Weight Watchers - new starter

Pipperleen · 14/10/2024 15:03

Started Weight Watchers from home 6 days ago after it was recommended to me by someone on here.

I am almost 7 months postpartum and my starting weight is 18st 5lbs - I continued to pile it on after giving birth, surviving on fat, sugar and caffeine to live…

Wondered if there were any other users of WW, or anyone giving it a go like me. Feel free to join or follow along.

I’ve enjoyed the week so far but know I have a long way to go and a lot to stick to to get somewhere even remotely healthy. Weigh in tomorrow night after the children are in bed!

I like it so far!! I'll be honest mainly because rhe app is really good and now I've connected my fit bit I'm earning extra points so planning to use those on gin at weekends 🙈😅

I haven't read much info on thr plan which I need to do as I've just been going solely off the app... but having done slimming world before years ago I definitely prefer this as I don't have to think much I just put things in the app and it does the thinking for me 😅

@Pipperleen you will get back in the groove you've done amazing going off previous posts!! 🎉🎉🎉

i joined and downloaded the app, but I had no idea what to eat. All the recipes look revolting. I just don't eat sausages and half the things in the recipes so I cancelled .

Thanks for your input 😂

This is my 2nd week on the plan! I lost 8 pounds on my first week and 4 this week! I am struggling to get my head around the zero foods but trying not to overthink it ! For instance - 5% Fat mince and mash potatoes (no butter etc) is essentially zero points! I know its to get you to choose those types of foods over the processed stuff - it has really been an eye opener what some foods are - a garlic baguette... 20 points!!!
But so far so good! Only 9 stone 2 pounds to go lol!!

50FootWave · 20/01/2025 11:36

Wiw, @VanessaShanessaJenkins99 , that's quite something! You must be thrilled, well done!

I agree with the mince/pots, so I'm probably going to swerve slightly (for now). It's handy to know we can have a jacket potato, though!

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Day 3 for me.

Try it.... if it dosent work for you then youve not lost anything - but its really quite easy to get your head round :)

I'm choosing to point potatoes and mince - I can roughly remember what they were before they changed the zero points foods so I generally find something equivalent points value and stick it in.

I had a bad week last week - the carbs found me in a bad way Saturday night!

I find if I've got nothing on during the week and I can save my points for a weekend to treat myself, I can stay on plan but last week I had my work Xmas meal Tuesday and it was basically game over after that!

50FootWave · 20/01/2025 16:53

Sounds like a good approach, @ricketybeauty ! Also totally understandable when social calendar is full and impossible to avoid. I hope you had a lovely time!

Carbs feel so vital during winter. I can generally resist sugary stuff, but bread and pasta are my weakness!

That's a good idea , i still have my pro points scales so might still track the mince and potatoes

Pipperleen · 20/01/2025 18:39

Wow @VanessaShanessaJenkins99, that’s brilliant!
Just half a pound off for me this week - happy with that to be honest, the weekend was not great 😂

Agree with the comments about potatoes and mince - I was really mindful about having them before Xmas and ate veggie reasonably regularly to avoid the mince-based monotony but feels easy to fall into that trap now. We’ll see…

Well I'm pleased with week 1... I lost 3lbs!! It would have been more had I not had a tv/emotional eating semi binge on mine and crisps Saturday night 😅🙈

But I can already see a difference in my skin and feel generally more in control and positive than I have in months (apart from Saturday night haha!)

I just love the app I feel like it's 10 times better than my fitness pal and really makes me think about what I'm eating and how much.. plus being able to earn more points with my fit bit is making me move a bit more

Still a long long way to go but definitely happy for now!

Elle771 · 20/01/2025 20:42

*wine and crisps that is!

Elle771 · 20/01/2025 20:43

Am literally eating more fruit, veg and salad than I have in months just to scoff zero points food and drinking more water too which I think helps me feel better... having survived on coffee, diet drinks and wine for too long

50FootWave · 21/01/2025 06:40

Brilliant loss,@Elle771 👏

I always add lots of pulses to meals to bulk them up, too. I'm rubbish at drinking water, though.

3 off for me. Hope everyone else is OK!

ricketybeauty · 27/01/2025 16:58

Um, have the weeklies gone down???

doggyparrot · 27/01/2025 19:00

Oh I'd love to know more.... how do I find out about WW ? I've 3 stone to loose

VanessaShanessaJenkins99 · 27/01/2025 20:09

I thought that when i logged on this morning! Are yours 28?

14!!! Have you reached a weight target or anything?

50FootWave · 27/01/2025 20:27

I hadn't noticed, but I wasn't planning on using mine, just sticking to my dailies.

Maybe it's the mince/potatoes karma catching up!

ricketybeauty · 28/01/2025 06:24

@50FootWave well I thought that! If I’ve lost my weeklies I’ll take my free jackets!!!

ricketybeauty · 27/01/2025 20:21

Oh god no im only on week 4 ! My dailys is 45 though so maybe the weeklies is a percentage of that?

Obsessedwithsourdough · 29/01/2025 08:41

Could someone explain to me how they started at the beginning, challenges and pointers? I genuinely don't know where to begin. I joined and the app seemed very uninformative to me.
