice on that thread and ignore the crap :(

I never, ever expected to see a thread like that on MN. Horrified.

tabouleh · 26/08/2010 16:36

arses - your post was brilliant - I am so glad to see you over here!

Jesus H. Christ. That thread is awful. I feel really bad for the OP, they're basically telling her that her feelings don't count. Poor thing.

There is no such concept as marital rape. Rape is rape is rape.

It's a long long time since the law treated the marriage ceremony as signifying a woman's consent to a lifetime of sex on demand with no recourse to the law if her husband forced himself on her.
