Weight Watchers - new starter

Pipperleen · 14/10/2024 15:03

Started Weight Watchers from home 6 days ago after it was recommended to me by someone on here.

I am almost 7 months postpartum and my starting weight is 18st 5lbs - I continued to pile it on after giving birth, surviving on fat, sugar and caffeine to live…

Wondered if there were any other users of WW, or anyone giving it a go like me. Feel free to join or follow along.

I’ve enjoyed the week so far but know I have a long way to go and a lot to stick to to get somewhere even remotely healthy. Weigh in tomorrow night after the children are in bed!

I’ve not tried it, but I’m a bit annoyed at the updated points for meat and potatoes. The cynic in my thinks it’s to reduce weight loss and keep people on the programme longer!!

Pipperleen · 14/12/2024 13:58

@ricketybeauty I could not agree more… I am making cottage pie for us tonight which I had planned and counted - pretty high due to the mince and potatoes - and now it’s nothing. Could eat the whole thing if I so wished. Apparently.

Update to keep myself accountable after what will no doubt be a gain at Xmas time…

4.5lbs off this week, to hit 2 stone 7lbs down altogether.
I’m in the 15s! Hoping everything will still start with a 15 come the new year.

How are we all feeling post Xmas? Are we going back on the plan this week or next?

Pipperleen · 30/12/2024 07:43

@ricketybeauty
terrible! Feeling bloated, my bad back has returned and I’ve got a daily headache 😂
I’d be happy to start again now but my husband is adamant he is still going hard on the festive treats. It’s just easier for me to try and relax about it and start again next week.
I’m still logging weight on Tuesdays, but that’s about it.

How are you feeling?

ricketybeauty · 30/12/2024 09:57

I’ve weighed this morning and no huge disaster - seems to be within my normal fluctuation.

Ive sent my parents home with all the surplus booze and treats. I’m same as you - bloated and not feeling great!

MossPiglet57 · 30/12/2024 10:46

Hi, I have just signed up for WW to start on Jan 1st. Found this thread and would really love to join in the support as I don't have a good track record of sticking to anything. Just joined this forum today so that I could be a part of this thread. all the best, Shell in North Wales.

Obsessedwithsourdough · 30/12/2024 10:49

I’ve been ill over Xmas and have lost about half a stone. I’m lighter than I’ve been in over seven years. So I’m determined to lose the rest of it now. Will sign up in the next few days. Meantime I’m eating much less . I haven’t had an alcoholic drink since before Xmas.

Pipperleen · 30/12/2024 12:32

@MossPiglet57

Welcome! How are you feeling about getting going with it all?
I am similar to you in that I have tried different things many many times - but I have found WW to be fine to stick to.

Thank you Pipper, I am feeling very excited about it all and have so many ideas and plans as to how to keep on track this time. How are you finding it now you have been doing it for a while and do you or anyone else have any tips for me please?

Ineedaholidayagain · 30/12/2024 16:11

A couple of pounds on but I've been tracking every day and spacing treats out. I made a load of veg soup with leftovers which has helped.

Pipperleen · 30/12/2024 19:21

@MossPiglet57
I started in October and lost 38lbs before the Xmas period. Quite a high starting weight though - 18stone 5 to begin with - 2nd baby weight and then some!!
I have found finding a lunch option that I enjoy and is satisfying has helped massively (wrap and Quavers are my dream team). Means I’m not needing a snack late afternoon. Also a cuppa when I’m peckish at non-meal times has helped.
Planning dinner first and then going backwards as they are typically my highest point meals.
I think not really using weeklies has helped the quick weight loss but that’s not necessarily a good thing. I’ve just used them if something unexpected has come up. Like a safety net.

@Ineedaholidayagain sounds really positive, well done 👏

What type of plans are you on? Are you hungry?

Pipperleen · 31/12/2024 10:15

What type of plans are you on? Are you hungry?

Just the core plan - gives you a number of points to spend based on height and weight etc.
It’s essentially a low fat diet - lower fat things have lower points.

I think there used to be different variants but it’s all the same one now, with the exception of a diabetic version and a maintenance version.

At the start I had the odd day where I was a bit hungry but to be honest I had gotten used to being so full all the time that it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing for me to feel a little bit of hunger.
It’s levelled out now - I just get a normal level
of hunger when it’s lunch or dinner time.

Well done "needaholiday" very good to only have a tiny gain, which can be gone in a week. I'm impressed that people here have still been tracking over the festives. Thanks for the advice Pipper. Do you use the WW wraps or just the standard ones. I had some WW ones, but they were quite small, but maybe that's because I'm used to having huge portions. Shell X

Ineedaholidayagain · 01/01/2025 10:51

So I've weighed myself this morning abd I'm back to my November weight. Not the end of the world. I'm having an easy day today then back on it tomorrow but always tracking.

MossPiglet57 · 01/01/2025 15:00

Well done, that's great and not put you back too far. I start WW today and did my first weigh in at 11 stones 2 and a half. Which has popped me back into the obese BMI range. So for Feb, I'd like to get back out of that catagory. Also, I'm only 56, but my scales give me a biological age of 72. Quitee frightening. If I could get that under 70 with in this month, I'd be over the moon. But not sure how much weight I'd have to lose to do that. I made no point soup today, which was okay, but not really wowwing. I think I need to work on that a bit. Looking forward to the week ahead. Shell.

I want to sign up today but I need the diabetic version and I’m not sure if that’s what I’m getting. It just asks me for credit card details

It won't be a different version of WW when you pay - when you've signed up you answer certain questions and then select that as your plan - I think it asks if you're diabetic.

Elle771 · 17/01/2025 04:16

Anyone still on this? Had a delayed start after new year so came to WW as a novice on 13th Jan... feel like this week has been a good one though so hoping for some nice results Monday when I weigh 🙏🙏🙏

Pipperleen · 17/01/2025 09:06

Hello @Elle771 !
Yes, still here. Struggling to get back where I was mentally before Xmas but loosely following along this week - back to it on Monday. Having most meals on the plan with the odd one off. Not how I like to do it but it’s got me through the week.
I weigh in on Monday too. I’m just about back to where I was early December now so need to crack on.

Sounds like you’ve had a good week - definitely update us on Monday!!!

OP posts:
MossPiglet57 · 17/01/2025 09:38

Hi Elle, I started on Jan 1st, lost 5 lb in my first week and a pound and a half the second. Really enjoying the plan. I weigh on a Tuesday. Looking forward to finding out how you did in your first week. Are you enjoying it?

Elle771 · 17/01/2025 12:05

I like it so far!! I'll be honest mainly because rhe app is really good and now I've connected my fit bit I'm earning extra points so planning to use those on gin at weekends 🙈😅

I haven't read much info on thr plan which I need to do as I've just been going solely off the app... but having done slimming world before years ago I definitely prefer this as I don't have to think much I just put things in the app and it does the thinking for me 😅

@Pipperleen you will get back in the groove you've done amazing going off previous posts!! 🎉🎉🎉

50FootWave · 18/01/2025 06:42

If you'll have me, I'd love to come.e back and join you..@Pipperleen you are doing brilliantly! Lovely to also see some familiar names here still.

I started in October but then lost my way (not the plan's fault, totally mine). And yet I know it works!

My membership is still live, and although I'm doing lots of exercise, my diet is a shitshow.

So. Here I am, all 16.4 stone of me, determined to make a dent. Will be avoiding the potatoes though! Whose bright idea was that?!
