Weight Watchers - new starter

Pipperleen · 14/10/2024 15:03

Started Weight Watchers from home 6 days ago after it was recommended to me by someone on here.

I am almost 7 months postpartum and my starting weight is 18st 5lbs - I continued to pile it on after giving birth, surviving on fat, sugar and caffeine to live…

Wondered if there were any other users of WW, or anyone giving it a go like me. Feel free to join or follow along.

I’ve enjoyed the week so far but know I have a long way to go and a lot to stick to to get somewhere even remotely healthy. Weigh in tomorrow night after the children are in bed!

It's a bit of a pivot, isn't it @FatfeetKate ? I love carbs, but I have no off switch. Adding lots of protein (all 0 points) makes a big difference to filling me up for longer.

So eggs, tinned tuna and chicken. Someone I follow on the app uses a tin of soup as the base for stews, then packs it full of protein and veg. You'd have to check the points of the soup - but I thought this was genius!

I am going to make a bean chilli at the weekend which should be really low in points. Thank you for the tip with the soup - I will have a look at that too. Years ago they used to do WW soup not sure if they still do though.

FatfeetKate · 26/10/2024 05:09

If anyone is missing snacks M&S salted popcorn in a multipacki is only 2 points.

Ineedaholidayagain · 26/10/2024 05:33

As far as ww food, you can get some in supermarkets, soup, wrsos fresh and frozen meals. I like had fresh butternut squash lasagne.

50FootWave · 26/10/2024 07:12

3 off for me on my first official weigh in. 😄

Pipperleen · 26/10/2024 08:16

Brilliant, well done @50FootWave !!
I have been quietly anticipating your update.

How’s the week been?

3 off for me on my first official weigh in. 😄

Well done! Great start it’s obviously working.

InYourRoom · 26/10/2024 08:42

Can I join in please? Just about to leave for my week 3 weigh in.

50FootWave · 26/10/2024 09:19

Thanks @Pipperleen and @FatfeetKate. Good to know indeed that it works!

Week has been absolutely fine, it's all in the prep for me (plus loving @FatfeetKate 's finds!). So as long as I get that done ahead of my working week, I'm hopeful I can hold it together!

How about you?

Pipperleen · 26/10/2024 09:33

@InYourRoom yes, please do! Hope weigh in goes well.

I am the same as you @50FootWave - it’s got to be planned and I need to be sure I’ve got the ingredients and plenty of points left. If it requires too much brain power after 6pm, I’m out!

I’m still reluctant to use my weeklies. I can’t get out of the mindset of a treat, or extra of something, will mean the week is ruined. Thanks Slimming World!!

Yes, thanks for the ideas @FatfeetKate . Hope you’ve been having a good week too.

Ha ha, @Pipperleen , I think SW has a tendency to cause a lot of disordered eating for some people, including me! It was their claiming bananas were a free food if you ate it as is, but full of syns if you mashed if up, which tipped me over the edge..

I've also not touched my weeklies, but mostly because I don't have any urge (yet). I don't drink, which probably helps!

FatfeetKate · 26/10/2024 11:21

I will weigh in on Monday but will be dipping into my weeklies this weekend. I have just made a bean chilli for 2 points a serving which I will serve with rice at 5 points and a big salad. The only pointed ingredients in the chilli was chipotle paste and a stock cube.

InYourRoom · 26/10/2024 12:22

Just got back. 2.5lbs off this week and 16 off since I signed up on the 7th which is blooming amazing!

Over a stone!!! That is amazing!

InYourRoom · 26/10/2024 15:20

Thanks FatFreeKate I'm really pleased. Long way to go but I just want to have actually lost weight by the end of the year rather than be heavier in December. This will be the third year of trying to do that! Wink

InYourRoom · 26/10/2024 15:21

Also realised I called you FatFreeKate and not FatFeetKate 😂😂😂

Well definitely aiming to be fat free 😂

50FootWave · 26/10/2024 16:27

Great news. @InYourRoom !

Pipperleen · 26/10/2024 19:42

Is anyone doing ‘rewards’ at any milestones?
I got some ‘I lost a stone’ boots today. Only cheap ones but just buying something that wasn’t for the children or the cleaning cupboard felt lovely!
New nail varnish will be going in the basket once I am 21lbs down.

I’ve lost I think 20lb in just under 3 months on WW. Mine was also PP weight loss. It’s really worked for me - I think getting older, low calorie is the only way to go and I think psychologically it works as you can’t really fall off the wagon as you’ve got weeklies and can earn extra points.

Ive literally stuck to it for three whole months though, other than 1 week on holiday as it was just too tricky to count the points eating out every night!

Underthemagnificentbeechtree · 27/10/2024 05:47

Morning all! I just joined.

I’m in metric & i want to lose around 30kg. It’s a lot! It’s crept up on me to be honest. I do a fair bit of exercise in the form of walking & strength training, but I’m obviously eating a load of extra calories without thinking.

So now if I eat it, I log it. I’ve also persuaded DH to join so I think that will be half the battle as he’s a big indulger in treats and drags me into it.

50FootWave · 27/10/2024 06:59

@Pipperleen What a great idea! Maybe a facial every 10 pounds? Time to myself is a rare treat, and precious, so I'm thinking this will be my milestone treat!

@ricketybeauty congratulations, that's amazing. It does seem to work!

Hello and welcome, @Underthemagnificentbeechtree.

50FootWave · 27/10/2024 07:07

Actually, what I really, really need to focus on is a more structured exercise routine. I'm on my feet all day at work, but I need to carve out time for specific exercise!

ricketybeauty · 27/10/2024 07:19

Exercise wise, I’ve done 15 mins of a Joe Wicks circuit with weights I would say most mornings. I reckon I average 5/6 out of 7. If it works with the kids then I might do 30 mins swimming on Sunday. And I walk tons as I’m on maternity leave. The little bit of weights seems to have gone a really long way!

50FootWave · 27/10/2024 10:39

That's really inspiring, @ricketybeauty! I'm going to nick your idea!

FatfeetKate · 28/10/2024 09:33

Weigh in day
Start weight 11 stone 10.2
Today’s weight 11 stone 7.4
Total loss 2.8 Pounds

I remember when I could lose a lot more in week one but I am older and it is definitely harder to lose!

Good look Monday weighers!
